This idea was growing for quite some time inside my mind now, and it has to do with dispositors of the personal planets.Of course analyzing the dispositors is just like a little piece of the jigsaw puzzle that is synastry, but I was intrigued enough by it to do it nevertheless. Maybe it`s worth something. Anyway, I was thinking (even though probably other astrologers have thought about it before I did, like Stephen Arroyo or Rose Murray for example), that a comparision of the signplacements of the planets and their dispositors (Arroyo calls these "overtones") might give a good basic grip on possible underlying compatibility / attraction. Of course natal aspects would modify this, and of course synastric aspects would intensify the connections, but beneath all of that, there are the planets in certain signs and how they basically get along with each other. As I said it might give a good overview, a place to start, maybe a foundation to build our house (synastric analysis) on.
If you want to give it a try, just note the signplacement of the planets and their dispositors (this would be the sign the ruler of a certain planet is in: example: My Sun is in Sagittarius; dispositer is Jupiter in Pisces, so Pisces is the "overtone" of my Sun).
To asess "underlying compatibility" compare: ° Sun to Sun ° Moon to Moon - that would show compatibility on a personal-emotional level ° IC to IC ° MC to MC - this indicates if your soul needs and your place in the world are in harmony ° Venus to Venus ° Mars to Mars - this indicates the level of possible basic sexual compatibility ° ASC to ASC ° DESC to DESC - how compatible are you when you have got to face the world? How compatible are your relationship needs and relating style? To asess "underlying attraction" compare ° Sun to Moon ° Moon to Sun ° IC to MC ° MC to IC ° Venus to Mars ° Mars to Venus ° ASC to DESC ° DESC to ASC Then have a closer look at what you`ve found. If the dispositors are in the same sign as someone`s planet, there is a subtle understanding and affinity despite possible conflicts on the surface. I also think that it is the person who contributes the dispositor in the fitting sign,w ho understands the other person the most.
Anyway since I like juggling with points, I did a little rating system. Give yourself 3 points for placements in the same sign 2 points for placements in the opposing sign 1 point for placements in the same element 0-5 points: very low / practically non existant 5-10 points: low
10-15 points: low average 15 - 20 points: average 20-25 points: high 25 - 30 points: very high 30+ points: maximal I tried that out with the Newman-Woodward synastry, and they reached a score of 35 points *rolling eyes* They ALWAYS reach maximus scores, don`t they?
Their main dominance was on the compatibility for the Sun - and- Moon-level (I haven`t checked attraction yet though); it was like 37% of their overall score (25% for each category would be average). Of course if the scores are high it does not mean that you will instantly fall in love with each other, it probably only means that you may have a soft warm cushion of understanding and a good potential to get along, which might help a lot with challenging aspects.
Example: Boy`s Saturn in Virgo squares Girl`s Sun in Sagittarius exactly. So far, so bad.
But boy`s dispositor of Saturn is in SAGITTARIUS (Girl`s Sun-sign), and girl`s Sun-dispositor is in PISCES (opposing boy`s Saturn-sign). That probably will modify a little bit how people experience that aspect. LEt`s say in another case we have: Boys Saturn in Leo squares Girl`s Sun in Taurus. Boy`s Saturn-dispositor is in Aquarius, Girl`s Sun-dispositor is in Taurus, too. I would place a bet, that the second couple would experience this square as much more harshly than the first one (with their planets AND dispositors all in squaring signs, AND an actual square!) EDIT: Actually there is an example for this in the synastry with my best friend. My Saturn in Cancer squares her Moon in Aries. My Saturnīs disp is AQUARIUS, and her Moon disp. is LIBRA - actually whenever we hit the bottom with that aspect and there was this push-pull thing coming up with me getting all defensive and she on the verge of getting real hurt by my defensity, both of us took a step back, gave each other breathing space, and then sat down and talked about it, analysed it from a "bird`s perspective". There was a real understanding for why we did the things we were doing, that we were like that because that was just our personality, but not meant to hurt each other, and thus noone of us would take these things too personally. Our airy overtones probably really helped. (the "not taking personal" thing was more difficult for her, though, as she reacted ultrasensitive to any kind of - imagined- hurting; well probably the reason for this can be found in her being the Moon-person, and maybe also because her Moon-dispositor is also in a square sign to my Saturn).

