If you assumed, that I was playing with some thoughts again, you assumed right. Just had some basic ideas on a possible (not the one and only ) method to categorize asteroids in synastry and figuring out a certain emphasis on either sexual, romantic or platonic interaction. Just a rather rough draft:
My thoughts:
0. Reference objects: Sun, Moon, ASC 1. Fate objects: Saturn, Karma, NN, Destinn 2. Binding objects: Union, Boda, Briede, Groom 3. Romance: Venus, Juno, Valentine, Psyche 4. Sexual: Mars, Eros, Pluto, BML 5. Closeness: Moon, Ceres, Amor, Psyche - I know I have Psyche here twice For the calculation I am using this system: easy / flowing aspects, which would promote harmony: conjunction - trine - sextile challenging tension aspects, which could point to a very strong attraction in the beginning (if involving sexual objects), but which mostly detoriate and bring discord: opposition - square - quinkunx Points for the harmonious aspects: conjunction: 3 points trine: 2 points sextile: 1 point Points for the tension aspects: square: 3 points opposition: 2 points quinkunx: 1 Point Extrapoints:
exact aspects (00°00 - 00°59): 1 Extra-point DW`s: 2 Extrapoints Out of the categorization I would give 2 Extrapoints for every Yin-Yang pair (from the romance and sexual category): Sun-Moon Venus-Mars Eros-Psyche Venus-Eros Venus-Pluto Valentine - Mars Valentine - Eros Valentine-Pluto Psyche-Mars Psyche-Eros Psyche-Pluto With the conjunctions and trines I would note the underlying element, as both aspects connect the same elements, which would probably be very much emphasised in terms of how the aspect is expressed. Example: In one of my synastries his Mars is exact trine my Eros. I would interprete that as a flowing / easy / harmonious (trine) sexual attraction (Mars-Eros). Since his Mars is in Pisces, and my Eros is in Cancer, the element water would be emphasized. So I`d think that beneath the sexual attraction there is a very emotional ground (might be not as spicy as a Mars-Eros from Aries to Leo for example, but involving more sensitivity). I have also thought about keywords for the aspects; there are of course many, but these came instantly to my mind: conjunction: melding opposition: polarizing trine: flowing square: challenging sextile: supporting / friendly quinkunx: disconcerting I would make a table for the different categories, and list every aspects for each person, divided into positive and negative ones, and also noting the total. I think you may be able to spot this way more easily, why people may feel different in a connection.
For example I have one synastry here where there are just little aspects with Moon, Amor and Ceres, and for one person there are ONLY negative / challenging aspects to his Amor (Moon and Ceres has no aspects at all). Makes me think that it might have been difficult to maintain a compassionate, loving attitude to the other person, despite considerable sexual attraction (they have a VERY high level of sexual attraction aspects, partly very difficult ones like Mars exactly opposing Pluto or Eros exactly square Eros). They have stayed together for 10 years nevetheless, which seems weird. But first of all: it was a bit of a long distance relationship (little emphasis on closeness, like shown in the Moon, Amor and Ceres aspects). But the other reason may have been that they have had extremely binding aspects, most of them positive, including JUNO conjunct TRUE NODE and BODA, and BODA trine VALENTINE. IP: Logged |

Thank you, Lara, but actually it was not THAT much work.It just fell into place. Oh one word on the orbs:
I am using: 3 degree for conj / Opp. 2 degree for trine / square 1 degree for sextile / quink. IP: Logged |

I wouldn`t consider name asteroids for the categorization-system. It is just about what I consider the most basic asteroids - at least for now.BUT of course we can interprete and analyze any other asteroids, too. Name asteroids I would see as Reference objects, as they are points of your core identity. For example: If someone else`s Amor conjuncts my name in my chart, it could be similiar to his Amor conjunct my ASC. I feel loved (Amor) for the part that I see in myself (my name in my chart). Someon`s Moon and Juno are conjunct my name in my chart. I wonder if that means that he would consider me a good choice for a wife. lol IP: Logged |

