What aspects between eros and psyche are most important between people in synastry? Hard aspects or soft? and what orbs should be used?IP: Logged |

hard aspects are stronger (since personally sextiles, trine shouldn't count?) Conjunctions within 3 orbs. And I would expect the house it falls in to be quite important also.IP: Logged |

I wouldn't discount the trine. It's a MAJOR aspect. I don't understand why people say they don't count trines.... I FEEL trine energy. I'd MUCH rather have a trine than a square ANY day of the week. Trines symbolize harmony, squares symbolize disharmony. Why would you want disharmony over harmony??? But hey, this is just my humble opinion. It's seems that over the past few years, some people outright don't even count trines and say trines shouldn't be counted in synastry. Everytime I read that I'm like why???? What's the justification for this???? Because (thy assume) most people don't feel the easy energy of a trine? Well, like I said, I feel trine energy, especially between mercury, VERY easily.------------------ Virgo Asc 6˚& Mars 0˚ Gemini Sun 24˚ Libra Moon 14˚(conjunct Pluto 0˚ in 2nd house) Gemini Mercury 25˚ Cancer Venus 29˚ (Mutual reception with Moon) And yes, i'm a guy! hi ami ann!i've had serious experience with eros. my ex and i had a very intensely sexual and passionate relationship. his eros is conjunct my ascendant (0 orb) which was conjunct my jupiter (0 orb) and neptune (3 orb) and square my moon (2 orb). his venus is square my psyche (0 orb) and his jupiter is square my psyche (2 orb) he was sun in aries, moon in sag and leo rising with venus in aries and mars in scorpio... yea i know! but were are still, to this day, irresistible to each other. being in the same room, you're bound to see smoldering flames build between us the closer we get. definitely a lot of possessiveness and power games. although we both have natal pluto contacts with our IC/MC axis. i personally have venus conjunct psyche (0 orb) in the first house. since there are so many pluto and scorpio qualities to me and my ex's natal and synastry, i don't know how much i can isolate the effect of eros and psyche. although, the eros conjunct my ascendant is pretty strong since the orb is so exact. Oh I wasn't thinking about squares, haha you're right, trines would be more pleasant. Squares are frustrating, but sometimes you learn from them. But really I meant trines and sextiles shouldn't count for eros/psyche bc I remember reading that tight conj are only counted? Yes trines for moon, venus and merc are =)

My boyfriend and i have Eros conjunct Psyche DW. As for the conjunction, it is quite intense.. the house placement is quite significant. His Eros is conjunct my Psyche in Aqua, giving us the ability to read each others minds and sense exactly what the other is feeling. I read that you can use up to 14 degree orbs with these asteroids (for conjunctions), the tighter the orb the more intense. Although it is definitely felt up to 10 deg. (Ours is 7 degrees) The conjunction is the only one that holds an extremely intense effect. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/203759.html IP: Logged |

My boyfriend and I have this aspect (1 degree orb) on the line btwn 7th and 8th house in Scorpio. It's conjunct tightly (approx 1 degree orb) by his moon and my pluto and also conj some other asteriods (adonis, osiris, sappho, destinn etc all within 2 degrees so it's a tight cluster)so I can't say for certain how it feels by it's own, but. Let's just say that it's like everything's burning. It's unfathomable.

Oh come on. Squares are not necessarily disharmony...they're friction, excitement. I don't even view trines as harmony per se. Just like little town you sail past on a drive, and you go, hey, they was a cute town, wasn't it? Yeah, it sure was lol. You blink, you miss it. That's a trine to me. I hate to sound all drama, but trines bore me to tears if there is too much of them. Again though it's got to do with your chart. I need a little tension. You need a balance of friction and harmony to make things interesting...dare I say, real? Too much of one thing or another would be boring. And since we are talking asteroids here...yes, a trine will be less felt. These are whispers in the chart. A square would turn up the volume. A trine would keep it a whisper. IP: Logged |

I agree with you, MVM,to me aspects are not so much about harmony / disharmony, but more indicative of the energy they create. And while the trine is cute and has a smooth energy transfer, it can make you lazy at times and can mean that despite you think someone is "cute", you are not propelled to take any actions. All the aspects are beautiful snowflakes! For me, trines can be pleasant but dull or they can be a pocket of pure, radiant bliss. When they're the latter, it's like a morphine injection for whichever planets are involved. Those parts of me feel so good, so free and true. Synastry that turns a natal trine into a grand trine is especially magically delicious, way better than Lucky Charms. Squares can be major discomfort and hostility or they can be cocaine, revving you up for the planets involved to create something new and significant. I personally like my Venus square another's Venus. I have this with my SO and one of my best friends. It doesn't translate to disharmony, especially with my friend. The square feels more like an unstoppable urge to be together, to have a significant relationship with one another. I often look at the trines as the resources an individual (natal) or couple (synastry and composite) have. Those resources then impact how the individual or couple interpret and act out their squares. The influence goes the other way too: the energy provided by squares make the trines feel more exciting. (This could explain why you, GG, love Mercury trines. As long as someone's truly in tune with you mentally, the squares you two have elsewhere can play out positively. Without that resource, the squares show their ugly side. So not only do Mercury trines bring you their own joy, they also make everything else you have with someone more enjoyable.) Sorry I said nothing about Eros and Psyche. I do like them. They're both significantly placed for me natally and always prominent in synastry. I've been Psyche cnj Eros with someone who I deeply loved. I've also been that with someone who I didn't at all care for in a romantic sense. (Both were 0 degrees.) With the second, I understood him and could easily see what his Eros wanted (the type of love he badly desired to have in his life), but I didn't want to be the one being "his" Psyche in a love relationship way. So even with an aspect as strong as a zero degree cnj, you've gotta look at the synastry as a whole to get a feel for how the people react to one another. IP: Logged |

