What you are talking about is shyness, which is not the same as being introverted, although it may manifest similarly, when analyzed from the outside. I have always been an introvert, for as long as I can remember. it has to do with how you process information and how you define yourself. Introverts have to take everything down to their level, break information and use it to build an inner map of the world. So they actually seem to take longer to process info than extrovets, who are more in the moment and in the world. That's why introverts find relating to be tiresome, because it does not come natural for them to interact with their immediate environment. And let me say this, that not all introverts are shy, and not all shy people are introverts. Introverts usually refrain from interaction with others to simply save energy, or because they have no interest in relating. Speaking for myself, I can go on for months with minimal interaction. I can just spent all my time alone, reading, listening to music, working, studying etc. I get the urge to go out and socialize about once every 3 to 5 months, depending on my mood..even with people I like, it's tiresome. I am not really shy, because I am not afraid of being judged by others or anything like that. If I choose not to make my presence known in a social situation, it's because I really don't care about the people around me enough to contribute with my opinions.
Can't say any more to that, it's very true. I'm very extraverted. Sometimes just too much for most others to handle. It was even a topic of conversation between my ex and myself yesterday, that I am just too open and have a compulsive NEED to reach out to people, in any way possible. Especially when I was a child, but this is where I have to agree with Ami too. From the age of 5 until the age of 16 I became very withdrawn. The reasons for that are known to me but I won't go into detail, all I can say it that it does have to do with the type of upbringing I had and my hypersensitivity which flavoured my response to withdraw for quite some time. During that time, I scored Introverted rather than Extraverted almost all of the time, while it really had nothing to do with my essential personality but rather the influence of my upbringing. But rather than introverted, I was of course very shy (which I still am, to an extent, because as you say I do care about what others think of me and I don't want to disappoint) and the influence of my upbringing just amplified that shyness to the extent that I simply had to withdraw to pretty much save my soul, so to speak. Sounds a bit fatalistic but I don't know how else to describe it. When I was 16 I simply got over it. I believe that was the time Pluto was transiting my Uranus if I'm not mistaken and there were some "sudden" changes to my appearance (1st house) and they were certainly Uranus-influenced but I digress. We come to the point now where, at least in my experience, it is apparent that most of these online Meyers-Briggs tests can't really recognise the difference between Introverted and just shy. Someone who is shy is equally going to say they'd rather stay in but not because they don't feel the desire to go out, like an introverted person would, but rather because it terrifies them to be around people and accidentally say the wrong thing for example, prompting them to avoid facing that fear by staying home. People by nature avoid facing something that terrifies them, don't they? But there is no doubt that shy and introverted are two completely different things. ------------------ [Insert catchy signature here.] IP: Logged |

Another 'NF' here!! I normally score pretty close to borderline everything!! Usually INFP or INFJ Jung Test Results Extroverted (E) 60% Introverted (I) 40% Intuitive (N) 56.1% Sensing (S) 43.9% Feeling (F) 56.41% Thinking (T) 43.59% Perceiving (P) 52.94% Judging (J) 47.06%
Your type is: ENFP ENFP - "Journalist". Uncanny sense of the motivations of others. Life is an exciting drama. 8.1% of total population. I would consider myself to have good days (extroverted) and bad days (really introverted). I just asked my roommate(ex BF of 7 yrs so he knows me well!) and he said that it depends on the day and am more comfortable being around people but couldnt tell whether I was intro or extro (cos I like alone time too). ASC - Aquarius Sun - Taurus Moon - Libra According to Pullen Apparently I am strongest in: 1. Scorpio 2. Sagittarius 3. Capricorn I only have Uranus in Saggi.. also Jupiter and Neptune are the only planets in Capricorn! Not sure how they calculate this Strongest planets according to Pullen: 1. Venus 2. Mars 3. Pluto IP: Logged |

Fun test ENTP - "Inventor". Enthusiastic interest in everything and always sensitive to possibilities. Non-conformist and innovative. No idea how to match this with my chart. Aquarius Midheaven, ascendant gemini perhaps... Now I'll try to temper this "Enthusiastic interest in everything" and hopefully get to my chores IP: Logged |

I know there are too many factors to consider, but why not try and see what comes out of it? I'm basically an INFP, but lately test INTP.
Sun Mercury Mars - Scorpio Moon - Virgo and 6th house stellium Venus Jupiter - Libra ASC Gemini IC Cancer Scorpio, Virgo and Aquarius are my 3 most prominent signs according to the pullen chart. Most prominent planets are Mercury, Saturn and Pluto. I really don't know whether I'm more INFP or INTP. I can't decide whether I use my Feeling function or my Thinking function.. I often consider myself INxP. What about you guys?
For those who don't know their type, you can find some tests here: http://similarminds.com/personality_tests.html under the Jung Tests on the right
or this one, which is a bit different though: http://www.teamtechnology.co.uk/mmdi/questionnaire/
I don't think I'm familiar with these initials. What are they? Sun - Aquarius Moon - Cancer Mercury - Capricorn Venus - Capricorn Jupiter - Leo Mars - Gemini Saturn - Gemini Uranus - Gemini Pluto - Leo POF - Leo ASC - Aries IP: Logged |

Never mind, others obviously are ;-)I found out my type some time ago and it actually got me a job. Some human resources managers in big companies work with this test. I'm ENFP - Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving, or "The inspirer". Strong emphasis on Aquarius with Sun and a Mercury-Venus Conjunction, all in 10.; Cancer Moon in 3.; Taurus Ascendant. Colourful mix :-) IP: Logged |