DD.But the other reason may have been that they have had extremely binding aspects, most of them positive, including JUNO conjunct TRUE NODE and BODA, and BODA trine VALENTINE.Why do you think this are extremely binding? Why do you not use briede, groom when you use boda in the categorization? I like the categoriation you did but I miss BML in the sexual attraction. IP: Logged |

Yeah, I was thinking about BML, as well as Aphrodite and Lust. But I want to maintain a balance - meaning the same number of objects in every category (otherwise it would distort the picture)- plus I want to figure out the real basic ones. Now, speaking of BML I think it is a real flaw that it has been left out there. But I haven`t figured out a way yet how to include it without distrubing my balance (which pretty much reflects BML`s nature, disturbing the balance. lol). Yes, I would consider Briede and Groom as soulmate pairings, like Proserpina and Pluto. Maybe they would belong into the Binding category, too. I have used them actually myself this way. But I am yet not totally sure about that. Maybe they belong there. That would give us 5 binding factors to consider, meaning we would have to have 5 factors in all of the other categories, too (or we can`t really tally them up and weigh their emphasis against each other).

A slightly different system could be like: 1. Fate objects: Saturn, Karma, NN, Destinn
2. Binding objects: Union, Boda, Briede, Groom 3. Romance: Venus, Juno, Valentine, Psyche 4. Sexual: Mars, Eros, Pluto, BML 5. Closeness: Moon, Ceres, Amor, Psyche - I know I have Psyche here twice EDIT: I like this one better actually, as Juno, even though called the "marriage asteroid", has some more romantic overtones, too, whereas Union, Boda, Briede and Groom are more "neutral", they don´t have particular sexual, intimate or romantic overtones, they just become this when coupled with the according asteroids.
For example: Boda-Valentine could be very romantic, whereas Boda-Eros seems to be more sexual. IP: Logged |

Maybe it be difficult to keep it in limit. There are so many astrological couple as isis, osiris, siva, kaali, parvati pluto, persephone, proserpina eros, psyche jupiter, juno hera, zeus and so on...I think it looks like good to start in the catogorization of the asteroids for synastry you describe her. I think that give a good picture of how the relationships work..... I will check out

After that categorization, I definitely would look at the soulmate pairings - of course! Isis - Osiris Proserpina - Pluto Psyche - Eros Juno - Jupiter Hera - Zeus Kaali - Siva Inannen - Adonis Venus/Aphrodite - Mars They seem to have a common theme, just in the different mythological contexts.
I see these pairings very much as having Sun/Moon-quality (the mature soulmates, king and queen so to speak): Isis-Osiris Juno-Jupiter Hera - zeus Proserpina - Pluto
And these carry more Venus/Mars vibes to me (prince and princess, the more sexually vibrations) Psyche - Eros Kaali - Siva Inannen - Adonis Venus / Aphrodite - Mars
BTW what about a category for happiness and Luck?
Happiness: Jupiter, Tyche, Fortuna, felicitas? BTW Tyche, Fortuna, Felicitas are all roman / Greek Goddesses. I have the feeling that I should limit my categories to "Gods/Goddesses including Adonis and Psyche, who only BECAME god and Goddess after their union with their counterparts". At least for the emotional categories I would mainly consider Gods and Goddesses. Fate and binding objects may work on a different level.