looking at synastry:Sun-Sun Natal/Syn - boys Leo Sun oppose girls Aquarius Sun boys sun in its own sign.. her sun depositer is in Capricorn but its in a critical (0 orb) out of sign Trine to boys sun. Moon-Moon Natal/Syn boys Aries Moon girls Critical degree Capricorn Moon (possibly Aquarius) Boys Mars in Virgo, Girls Moon Depisotr (both Saturn & Uranus conjunct @ 0 Capricorn) = Same element. (do you think it also helps if the boys Moon depositor tightly trines the same depositor plant of the other persons Moon in his Own natal chart = adding similar related energy?, what if the moon aspects Saturn tightly too in his chart?) 1 point so far for Same Element. Boys Ic in Libra, Girls Ic in Virgo Boys Venus In Libra, girls Mercury in Aquarius = same element Air. 1 point boys MC Aries, Girls MC Pisces Boys MC ruler? in Virgo, Girls MC Ruler in Capricorn (trine 1 orb to one another) = Same Element (depositor of boys mars is in virgo too, so tis a definite if i did that wrong either way?) 1 point Boys Venus in Libra, Girls Venus in Aries Boys Venus in its own sign, girls Mars in Sagittarius. 0 pts. Boys Mars in Virgo, Mercury in Virgo. Girls Mars in Sagittarius, Jupiter in Aries 0 pts. Boys ASC Leo, Girls ASC Cancer Boys Sun in leo, own Sign, girls Moon In Capricorn, 0 pts? girls Moon depositor in Capricorn (trine to boys Sun though) Boys DSC in Aquarius, Girls DSC in Capricorn boys DSC ruler in Capricorn, girls DSC ruler in capricorn (conjunct) 3 pts? depositors of both in Capricorn =
3 pts. Sun - Moon = 0 pts Moon - Sun boys Mars as depositor of moon in virgo, girls depositor of moon in capricorn = 1 pt Girls IC Ruler depositor in Capricorn Boys MC Ruler Depositor in Virgo = 1pt boys Ic Ruler Depositor in Libra, Girls MC Ruler in Capricorn = 0 pt boys Mars Depositor in Virgo, girls Venus Depositor in Sagittarius = 0 pt
Boys Venus Depositor in Libra, girls mars Depositor in Aries = 2 pts girls ASC Ruler Depositor in Capricorn, boys DSC Ruler depositor in Capricorn = 3 pts boys ASC Ruler depositor in Leo, girls DSC Ruler Depositor in Capricorn = 0 pts. total = 13
result = low average i think it makes sense, i would consider it a factor amongst the others in synastry such as normal synastric aspects, and rulers of these angles in aspect, and depositors of these planets in aspect to eachother might mean something too.

