🙋. Welcome, although I'm even newer than you. Always a noble attitude, to not only ask yourself, what you can gain from others. 🐝------------------ As for me, all I know is I know nothing. In every person there is a sun, just let them shine. 🌄 Both quotes from Socrates.📜 IP: Logged |

I just now read the replies Thank you all for the nice hellos 3 mos ago @Randall Yes I am liking this place. I've given a couple astrology forums a go over the years but they were pretty weak for the most part. I figured I'd give it another go though with this place. I like the crowd, overall people are nice here and much more knowledgeable. Thanks HeavenlyLove That first quote in your signature is one of my favorites. I'm more particular to the similar one "The more I learn the less I know" Its so true IP: Logged |

Well, Socrates considers the Sun to be the offspring of Good. He rejects those opinions that suggest pleasure or knowledge to be Good, and presents Glaucon with the analogy of the Sun. As the Sun gives the ability to our eyes to see, so does the Good by providing us with the objects of Knowledge. In PLato's ″Republic″ Socrates says ″When it fixes itself on that which is illumined by truth and that which is, it intellects, knows, and appears to possess intelligence. But when it fixes itself on that which is mixed with darkness, on coming into being and passing away, it opines and is dimmed, changing opinions up and down and seems at such times not to possess intelligence (508d). In ″Apology″ Socrates again claims that he, as well as the rest of the Athenians, worship the Sun (26d). IP: Logged |