I have checked the synastry with this system, which was very timeconsuming. lolThe couple has been 10 years together, often in a workrelated distance relationship, but broke up with each other after these 10 years; they are still "friends" and often work together. I wrote down all the aspects of one category from each person`s perspective, and noted the points for the aspects. aspects with a * are exact and get an extra point. The points are in brackets.
This listing looks like this for the SEXUAL ATTRACTION category:
SEXUAL ATTRACTION for P:
Mars opposes A`s Pluto* (-3) Mars quinkunx A`s Groom* (-2) Pluto trines A`s Eros (2) Eros opposes A`s Mars (-2) Eros squares A`s Eros* (-4) Eros opposes A`s Destinn (-2) Eros trines A`s Tyche (2) BML opposes A`s Saturn* (-3) BML conjuncts A`s Pluto (3) BML opposes A`s BML (-2) positive: 7 points negative: 18 points total: 25 points
SEXUAL ATTRACTION for A: Mars trine P`s Saturn* (3) Mars opposes P`s Eros (-2) Pluto opposes P`s Mars* (-3) Pluto trine P`s Juno (2) Pluto conjunct P`s BML (3) Pluto sextile P`s Destinn* (2) Eros trines P`s Pluto (2) Eros square P`s Eros* (-4) Eros trine P`s Karma (2) Eros sextile P`s Felicitas (1) BML sextile P`s Valentine* (2) BML opposes P`s BML (-2) positive: 17 negative: 11 total: 28 points You can already see that for both sexual attraction was of similiar importance (24 points vs. 28 points), but that A apparently experienced it in a more harmonious way (17 harmonious aspects) than P (17 challenging aspects). Of course especially with sexual attraction the challenging aspects can trigger an overwhelming strong attraction at first, but it usually detoriates quickly.
If you look a bit more closely you see, that A has a very challening natal constellation. Saturn conjunct BML (and Chiron) opposing Pluto (and Uranus) - and P`s BML sitting on A`s Pluto is getting into this configuration; it must have felt like a pretty fatal attraction, changing between electric passionate attraction (Pluto on BML) and rejection (Saturn opposing BML). Hi DD,I actually tried it out last night and got some interesting feedback. The first is my (ex) husband - we're separated - and the second is someone I met over the summer who has kind of thrown me for a loop. My husband and I have been together for 11 years married for 6 and have a 4 year old daughter. Great friends, adequate lovers. The other guy I met was a lightening bolt and haven't been able to shake him since. So far it's been a roller coaster (he left his wife the same week I left my husband but we hadn't met yet). Amazing physical chemistry, telepathy, similar pasts, similar presents. Sorry - I did pos's and neg's instead of groups, but here's what I got - hope this helps your research. Also, I did this before you had added the luck asteroids, so they're not included and I don't have either birth hour so have only counted my AC. Now having calculated all the points, I did three tables with three columns. There was an INTENSITY column, which contained the total sum of points for each category, and the other two columns differentiated between HARMONIOUS and CHALLENGING aspects. I did this listen for the relationship in total, as well as for each person.
I was especially interested in these categories:
Bonding Closeness Romance and sexual attraction It could fit well with Sternbergs theory of relationships or love, saying that there are three building blocks: commitment, intimacy and passion.
In my theory the equation would look like: bond= committment closeness= intimacy romance / sexual= passion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangular_theory_of_love RELATIONSHIP INTENSITY (this shows how much the THEME is empasised, no matter if positively or negatively) Closeness (65) Happiness (64) Bonding(63) Romance (57) Sexual (52) Fate (34) HARMONY Bond (36) Sexual (24) Romance (22) Happiness (22) Fate (21) Closeness (12) CHALLENGE Closeness (47) Happiness (42) Romance(31) Sexual (28) Bond (23) Fate (23) You can see on a first glance that CLOSENESS / INTIMACY will really be a problem in this relationship. It is a very important theme here (1st place in intensity), but it has the least positive aspects and the most negatives ones. Probably these people always struggled for intimacy and being close to each other, but it didn´t really come naturally to them; they had to put hard work into it. This was for both of them a problem, as the listing for each of them shows (for A closeness had the least positive aspects and the second often negative ones; for P it was similiar). The next most important category, actually almost equally with Closeness, was BONDING; it was also the one with the most positive aspects in general. So commitment seems to have been strong throughout the relationship.
Interestingly it was the single most important category for A with the most positive aspects in relation to other categories (there still were more challenging aspects even in bonding). What is very noteable is that for P also BONDING had the most positive aspects, and the smallest number of negative ones. So P must have experienced that bonding in a harmonious way, BUT BONDING had the fewest aspects from his perspective, so this category was not really high on his priority list. This makes me think that it was A who worked hardest for the commitment and maintaining the relationship, but that P likely was easy to be convinced because of the harmony that existed in commitment for him. I could go on forever here.
So, just looking at the relationship aspects and their frequency, the order is like this: 1. Closeness 3. Bonding 4. Romance 5. Sexual attraction Personally I would just consider the highest 3 categories as dominant in a relationship.
So that would indicate an emphasis on Intimacy and comitment here. Sternberg calls that: Companionate love: "Companionate love is an intimate, non-passionate type of love that is stronger than friendship because of the element of long-term commitment. Sexual desire is not an element of companionate love. This type of love is often found in marriages in which the passion has gone out of the relationship but a deep affection and commitment remain. The love ideally shared between family members is a form of companionate love, as is the love between close friends who have a platonic but strong friendship." This would probably be the relationship in total. But each person may have a different view on the relationship.
A`s Perspective: 1. Bond 3. Sexual attraction This would be a combination of commitment and passion, called: Fatuous love: "Fatuous love can be exemplified by a whirlwind courtship and marriage in which a commitment is motivated largely by passion without the stabilizing influence of intimacy. A relationship, however, whereby an individual party agrees to sexual favors purely out of commitment issues, or is pressured/forced into sexual acts does not comprise Fatuous love, and instead tends more to Empty love." P`s perspective: 1. Romance 3. Closeness
That would be a combination of Passion and Intimacy (even though with much more romantic overtones than in A´s case): Romantic love: Romantic love bonds individuals emotionally through intimacy and physically through passionate arousal. I think it is very intersting to see how different both people obviously felt in the relationship, and how the relationship itself seemed to be different from each person`s view again. In this case it seems that A had more sexual attraction as well as an interest in maintaining the relationship as long as possible and work for it, while P was more romantic, maybe more "in love" and also was working harder for gaining understanding, compassion and some form of emotional closeness.
Just a few thoughts.