Letram," i would consider it a factor amongst the others in synastry " I think that is an important thing to keep in mind. Lara,
to be honest I am a bit confused with your listing. I have to look very closely. IP: Logged |

Lara,I think you put compatibility and attraction together, right? I would analyse it separatedly though, especially if you apply the points. The scale is always only in regards to EITHER compatibility OR Attraction (or if you want to put it all together, you have to double the numbers, so 60 points and more would be the highest level of the rating). "° Sun to Sun his sun cj exact my sun 3 points" Yes, I also considered adding an extra point for an actual aspect, which is in reasonable orb (as until now I just considered sign placements alone, but actual aspects would intensify this of course)
"° Moon to Moon "his moon/scorpio/pluto + my moon/aries/pluto(mars in taurus/venus 1 point" I don`t really understand this listing. So his Moon is in Scorpio, right? Then Pluto is the dispositor as well as Mars, so you have to check the sign of Pluto and even more so Mars. Your Moon is in Aries so your dispositor is in Taurus). His Scorpio Moon speaks to your Moon-dispositor in Taurus over the opposition, so 2 points are correct. And of course it also tells you something, that it is over the most passionate axis in the zodiac. ° IC to IC his IC cj my IC 3 points"
"° MC to MC his MC cj my MC 3 points" Jip. Where are the dispositors of your IC or MC, or we could also say, the rulers? "° Venus to Venus his venus sextile my venus exact his venus/gemini/mercury in taurus + my venus/aries/mars in taurus 1 point" His Venus-dispositor is in TAURUS, your Venus-DISPOSITOR is in Taurus, too, so that would actually make 3 points, not 1. "° Mars to Mars his mars semi sextile my mars his mars/aries/pluto + my mars/taurus 1 point for opposition or not?" No, His Mars and Mars-Dispositor are both in ARIES of course. Your Mars is in Taurus (no connection), BUT your Mars-Dispositor is in ARIES, and thus in the same sign as BOTH his Mars sign and Mars-dispositor - that actually makes 6 points. "° ASC to ASC his ASC cj my ASC 3 points"
"° DESC to DESC his DESC cj my DESC 3 points" Yes "° Sun to Moon his moon opp my sun 2 points" Is this in the actual opposing signs, then yes. "his moon/scorpio/pluto... his pluto in virgo trine my sun 1 point" So his Moon-dispositor (Pluto) is in Virgo, your Sun is in Taurus - same element, earth, so yes 1 point. "° Moon to Sun my moon/aries/mars-pluto + his sun/taurus 1 point" Was your mars in Taurus? Anyway, where is his Venus again (cause thatis his Sun-dispositor)? So, your Moon-Dispositor is in TAURUS and his Sun is in TAURUS, same sign gives 3 points. Nice sensual Sun-Moon-connection. As of now I am counting 32 points, which would put you two in the highest category concerning underlaying compatibility. It means that there are quite some similiarities beneath everything else. Just look at the signs you have in common, that really might be your common ground. Even though of course I know this is a little bit simplistic. But it could be a good start to begin a synastric analysis. To see if there is already common ground in the initial sign placements.
EDIT: Oh and this doesn`t seem to be always the case, that couple reach 30 points and more. I also checked the natal comparision for Liz Taylor / Richard Burton and Spencer Tracey / Katherine Hepburn, and even though there were *some* "hooks", the overall result was average to high-average.
The pairings of Paul Newmann / Joanne Woodward and Robert Browning / Elizabeth Barrett Browning on the other hand were both in the maximal or very high - bordering maximal category.

An example for compatibility:Paul Newman - Joanne Woodward ----------------------------- his Sun in AQUARIUS, her Sun is in Pisces, Jupiter, the old ruler of Pisces, is in GEMINI --- so same element, AIR: - - - 1 point his Sun is in Aquarius, Uranus, new ruler of Aquarius, is in PISCES, her Sun in PISCES - so same sign PISCES --- 3 points
his Sun-dispositor in PISCES, the Dispositor, Neptune of her Sun, in VIRGO - so opposing signs - 2 points etc. etc. Another example for attraction: Richard Burton - Liz Taylor (they actually have almost maximal attraction) his Sun and her Moon, are both in SCORPIO
Pluto and Mars are the dispositors of her Moon and both are in water signs, same element as his Sun, so WATER is the common ground here
Pluto as new ruler of his Sun, is in CANCER, her Moon is in SCORPIO, and both her MOon-dispositors are in CANCER and PISCES - so again common ground is water and especially CANCER
his Moon in Virgo, her Sun in Pisces - opposing signs his Moon and her Sun-dispositor (Neptune as ruler of her Pisces-Sun) are both in VIRGO his Moondispositor in Sagittarius (his Moon is in Virgo, ruler of Virgo is MErcury, which is in Sagittarius); her Sun Dispositor (Jupiter as ruler of her Pisces Sun) is in Leo - so the common ground is FIRE.

