Adding my 2 cents because of recent personal experiences with Nessus & Dejanira - hope no one objects:There are 2 versions of the Nessus/Dejanira story - in one Deja is the victim and Nessus the rapist. In the other, Deja is aware of her husbands several sundry indiscretions and wants to make him jealous. When they meet up w/ Nessus, she sees a golden opportunity to "kill with a borrowed knife" (as the Chinese say.) Whispering in Nessus ear, she inflames that famed centaur intemperance, and puts up quite the show of protesting. In this version, Dejanira represents the manipulative side of playing with forces she knew better than, but chose to anyway. It was Nessus who paid the price of her passive\aggressive jealousies, and the rest of the story was him extracting his vengeance. [It's also noteworthy that the real winner in this myth is Heracles, who receives his birthright recognition at long last among the Olympians as the result of Nessus' curse and Dejanira's jealousies.] The square and opposition lay out you described is an intense one - the fun side will be the most delightful of intimacies, and the passions may very well be the most satisfying and addicting you have ever known. But enter these most cautiously, because Nessus' real power is felt when you try to pull away. Breakups that involve Nessus/Dejanira contacts can be harder than digging your own heart out with a dull blade - and emotionally you will feel like that is exactly what is happening. The attraction may not seem darksome and dire, but in the end you may wish you had drunk Drain-O instead, so great will be the pain. I assure you, I speak from the most direct and personal of experience. When I let my Nessus lover go (or she put me away, however you view it,) it was a choice of pulling apart, or ripping everything else in our worlds apart trying to stay together. In fact, the astrologer who helped me figure all this out was caught in the updraft, and I lost her as well in the process of freeing myself... and many nights I seriously wonder if I have been truly set free even yet. Then you toss in things like Saturn and Lilith? Wow. That's not just playing with fire, that's dancing in a blast-furnace. Be warned, and take greatest of cautions in your direction. Be certain of every step you take, and heed all warning signs. IP: Logged |

I was thinking about some things to add to the discussion. *I* have not done this before in MY reading of the charts. I have not looked at the natal ,first, and then looked at the synastry. So, I think it would be interesting to add what Nessus and Deja do in our natal charts, first. Then, we can talk about how they play out in synastry.------------------ Life is lived in the sand box. I have a VERY fortunate placement of Deja. IQ told me this when he did my chart. It is conjunct Pluto. I have a part of me that will fight back SO badly if I am bullied. It is this placement. My Nessus is squared Pluto. All I can think about this is that Pluto and Nessus fight each other and *I* must integrate them ,somehow. Squares call for putting together things that do not want to go ,together,I think. You have to integrate them so both sides of the square work and have balance. Am I right in this ? With the opposition, you can be on either end of the pole. With the square ,you must resolve the issue in such a way that they blend. ------------------ Life is lived in the sand box. Jake *I* see the Nessus relationship in synastry in a different way than you do. *I*, truly, see it as an opportunity to heal one's own Nessus/Deja. If one did not have the original problem, one would not have been" attracted" to it from the outside. I don't see it as an issue of avoiding the Nessus relationship . I don't think we can control to whom we are attracted. I think we need to go forward, with our heart. When/if our heart breaks, we will learn lessons which only come through pain,as most lessons seem to lol Bottom line, we are struggling with our own ego, most of the time. We SEE it as coming from the outside, though ------------------ Life is lived in the sand box. He who controls his Spirit is greater than he who controls a city Proverbs IP: Logged |

Oh, I agree with all that. You make anti-venom by courting the snake and milking the venom in the first place. Nessus doesn't just represent the poisons in our life, it represents the place of healing them as well. I read it very similar to Chiron.

Dear Jake Could you ,please, help me with what a planet/asteroid conjunct the NN means? I can't grasp it in a simple, real world way. My friend has Neptune conjunct the NN? What would that mean--in real life? *I* have NN conjunct the GC.Who knows what THAT means ------------------ Life is lived in the sand box.
