Scouting for Girls gig tonight - A.M.A.Z.I.N.GThe lead was grinning from ear to ear - said it's the kind of gig he dreamed of playing when he was a kid. The acoustics are brilliant in our concert hall. Now, you may say that he says that to all the girls, but regardless it was awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eXsBj9BCdM Another of my fave's is 'Posh Girls' but can't find a decent link for that. Sorry - had to bore somebody with it!!!

This morning during my commute I started looking into the mystery of why our standard mortgage applications only seem to care whether a person is, or is not of Hispanic/Latino ethnicity. There are lots of ethnicities. Why is that one singled out? I haven't figured it out yet.IP: Logged |

CA's population has a lot of Latin Americans, right? Maybe the bank wants to profile their customers in case they turn out to be in the US illegally? It's not easy to ruin a non-existent person's credit if they default on their loan.IP: Logged |

The 1003 forms are standard across the country, so it's not a border state thing. The purpose of having the ethnicity/race question is to ensure banks aren't discriminating against racial or ethnic groups. The government figured the only way they could monitor it is to ask people to reveal their heritage. It's just perplexing why the only ethnicity taken into account is Hispanic/Latino.IP: Logged |

I'm ignorant about this. How does the government ensure there is no discrimination?I can't think of a single reason (other than discrimination) as to why the forms have only two options like that. ...Unless of course the banks just haven't caught up with the rest of the world. IP: Logged |

This weekend i'm going on a boat to Sail 2010 with a group of people. I've found this on the internet, it's from an organisation who organizes leisure activities for (single) people.About Sail 2010: SAIL Amsterdam is the largest event in the Netherlands which is free to the public. In 2005 the event drew 1.8 million visitors, who gave SAIL Amsterdam 2005 high marks. SAIL Amsterdam 2010 will take place from Thursday 19 August to Monday 23 August 2010 on and around the IJ river. SAIL's main attraction will be the impressive fleet of Tall Ships, sailing heritage craft, modern ships, naval ships and replicas. In addition to this, every day there will be a varying programme of all kinds of cultural and sports activities. The theme of SAIL 2010 is ‘a nautical encounter between the past, present and future’. The idea behind SAIL Amsterdam originated during preparations for the celebration of Amsterdam's 700 years of existence in 1975. After the huge success of SAIL Amsterdam 700, organisers decided to hold another SAIL Amsterdam in 1980. In order to effectively manage the organisation, the permanent SAIL Amsterdam Foundation (SSA) was established in 1977. Since then, the SSA has successfully organised SAIL Amsterdam in 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000 and 2005 and is now focussing on the 8th edition of the event. The movie Titanic comes to mind. AG, tell me about your Navy period, when did it started, when did it end and why did you wanted it? IP: Logged |

I was in the Navy from August 1994 to August 1998. It's weird to think it was 12 years ago this month. It was alright. I was assigned to a ship whose home port was Concord, California. That's about 30 miles North of where I currently live. I was assigned to the same ship the entire time I was in. I really enjoyed the traveling. Places we went: Canada - Victoria Mexico - Cabo San Lucas Australia - Melbourne, Darwin, Perth Japan - I forget the names Hong Kong right before it was turned back over to China Thailand -Phuket, Pattaya Beach South Korea Oman United Arab Emirates Bahrain Saudi Arabia - I think That's all the places I can remember. I didn't list Guam, but we were only there for a night anyway. The military takes care of you fairly well (with the exception of war), which is a welcome security for some, but I thought life would be more challenging as a civilian, so I got out without considering staying. I saw that some people clearly didn't mature properly, and I wasn't anxious to join their ranks. I never did see any combat or anything. I did come close to serious injury in Guam. We were loading missiles onto our ship. My ship was an ammunition supply ship. I was on the pier for this activity. The crane had a special carriage that attached to the missile. It came down over the top, and you pushed some metal rods in to secure it. Then, as it was being hoisted, we'd keep it steady using ropes that were attached to this carriage. The empty carriage was coming back down, and I stepped forward to grab the rope as it came back down. I was looking up at it, and it seemed like the carriage was moving a bit fast, so I stepped back, and it bounced on the ground in front of me. The carriage had completely detached from the crane. If it had fallen on me it could have been pretty bad. Lots of people reported to me that they saw it happen, but couldn't yell fast enough to alert me. I really thought nothing of it. I saw it coming down, and got out of the way. No big deal really. Now it's 10:49. Didn't want to be up this late. Good night. IP: Logged |

Good on you, AG!Here at the office, we've got sometimes officetalk. Quotes we often use. Our Australian collegue introduced the term Good on you. The Australian way you pronounce it is ‘good on ya’. Today we've had a discussion what this expression actually means. http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080407204628AABNya7 Do you have office talk? IP: Logged |

I work with two 25 year old girls. There is a lot of talking, and I think there are a lot of expressions. I'll have to keep an ear out for them. I'm not sure that they'll be like, "Good on ya," in context, but I'll see if there are any good ones.IP: Logged |

I find this comedy show "such fun". It's British humor. If you don't like it, someone (me!) certainly had good laugh! Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w437ZnkvsE4 Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FfpAeuvkEI Part 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNqQNtoj0b0 IP: Logged |

I had to stop to let some turkeys cross today, but I was too slow in getting my camera out. It was going to be perfect! By the time I got my camera out, they'd crossed the road, and I had to get moving because there were cars behind me waiting. I took a picture out the side window, but it was just a blur.IP: Logged |

Christmas dinner comes to mind with al these turkeys. Eskimono beautiful pics. I didn't go sailing, I just went on a boat through the canals of Amsterdam. I knew that we were not going sailing. It was a bith of a dissapointment. The price I've paid for it was to high.So I expected to get somenthing back for that high price. What kind of things i could have done for that money.... Well hope you all had a better and "cheaper" weekend. IP: Logged |

I hate it when that happens - when you invest time or money into something and it doesn't quite meet up your expectations.I had a very cheap weekend - made the most of natures assets. I cleaned my decking today and had my hair tied up. My neck wasn't used to the sun and is now burnt! Back to work tomorrow, hey ho. IP: Logged |

Ai, a,i I've read somewhere that cucumber helps against sun burning. Buth my advice would be a good lotion. Yes i'm also back to work tomorrow. I've cleand my kitchen this weekend. I even took off the power-point cap to clean it.This night there's a programme on television about Paul Verhoeven. He was the director of Basic Instinct I. I've read somewhere that Basic Instinct I is scorpio movie. They didn't say why. My conclusion is the psylogical mind games, sex and dead in the movie. Yesterday i've watched a DVD Vicky & Christina in Barcelona. Nice, buth not a strong story. IP: Logged |