Amowls, you have to check BOTH, the actual signs of the planets and their dispositors. To make it simple, I always write it like this: person A
Sun: Sagittarius (Pisces) Moon: Aquarius (Scorpio / Cancer) IC: Aries (Sagittarius) MC: Libra (Capricorn) Venus: Capricorn ( Cancer) Mars: Sagittarius (Pisces) ASC: Sagittarius (Pisces) DESC: Gemini (Sagittarius) (The sign in brackets is the sign of the Dispositor). Person B:
Sun: Capricorn (Gemini) Moon: Libra (Sagittarius) IC: Aries (Scorpio) MC: Libra (Sagittarius) Venus: Sagittarius (Capricorn) Mars: Scorpio (Libra / Scorpio) ASC: Sagittarius (Capricorn) DESC: Gemini (Sagittarius) IP: Logged |

You know, DD, this could help answer my question---"Why great synastry and a bad relationship?" To me---Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton had a bad relationship. *I* would not want it. This shows me that maximum attraction is not worth it if that is all you have. That relationship took a terrible toll on both of them. It is very sad. They must have been playing out FOO(family of origin ) patterns. We all play them out. It can't be helped. I don't think. Perhaps, the best you can do is be aware of them and have your partner do the same. I would think that would be the only way and have God ,too. I could not have a relationship where both did not have God. To answer my own question--I am not sure what I am talking about Ami IP: Logged |

Ami,that is exactly the point, w hat you wrote here: "To me---Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton had a bad relationship. *I* would not want it." This is what we always do, all of us, not just you alone. We judge a synastry by our OWN ideas and ideals of how a relationship should be. Now while I certainly would not want such a relationship either, there may be people who crave for exactly that kind of Drama, this intensity, that borders the insane, almost manic-depressive. Laurence olivier and Vivien Leigh would be another example of this. I found it very interesting that Liz Taylor still refers to Richard Burton as one of her two soulmates (Mike Todd being the other one) and she even said in a recent interview, that if Burton was still alive, she would instantly marry him again. Anyway, I also think that some of these "I can`t live without you, but I can`t live with you" relationship scenarios may be due to a high difference in attraction vs. compatibility. In these passionate but volatile relationships people may have ultra strong attraction aspects - probably also strong Pluto aspects, natally and synastrically-, but their compatibility would be limited. On the other hand, if compatibility is high, but attraction is pretty low, this might be relationships that can go on forever, but those in which fformer lovers tend to become friends more than lovers and their sexual life may fade quickly. Yet, their compatibility could keep them together.
My all time favourite "soulmate-couple" is Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett-Browning, and I found it very interesting, that they have an EXACT balance between underlying compatibility and attraction. Intriguing.
"It is very sad. They must have been playing out FOO(family of origin ) patterns." This is of course always a thing to keep in mind. I also think that we need to take oiur natal constellations more strongly into account as we are doing right now. The expression / reception of a Venus-Pluto aspect in synastry always depends on the natals. Just imagine two people have a strong Venus-Pluto synastry, but person A has Virgo and Capricorn-emphasis, while person B has Sagittarius and Aquarius-emphasis. I think this Venus-Pluto-aspect might feel like a shock to tehm, and probably will not be very well received. I on the other hand LOVE Pluto-synastry. No, not love it, I NEED it to feel attracted. But my Venus is squaring my Pluto natally, no surprise here. And I always - without exception- ONLY feel attracted to someone who has Pluto in regard of his core or relationship planets. So ususally it will be Sun-Pluto, Venus-Pluto, Mars-Pluto or ASC-Pluto. I can have a LOAD of nice synastric aspects that others lick their fingers after (you can`t relaly say that in English I guess, but I hope you know what I mean), but if there is no Pluto in play, I just don`t fall in love. Simple as that. Actually there is an example in the celebrity world. Jonathan Rhys - Myers. I once looked up his chart, cause I have been bored, and saw: His Sun (in my 8th house) in the opposing sign of my Moon His Sun trine my Mars and ASC his Moon (in my 1st house) conjunct my Sun his Venus (in my 7th house) opposite my Sun his Mars EXACT on my DESC and opposing my Mars I should probably develop an instand crush on him, but he really just doesnīt do anything for me. I couldn`t be less interested in anyone.