EKF,there are some seriously intense aspects with your friend! "Venus trine Pluto 2 + 2" Why did you give it 4 points? 2 points for trine, okay, 2 points because it is a Yin-Yang-pair?
Interestingly in the synastry I posted there were just NO of these Yin-Yang-pairings. "Pluto conj Valentine 3 + 2" WOW! That must be so intense and transformative.
""Eros trine AC 2 + 1 Another of these magnetic aspects. I guess it is exact in your case, too?
"Sun Sq Pluto 3 Sun Opp Pluto 2" Looks extra intense to me. But maybe too intense to handle. Could be absolutely overwhelming, or could lead to powerstruggles. One interpretation could be "Total and edgy transformation of the Ego / Self".
I am considering narrowing down the system again, and - for the calculation- just leaving the categories BONDING, CLOSENESS, ROMANCE / PASSION in there, and using the fated objects as reference objects like Sun, Moon and ASC, too.

"Why did you give it 4 points? 2 points for trine, okay, 2 points because it is a Yin-Yang-pair?" Exactly. We also have an exact Pluto trine Persephone. ""Eros trine AC 2 + 1. I guess it is exact in your case, too?" Exact, yes
"Looks extra intense to me. But maybe too intense to handle. Could be absolutely overwhelming, or could lead to powerstruggles. One interpretation could be "Total and edgy transformation of the Ego / Self".
Don't really know yet. We're not actually IN the relationship. Neither one of us can stay away from each other despite our best attempts. He's actually told me that he's tried to control himself and stay away from me (capricorn), but he always comes back. IQ said it was a very fated attraction for me, which I knew immediately. I've never felt/lived anything quite like it. We're both very strong willed and both so used to controlling every situation around us, so power struggles are a definite option. I think so far the transformation has really been in both of us trying to give up control and let it just be what it is. I checked my ego at the door long ago. Every now and then it rears it's ugly head, but it always seems to lose the battle in the end. IP: Logged |

Yeah, I thought we are using conjunction, opposition, trine, square, quinkunx and sextile with the above mentioned planets / asteroids (I excluded the happiness ones again; it is getting too much).Orbs: conjunction and opposition: 3 degrees trine and square: 2 degrees sextile and quinkunx: 1 degree I`m still pondering about how to discern what type of love is being illustrated. Probably I would compare the numbers, and would only count these which are close together.
Example: Intimacy / Closeness: 45 points Romance / Passion: 42 points Bonding / Commitment: 30 points In this case I would only count the first two, as they would be stronger in the relationship, which would make it a romance I think? Also, Sternberg points out that relationships and the type of love changes over time; so maybe it would make sense doing the same with the progressed charts, too? (of course the overall numbers will become bigger, as we are comparing pr - pr and pr-natal)