I think the Eros/Psyche conjunction in synastry is an indication of a very STRONG psychic connection between 2 people.IP: Logged |

Jane, I really like your point of view on this! I'll be sure to see if it rings true in my experiences! MVM, geez young lady! No need to blow a gasket, it's just my HUMBLE opinion! (throwing up the peace sign lol) Just like trines are dull and boring to you, it's the opposite for me. Trines are HUGE for me. To me, it represents peace and harmony. I've never experienced a square the way you describe. I feel them as tension and an area of non-compatibility between the two planets involved whenever I can actually feel their influence. EDIT: Also, trines don't make me lazy. In fact, in my own experiences, if I feel the trine, i'm more likely to take action. If it's a square, I'm more likely to distance myself from the tension. Squares don't draw me to action. I feel them as not so good tension (this is synastry I'm talking about here) if they are dominating the synastry. I ESPECIALLY am sensitive to Mercury squares. They just rear themselves as constant misunderstandings IN MY OWN experiences. But when it's a Merc trine, oh man, the conversations just flooooooooow like a smooth river. It's no wonder that all four of my best friends have their Mercs closely trine or sextile mine. They have been my best friends looooooong before I knew about astrology beyond the sun signs. And in relationships, you can keep the squares. I don't like them. I can tolerate them when the other contacts are good but too many squares make me feel there's too much misunderstanding. I'm also feel that the less tension in a relationship, the better. I can grow without the conflict or tension. But again, no need to get all up in arms because this is just my take on things. You have yours and I respect your pov. Again, no need to get up in arms, this is MY opinion based off MY own personal experiences. So far (I'm gonna try out what Jane said though) I haven't had the good experiences that you and DD talk about when it comes to the square. I dunno, maybe it's because I don't have many in my chart. (I have my Moon/Pluto conjunction square Jupiter in my natal chart and I think that's it) This is why I think I'm more prone to really enjoy the trine and really dislike the square. As for counting the trine with Eros and psyche, I wouldn't do it unless I felt the influence. I just stick with conjunctions and oppositions with them. ------------------ Virgo Asc 6˚& Mars 0˚ Gemini Sun 24˚ Libra Moon 14˚(conjunct Pluto 0˚ in 2nd house) Gemini Mercury 25˚ Cancer Venus 29˚ (Mutual reception with Moon) And yes, i'm a guy!

Jane, beautiful pladoyer for the trine. Can you do one for the sextile, too, please? You mentioned the Grand Trine. I think that is is a special case, as it is simultaneiously also a strong midpointconfiguration. Besides I think ALL short circuit configurations (at least 3 planets all aspecting each other) demand our attention.
Speaking of attention. This is what I meant when mentioning the energy of square aspects. They demand attention, no matter if positive or negative. You NOTICE t hem in a synastry. And GG if you say, they propell you to keep your distance, then this is a DECISION, your way of dealing with squares. But you can only arrive at that decision, because you noticed the energy that comes with the squares, and in your case, you dislike them. That is of course a possibility and dependent on the natal charts. But speaking of this, my chart doesn`t have too many squares either. Only Jupiter squaring Neptune and NN, and Venus squaring Pluto and MC.
Anyway what I want to say is squaring making us take notice, maybe we notice the tension rather than anything else though. Trines can be very nice, I agree with you, Jane. They are like a cushion (dependent on the planets that make the aspects of course, Mars-trines may be a bit more dynamic), they show areas where you are really in tune with each other, where you are compatible, where there is harmony. BUT if you had ONLY trines, you probably wouldn`t even take special notice. This kind of harmony / compatibility is usually being taken for granted. It is just there, and yes, it is enjoyable, but most of the time we do not pay too much attention. So if you speak of harmonious synastries, I think of a lots of nice trines and conjunctions (elemental compatibility), BUT with the spice of a few squares or oppositions or even conjunctions (depending on the planets again). You need something to grab your attention, and that is pretty certain with the square. You WILL notice (even though you may not always like it). Also I think it depends on the planets which make the squares. And then of course it depends on the overall placement of the planets. In all synastries of long lasting couples I have seen there were always squares to significant points or planets. Usually there were also hard aspects from Saturn to personal planets, which I found interesting. But what I also noticed is that Mercury-squares seemed to be quite detrimental. But then again most of the synastries I investigated had Mercury as ruler of ASC, DESC, IC or MC or in strong aspect with Sun or Moon or the angles.

I just met someone with his Eros (& Mercury/Neptune) conj my Psyche! There is a strong attraction. My Moon & Venus are also conjunct his South Node. What I notice is the telepathic nature. He was literally saying what I was thinking. We had some of the conversation in my head on the drive to dinner before we had it. Often, he texts me right as I'm thinking of him. I dreamed of him right away the night we met. So yes, trippy & very telepathic for sure. IP: Logged |