Consequently there is only limited Pluto synastry His Mars is trine my Pluto by 2 degrees, but that is just too little for me.
And his natal Pluto is, well, only weakly aspecting his Mars- probably just enough to make me notice that he exists, but that`s all. But I know for someone else, Pluto-aspect will send them running screamingly into the opposite direction!
I think our interpretation of a "good relationship" very much depends on what we are looking for on our own, but that can be different from others. To me a good relationship is one who has a good basis in compatibility, with excellent Mercury aspects (that is an absolute must for me, as Mercury rules my DESC - and therefore has maximum priority as "relationship-planet") - and it turns out that I have ONLY been really turned on by guys who have their Mercury in firesigns, either Aries or Sagittarius, the only exception is Mercury in Pisces, it seems like there ARE no other Mercury placements for me; in friendships Mercury is often in Aquarius or Libra, but never in Gemini, and sometimes in Aries and Sag, too-, but on top of that good compatibility I also crave for very intense attraction aspects, or I wouldnīt even get motivated to invest myself emotionally.
I also think if the compatibility-cushion is very good and stable, then people can deal with even VERY difficult aspects. Of course it depends how ou deal with tension natally. Someone with much Taurus or Libra or Cancer or just Moon and Venus energy might be seriously hurt by conflicts / tension, while my Aquarius-Moon and Sagittarius planets sometimes even welcome differences; the one good thing about these placements is that I can take a step backwards and stop taking everything so personally, at least most of the times. For someone with much Cancer for example that could be a difficult task. But this comparision of signplacements / dispositors could be a first step to get an understanding about the underlying "energetical exchange" between people.

Difficult relationships help us grow.Speaking of which, I should check past horrible relationships... ° Sun to Sun Aquarius vs Aquarius Uranus in Sag Uranus in Sag = 6 ° Moon to Moon Virgo vs Libra Mercury in Pisces Venus in Pisces = 3 ° IC to IC Pisces vs Virgo Neptune in Capricorn Mercury in Aquarius = 2 ° MC to MC Virgo vs Pisces Mercury in Pisces Neptune in Capricorn ...his IC dispositor is in the same sign as my MC, so I guess that's a 3? ° Venus to Venus Capricorn vs Pisces Saturn in Sag Neptune in Cap ...again, my Venus's dispositor is in the same sign as his Venus (they are actually conjunct) so.. 3? ° Mars to Mars Aries vs Sag Mars in Aries Jupiter in Aries = 4 ° ASC to ASC Scorpio vs Gemini Pluto in Scorpio Mercury in Aquarius = 0 ° DESC to DESC Taurus vs Sag Venus in Capricorn Jupiter in Aries = 0 ° Sun to Moon Aquarius vs Libra Uranus in Sag Venus in Pisces = 1 ° Moon to Sun Virgo vs Aquarius Mercury in Pisces Uranus in Sag = 0 ° IC to MC Pisces vs Pisces (these are actually conjunct) Neptune in Capricorn Neptune in Capricorn = 6 ° MC to IC Virgo vs Virgo Mercury in Pisces Mercury in Aquarius = 3 ° Venus to Mars Capricorn vs Sagittarius Saturn in Sag Jupiter in Aries = 4 ° Mars to Venus Aries vs Pisces Mars in Aries Neptune in Capricorn = 0 ° ASC to DESC Scorpio vs Sag Pluto in Scorpio Jupiter in Aries = 0 ° DESC to ASC Taurus vs Gemini Venus in Capricorn Mercury in Aquarius = 0 lol 35. That's pretty absurd because we just can NOT get along. Even when we were still on speaking terms we'd bicker constantly. We had a lot of attraction factors in our synastry such as Moon/Mars DW, ASC conjunct Vertex DW, and MC/IC DW. IP: Logged |