Comica, yes, I think you did it as I imagined it to be done; not sure if that is right though. 1. Fate: Positive Points: 18 Negative Points: 34 - karma to deal with? Total: 52 His Perspective: 31 - Positive: 13 - Negative: 18 My Perspective: 31 - Positive: 5 - Negative: 26 I am a bit confused here, cause you wrote that the total is 52, but your perspective shows 31 and his perspective shows 31, did you mistype and meant 62?
2. Binding:
Positive Points: 39 Negative Points: 20 Total: 59 + 2 (1DW) = 61 His Perspective: 41 - Positive: 23 - Negative: 18 My Perspective: 27 - Positive: 23 - Negative: 4 FRom this high result it seems that Commitment / Binding is a very important thing in your relationship. Since it is predominantly positive for both of you, and amazingly evenly distributed, it seems that it is a real strength of this relationship. This Bondedness to each other. In the other synastry I checked it was similiar to yours, some difficult / challenging aspects in the other areas, BUT the binding factors were positive. Maybe that is needed for a workable relationship? High positive/ harmonious commitment? 3. Romance: Positive Points: 15 Negative Points: 23 Total: 38 + 2 (1DW) + 4 (2YY Pair) = 44 His Perspective: 20 - Positive: 12 - Negative: 8 My Perspective: 19 - Positive: 7 - Negative: 12 I guess that is good enough, too.But it is intersting how his romantic planets get the most harmonious aspects, and yours have more challenging. Can you relate to it? 4. Sexual:
Positive Points: 17 Negative Points: 28 Total: 45 + 4 (2YY Pair) = 49 His Perspective: 23 - Positive: 7 - Negative: 16 My Perspective: 24 - Positive: 10 - Negative: 14 Again interesting that there is such a high amount of challenging aspects; but I see this area in a bit of a different light, as I feel that challenging aspects in the sexual area can even give a boost to the attraction, especially if they are Yin-Yang planets or both belonging to the sexual category. The question is, does that attraction last?
5. Closeness: Positive Points: 11 Negative Points: 26
Total: 37 His Perspective: 17 - Positive: 5 - Negative: 12 My Perspective: 22 - Positive: 6 - Negative: 16 Is that a problematic area for the two of you? Or I am thinking, if you can`t relate to that, maybe I have to "compose" the categories in different ways? I mean wouldn`t Valentine aspects or Juno aspects bring some intimacy, too?
Just wondering... Lara, can you split your aspects as Comica did? Thanks. IP: Logged |

quote: I am a bit confused here, cause you wrote that the total is 52, but your perspective shows 31 and his perspective shows 31, did you mistype and meant 62?
Actually, the value of "total" is the total value of all the aspects together, while the values in each of our perspectives are the values of the aspects only related to each of us. In our case, in the Fate category, the value of his perspective is 31, which is the sum of all the aspects related to his fate objects. About the commitment/binding category, based on the objects you used, maybe the value can show how much a couple sees each other as "the partner"? I would agree that it's an important aspect to consider, coz it might drive each other to have a solid sense of relationship. Maybe it can make a difference as in between "just a romantic case" and "he/she is the ideal partner" in some cases?
quote: I guess that is good enough, too.But it is intersting how his romantic planets get the most harmonious aspects, and yours have more challenging. Can you relate to it?
Maybe lol~ I can misunderstand his way of expressing affection sometimes, so that I need him to express more affection to make me feel secure. But otherwise I guess that there are no big problems. About the closeness categorization, yeah I guess that this is the problematic area. It's not really about lack of closeness thought, but more about understanding, nurturing and compassion (more to do with Ceres/Moon theme maybe). We care for each other and try to support each other, but it seems that the way we try to support each other goes wrong sometimes (like saying the wrong words in the moment the other needs support, even if we intend to help). But well, by time, we are able to understand each other better now.
