I hate when people are passive-aggressive about my vegetarianism. There have been numerous situations and examples where my vegetarianism/veganism has been victim to passive-aggressive behavior. There have been so many times where I have ordered something without the meat part of a dish and have found a piece of chicken hidden under something (i.e. lettuce, bread) on my plate or where I order something 'without cheese' and still get one of my food items drenched in cheese. I especially can't stand when my food is intentionally undercooked or screwed up because I ordered my food in a way that requires the cook to not put the damn cheese and meat on my plate!

Librarising, I've noticed that too!! Also, people are that way with people who don't drink alcohol.

It seems to make some meat eaters and drinkers really irrationally angry that someone else would choose to abstain.

I want to point out too

there can be 2 sides to an issues

There are vegetarians/vegans that are very self righteous when it comes to people eating meat. I am not saying all nor most either.

Just as meat eaters give vegetarians/vegans a hard time, vegetarians/vegans give meat eaters a hard time.

in regards to what I hate

I don't want to use words like hate any more. I feel that it gives too much passion and energy to what I have a problem with.

I will say what disturbs me or concerns or what is a petpeeve

it's mainly intolerance of diversity in general when it comes to anything

I don't like when people are called "stupid", "ignorant", "inferior" "childish" or other things and being treated like they can't think and be attacked because a person states views that he doesn't agree with.

A lot of times, I try to refrain from saying things like "I know" because I don't want people to think that I am arrogant, condescending,or a "know-it-all" Therefore, I mostly use words like "I believe" or "I feel" or "I have an opinion of or a view" or "I think"

I just feel that there are serious Eris issues on our planet.

It’s Eris’ Co-Discoverer, Michael Brown that seemed to give the clue to Eris’ meaning

“She causes strife by causing arguments among men, by making them think their opinions are right and everyone else’s is wrong, ” Brown said. “It really is just perfect.” )

That seems to fit with controversy, stirring stuff up, defying the status quo,ideology,diversity,divergence,considerate/inconsiderate of viewpoints/opinions/beliefs/values,bigotry,terrorism, redefining boundaries, equal/civil rights, advocacy, standing up for self/others.

That's another one of mine: when people just don't mind their own business and let others live their lifestyle the way they want (as long as it hurts no one).

exactly

you can apply that to the gay marriage issue here in USA

conservatives should mind their own business.
gay marriage has nothing to do with them

why should they be concerned. they are not living with gays. They are not forced to be at gay weddings. they certainly aren't eating with them

so why should they give a damn

there was time of that there were issues with interracial marriages.

I see gay marriage issue as no different from interracial marriage issue back in the 1960's

but self righteous hypocrisy runs rampant, and it's often based on religion.

religion has always been used by certain people to promote bigotry and inequality.

I agree overzealous, in your face vegetarians/vegans are annoying but I'm not one. I never push my thoughts or opinions about the subject on others because I think it is a lifestyle choice that is not mine to enforce or preach. I'm not one to scold someone for eating meat in front of me because it's none of my business and I am fine as long as animal bits are thrown in my direction.

Glaucus,
I agree with you on the same-sex marriage debate. I'm in RI and it has become a very heated debate because we have a populace that is 'democratic' but religious and surrounded by states that allow same-sex marriage... There is much pressure here to pass it but we have a Republican Governor (yet we are a blue state) who has publicly denounced same-sex marriage, spoken about his support for NOM, and if the bill is passed he plans to veto it. I worked on the most recent campaign for Marriage Equality in this state and was able to attend the hearing for the Marriage Equality Bill which granted me firsthand experience of what the other side's issues are. According to them, "gays are bad for kids", "gays will burn in hell", "gays are the cause of AIDs... they will die out", "kids deserve a mom and a dad", "kids will be incomplete without a mom and dad", "if you pass it my marriage won't count", "I don't want my marriage to be degraded by having gays marry", "my rights will be lost if you pass this bill", and "if this bill is passed you will have to answer to God". Another thing that was common in the testimonies was that they equated same-sex couples to drug addicts, prostitutes, and single-moms which, according to them, are all "bad for children"... there was also a trend about how their religious rights would be violated if the bill was passed.
I just don't get it.