Amowls, that is why I think it is not enough to just have a look at these. There are houseplacements and natal aspects modifying all of this. For example I have Moon in detached Aquarius and Venus in reserved Capricorn. If you didnīt know that my Venus also squares Pluto, you might get a false or only partial image of me. Which makes me think that I have of a modification of this system, that integrates natal aspects, too. Ami, yes, that makes perfect sense. If a planet can make you attach, then it is Pluto. In his way he gives just as much glue as Saturn does, just he does it with more passion. IP: Logged |

i think looking at others replies, i am not sure i did it right.i never added pts if the depositor of one persons planet is in the same sign or element or opposite of the other personals Natal one. i thought it was only Depositor vs Depositor sign/placement. i shall re count under that, i won't do aspects between them as i am not sure waht a sextile/trine/square/conjunct/opp equals. DD? also, do you think in general it might be of any significance thats a persons Personal planet depositor, positively aspects the other persons personal planet? for example, the synastry im looking at, her moon depisoter Saturn, Trines my Sun. but my sun is 27 leo, and hers Saturn is 0 Capricorn (trine of 3) ? synastrically her Moon Quincunx's my moon. would you consider any further affinity if they are in linked houses? e.g. her moon depisotr saturn is in my 5th house (house ruled by sun). lets take a look now anyway.. Sun-Sun Leo Vs Aquarius Uranus Trine my Sun (how many pts if any?) its out of sign..) synastry its sun opposite sun as well as in opposite signs (2pts? we'll stick with depositor/depositor and depositor/personal planet).. 0 pts Moon-Moon Aries Vs Capricorn Mars Virgo - 1 pt vs Saturn Capricorn - 1 pt = 2 pts IC - IC Libra Vs Virgo Venus in Libra + her Depositor Mercury in Aquarius = 1 pt my IC in Libra vs her Mercury in Aquarius = 1 pt = 2pts MC - MC Aries vs Pisces Mars in Virgo (opposite her MC in aspect and sign?) = 2 pts her Depositor Neptune in capricorn = 1 pt, trine in aspect to my depositor? Venus - Venus Venus Libra vs Venus Aries 0 pts Mars - Mars Virgo vs Sagittarius 0 pts ASC - ASC Leo vs Cancer 0 pts DSc - DSC Aquarius vs Capricorn Uranus in Capricorn = 3 pts (conjunct her DSC ruler Saturn in its own sign more pts?..) Uranus & Saturn (depositors) in Capricorn = 3pts Moon- Sun Sun-Moon = 1 pt IC-MC MC-IC her IC in virgo same sign as my MC ruler? = 3? pts and in the same sign as my MC Ruler depisotor? = 3 pts? her IC Ruler Depositor Mercury In Aquarius, Uranus, in capricorn, same element as my MC ruler, and ruler depisotr = 2 pts? Mars-Venus Venus-Mars my Mars In Virgo vs Venus in Aries. depositor of mars in VIrgo, depositor of venus in Sagittarius. = 0 pts Venus in Libra vs Mars in Sagittarius Mars Depositor in Aries oppose my Venus in Libra = 2 pts.
