"all mixed race people or coloured people have brown eyes" quote: Err, not really. I can't speak for all people of color or even all Mozambicans but as well as Native African, my family has some Arab and the Portuguese Ancestry too and I know of atleast 3 people in my family with green eyes; two of them are my grandparents, one is my aunt.
Agreed, I know a lot of mixed race people, including those of an African-Caribbean/European mix who have green or blue eyes. quote: also for the record there is no typical physical traits of black people such as what you said, glaucus. the only similarities i see are between close family members. some blacks are tall, some are thick etc, some can run, some are more scholarly and may not be talented at running. some cant dance a lick, just like any other race.
True, there isn't a "typical" black persons build...it doesn't exist. I am black and have a long trunk. I know many many black people with shorter legs & a longer trunk. IP: Logged |

Most blacks in the USA are part white though due to history of white masters raping black slave women as well as interracial relationships too. There was history of black slaves mixing with white indentured servants. On average, African Americans in the United States have 30 percent European ancestry. Those African Americans in the northern United States may have up to 50 percent European ancestry while those in the Southern states—where laws and cultural values long prohibited racial mixing—may have as little as 10 percent European ancestry. A lot of blacks in the USA are also part Native American. Also it is said that 1/4 of whites in USA have some black blood. Many people mixed with black passed for white. My stepfather's mother who was from Trinidad(in the West Indies) did that in the USA and lived in Boston,Massachussetts where my stepfather was born. also arabs have mixed with blacks in Africa. arabs have populated Africa for thousands of years...especially in the Northern parts of Africa. Therefore many blacks have arab ancestry. Arabs were classified as Caucasoid too. I read about this stuff in Anthropological, sociological books since I was a teenager. I got into this stuff because I wanted to understand my own very mixed ethnic, racial heritage. it's possible that many blacks have builds like whites because of having caucasoid genes. It really depends on how the genes work. when I am talking about typical black build. I am talking about the typical black build in regards to black African....not Black American. I also didn't say anything about blacks being fast runners. I said that I was a very fast runner. I never said that my typical black build from my black father was the factor. There is other things involved like natural quickness in general, a hyperactivity that made me a very fast runner, and I talk about that before in regards to ADHD/Hunter/DRD4 7R gene traits in posts on other threads this is what I actually wrote: "Because I am part black from my father's side, and so I have the typical black person's build in regards to short trunk, long legs/arms. I have big legs like him too. I was very fast, explosive runner." There is nothing that says that I am very fast runner because I am part black. I said that I was very fast, explosive runner, and I didn't connect to that being black. That was not even my intention when I wrote that. However, it's blacks that dominate sprinting events like 100,200 in world championships, olympic games. http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761576599_5/Race.html http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/12620b.htm http://oce.catholic.com/index.php?title=Human_Race Lets agree to disagree.
I am not going to get into the political correctness of racial physical differences which do exist. Raymond

Please be careful with what you are saying here. Not all Black Africans have similar builds. I AM Black African, not African American, 100% black & have a long body. I have lots of Ghanian, Nigerian, Sierra Leonian & South African friends who are not athletic and have short legs. You might not want to get into a discussion about race, but you are stereotyping Black Africans which is unfair. IP: Logged |

I DON'T NEED TO BE CAREFUL!I am not into being politically correct! I also pointed out that there have been a lot of mixing in Africa any way. There has definitely been a lot of mixing in USA. I NEVER even said that blacks had anything to do with running nor any other athleticism in the first post that I did. DON'T put words in my mouth! There was no stereotyping. I am talking about the things that I read from sociological, anthropological books. thousands of years, people have mixed in Africa. Arabs have occupied Africa for over a thousand years.
there is a possibility significant mixture that can lead to varying body builds in Africa. Raymond

i didnt say that you said that. those were my own words about "some can run" what i did have a problem with was what i put in the quotes from you on my previous posts. that was a complete stereotype. we have enough of that coming from other races. quote: it's possible that many blacks have builds like whites because of having caucasoid genes
all africans do not have the same build either, sorry. who wrote these books you read? all europeans, or any people from a particular country or continent for that matter, do not have the same build. of course glaucus, we are agreeing to disagree. nothing personal at all. i think you should have thought that one out a bit better. i was actually shocked to read that coming from you.IP: Logged |

I am 100 percent Black African. By your theory I should have long legs & short body as this is the typical Black African body. You did say that didn't you. Correct me if I am wrong? IP: Logged |