****** DD****** if my personal planet Venus is in its own sign, and her Mars Depositor is in Aries, is it just 2 pts for her depositor oppoising my venus, or is it 4, because my venus doesnt have a 'depositor' and its in its own sign? ************************************** ASC-DSC DSC-ASC Leo Vs Capricorn sun in leo vs Depositor = 0 pts, but are in trine aspect to one another otu of sign by 3 orb. Cancer Vs Aquarius Moon in Capricorn (Saturn in capricorn) DSC ruler in Capricorn = 3 pts same sign as ASC Ruler = 3 more pts Depisotr of Uranus as DSC ruler in Capricorn = 3 pts for her ASC ruler, and another 3 for her ASC ruler's depisotr in same sign? 3 pts? not sure.. result: 27? Very High not sure if i did that right but oh well lol it is definitely more than 13 than i originally thought. so probably within average to high average atleast if not very high. perhaps we should really take this into consideration for hard aspects in synastry. i got that wrong last time! Letram,"i thought it was only Depositor vs Depositor sign/placement." No, dispositor to natal, also. "i won't do aspects between them as i am not sure waht a sextile/trine/square/conjunct/opp equals. " I didnīt do it either. Even though I think a tight aspect would intensify the connection. "also, do you think in general it might be of any significance thats a persons Personal planet depositor, positively aspects the other persons personal planet? " Yes, I start to definitely think that it is significant.
"for example, the synastry im looking at, her moon depisoter Saturn, Trines my Sun. but my sun is 27 leo, and hers Saturn is 0 Capricorn (trine of 3) ?" That might give *a little bit of * a Sun-Moon flavour I think. Een though in your case it is out of sign, maybe this would be a bit weaker?
"would you consider any further affinity if they are in linked houses? e.g. her moon depisotr saturn is in my 5th house (house ruled by sun)." The problem is that the deeper we get, the more details we look at, we might get confused and lose sight of the "main things". But, yes I think there is significance to this, too. But in a more subtle way. Example: if I gave for the actual Moon in your 5th house 3 points, I would maybe give for the dispositor in your 5th house 1,5-2 points, but not the same amount as the actual planet in your house.
"Leo Vs Aquarius Uranus Trine my Sun (how many pts if any?) its out of sign..)" So you have opposing signs of the actual planets that would make 2 points. Your sun dispositors seem to be in the same element - so 1 more point. In what sign are Uranus and Sun?
"Aquarius vs Capricorn Uranus in Capricorn = 3 pts (conjunct her DSC ruler Saturn in its own sign more pts?..)" I am confused now. I feel like there is an information lacking. but I am too tired to think it all through right now.
"her IC in virgo same sign as my MC ruler? = 3? pts and in the same sign as my MC Ruler depisotor? = 3 pts?" Yes, but you are mixing compatibility and attraction here, I think?
"the connection her IC Ruler Depositor Mercury In Aquarius, Uranus, in capricorn, same element as my MC ruler, and ruler depisotr = 2 pts? " Yes. "if my personal planet Venus is in its own sign, and her Mars Depositor is in Aries, is it just 2 pts for her depositor oppoising my venus, or is it 4, because my venus doesnt have a 'depositor' and its in its own sign?" 4. You could consider Libra as the actual signplacement of your Venus AND it is also the sign of the dispositor of Venus (it means that planets in their own sign always are counted twice - they are pretty strong)
"perhaps we should really take this into consideration for hard aspects in synastry. " That is, where I think it has the most merits, to analyze the aspects further. Also, these overtones / dispositors may show an underlying theme. Usually there is a good mix, but sometimes an element will be emphasized in the overtones. I am aa rather extreme example of this. My main element is fire: Sun, Mercury, Mars, ASC in Sagittarius with a bit of Air, Moon in Aquarius and even a little earth through Venus in Cap. NO single personal planet is in water though. If you check my dispositors though, the image gets modified: Sun-dispositor in Pisces Moon-disp in Scorpio / Cancer Mercury-disp in Pisces Venus-disp in Cancer Mars-disp in Pisces ASC-disp in Pisces ALL dispositors of personal planets are in watersigns. this element HAS to be strong, at least in a subtle way, and it is.