OK, there was a lot of mixing of Arabs in Africa - I'm not disputing that.
So where in Africa is the "Black person with a typical Black body" come from. Which country in Africa does he/she reside, what tribe do they belong to? IP: Logged |

a lot of mixing going on in Africa though for thousands of years though. I already pointed that out.there is always a possibility somebody who thinks that he or she is 100 percent black to have a nonblack ancestor going back thousands of years ago. if you even a non-black ancestor a 1,000 years ago, and that offspring mixes with a fullblooded black person, and their child does the same thing and so on.....even to recent times, then people today would think that they are all black. Some people have that mentality here in USA in regards to their being all black when they are not all black and have some white ancestors. Even some whites here in USA who think that their all white have some black ancestors. 1/4 of whites have some black ancestors. Dr. Watson, the DNA pioneer, found out that he had more Black ancestry than the average white person. Raymond

i read what you said very carefully before i posted a reply. you should do the same. like i said the main issue was your quote i reposted twice. everything else, well, we already know about race mixing in america. that is nothing new. most of us are already educated in that area. so you are saying you should not "be careful" or politically correct? this has nothing to do with either. you just stereotyped millions of people, namingly your own. any ways....I am done with this thread. People can't even talk about racial differences without people jumping on people's butts. This is coming from a person who acknowledges his own mixed ethnic, racial heritage but also acknowledges the racial differences and how he is mixture of racial differences and don't fit stereotypes of any race, especially not black even though I am considered black under the unofficial one drop rule like Barack Obama who has a white mother and black father like I do. Unlike him, I don't consider myself "black" , I consider myself multiracial because I want to acknowledge, embrace all parts of my heritage. I want everybody to acknowledge every part of me and not just the black part of me. That's been the strongest theme in my life, and that could be reflected by the t-square of Moon in Pisces in 6th square the opposition of retrograde Saturn in Gemini in 9th and Jupiter-Neptune in Sagittarius in 3rd. The Pisces/Neptune influence fits with my beliefs in unity, universal love which stems from my experiences as multiracial person and my multicultural background but also being referred to as "confused" because I am mixed as well as my own confusion about where do I fit in as a human being, especially when I had to make a choice of what race to check on forms. It also fits with not actually knowing my roots in that I never knew my black father nor his family, and so I don't know any of my actual black relatives on his side. My mom never knew her mother either, and so I don't know the relatives on my mom's mother side either. So a lot of my relatives, roots I am not familiar with. Being born in the diverse, liberal city of San Francisco and growing up in diverse city of Sacramento also fits with who and what I am in regards to diversity. any ways....somebody made a point about the astrological stuff. It's like the astrological descriptions were written for white people. A lot of non-white, mixed people don't fit the astrological descriptions. personally,I think a lot of Astrology stuff is outdated, and that's why I don't focus much on zodiac sign placements and focus mostly on aspects. I am also interested in Sociological Astrology which focuses on racial, ethnic, cultural matters. Mu'Min Bey writes stuff on that. I think political correctness can be a problem in Astrology. I do wish that there were a lot more books written by astrologers with black ancestry too. Basil Fearington is the only black astrologer that has astrological books published. I don't like his book because he's a follower of Noel Tyl which I don't really care for. There is another black astrologer, but she wrote an astrology book on sunsigns in relation to blacks. I don't like astrological sunsigns books, especially when it comes to racial-oriented stuff. any ways I am done with this thread. Raymond

i figured you would be done with this thread. also,i see you are not willing to acknowledge what you have said. btw you are not the only person who is "multicultural" and diverse. also,i have many friends of many races, cultures, and countries.also you are not the only one who accepts both sides of their heritage. also the one drop of black blood rule was created by slavemasters. the terms mulatto, quadroon, and others are also racist. no one says "i have one drop of asian blood so that makes me asian" you are not the only educated person here as well.IP: Logged |

What I find sad here is you do not have the sensitivity to realise you have offended people with your comments based on racial stereotypes. You talk endlessly about how you are against prejudice & labelling of this group & that group, yet you have done the same thing here in this thread by pigeonholing all Africans. It's an eye opener Raymond, it really is. IP: Logged |

there is just one more thingI believe that we shouldn't get the belief in racial differences and racism mixed up. I notice that happens a lot. As a society,we can get really politically correct about things and think that belief in racial differences and being conscious of race is racism. That can be very troubling. The definition of racism is when you hate, discriminate a person because of his/her race. It is also the belief of race superiority like believing one's own race is more superior than another's race which leads to hatred, discrimination of that person because of the perceived inferiority of that race.
I am a person believes in racial diversity, but I also believe in racial equality. I believe that all races are equal. I believe that no race is superior and that no race is inferior. I don't hate anybody based on race nor do I believe that anybody should have racial hatred. I don't believe in mistreating others based on race. I don't believe in any type of special treatment, favoritism that is race-based. I believe that there are differences when it comes to race that show in physical features. I also don't believe that any racial physical feature is more attractive becauseof racial differences. I believe that all races are equal on the average in regards to looks. I believe that races are equal on the average in regards to intelligence. I do believe that there is a possibility that there can be racial differences in regards to physiology, immunity to certain to diseases,or susceptible to diseases. I also believe in cultural differences can factor into things as in expressing emotions, communications, and social things. I believe that there can be a problem when we believe that everybody is all alike, and so when we encounter differences in people, they are seen as being something wrong with them. This goes especially for neurological differences. If a person has different neurological processing, he/she is viewed as being disordered, brain malfunctions, and so needs to be medicated like people with ADHD are as seen as needing Ritalin or some other medication or other people viewed as stupid, slow because they process information in way that is incompatible with the auditory sequential teaching methods that are in most schools. A lot of people believe in zodiac sign differences. We acknowledge that zodiac signs themselves are associated with certain type of traits. There are lot of people that even believe people of sunsigns have certain traits. There is a lot of stereotyping of people of certain sunsigns that can even be Astro-racism...when you start thinking bad of other people based on their chart in regards to their zodiac sign placements, especially sunsigns.
One of things that I like about astrology is that it shows that we all have similarities as well as differences regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, etc. That's one of the reasons that I love Astrology so much. It shows that we're all connected and we can share things that go deeper than the physical. After all,Astrology is about the metaphysical. I believe that we all have souls, and those are metaphysical and not physical. Things like racism(in regards to all races) and sexism(not just male sexism against females, also female sexism against males) makes no sense to me. It's stupid.
But yeah......belief in racial differences doesn't mean racism. Different doesn't mean deficient. When you believe that racial differences mean deficiency, then that's when it's racism.
I think intolerance of diversity in general is one of the biggest problem on our planet. We can both be equal and different. We don't have to be the same to be equal. People that are different from each other can co-exist side by side and mix with each other too.
that's all I want to say.
Raymond

basing things on americans is tricky, because (without intention to offend) americans are all imigrants. that country is of mixed race decent all together. many countries imigrated to that land, so many genetics mixed around.i watched a documentary once about england (where i am from btw) and they believe, all english people were brown eyes, and possibly brown hair. but because of the vikings coming over, our people began to inherit blue eyes and blonde hair. its just a fact. it doesn't matter if alot of black people or colored people have other colored eyes. its just a common fact, that most black people have dark or 'black' eyes. and no one can call me racist because like Glaucus, im quite mixed my self. and im pretty sure that alot of black people with common dark eyes, have a PISCES MOON. or a PISCES SUN. who have dark eyes. or just not bright blue eyes. maybe what you COULD say, is people with blue eyes, make it easier to spot a pisces moon., but bright blue eyes belong to genetics, not astrology. if were believing in astrology, then astrology emphasizes how the eyes come accross, e.g. scorpio - intense. pisces - dreamy. etc etc etc.. henry fonda was known for his BRIGHT BLUE eyes. and he was a libra moon. 1 of my friends, she has a libra moon, and she has dark brown eyes. so thats why i just think its completely irrelevent about people saying scorpio = dark intense eyes. pisces = bright blue eyes. its just not true, atall. no matter what the color, the eyes are still going to be prone to give off the same 'feeling' of dreamyness if its pisces, or intense if it is scorpio etc. we have dark brown eyes, hazel eyes, green eyes, blue eyes, bright, dark, etc etc. all of these eyes belong to people with a pisces/scorpio/libra/aries/etc etc moon/sun. there for its just stupid that people generalize or claim that bright blue eyes = PiSCES. when it doesnt. iv seen people with these eyes, bright blue, but they were intense, and tada they were a scorpio sun or moon. What is the 'typical' African build? My mother and father are both Northern Mozambicans (albeit from different ethnic groups) and one's family is naturally short, while the other's family is naturally tall and lean. Yeah, they aren't 100% black African but you'll still find these variations amongst almost everyone there. There isn't really a set way that anyone should look, *regardless* of the history of mixing with foreigners. IP: Logged | |
