Hola ladies & gentleman,I found an old article about Vertex from this website so i am gonna quote it here so you can discuss. THX to who posted it before. The Vertex is a theoretical point discovered by american astrologer Edward Johndro, even if it was made known my Charles Jayne, a respected american author. The ideogram symbolizes a full vase and points to our intrinsic potential that can be fully expressed - particularly if we are relating to another. This is why its analysis is important in synastry, in that it helps us understand the things we want to reach and the goals that have to do with our partner. The house in which the vertex falls in the natal chart indicates the area of life where we can best express these potentials. But whatever experience it has for us, it always has to do with “another” in order to be brought to conclusion. We must attribute the same characteristics as the 7th house, libra, venus. From a karmic point of view the vertex points to karmic reunions and can show, based on the placement of the surrounding planets, what kind of relationship we had in a past life. Generally speaking the most important aspects are the conjunction and with very tight orbs with a maximum tolerance of 3°. Conjunctions give us an idea of the type of person we are destined to meet (determined by the planet in conjunction) to best realize our relationship potential: for example if the planet is conjuncted by mercury chances are it will be a younger extremely dynamic partner to change our sentimental life, whereas if saturn is the planet involved it could be a companion who will rationalize and stabilize (offering security) the relationship through a concrete shift. But going back to the base argument Lassalle says: “the vertex reveals an orientation towards the other, a place in the chart where the success of something depends on the misactions, desires and projects of others. The vertex is reactive rather than active and should be considered a response more than an initiative. It’s the effect not the cause. Vertex shows the reaction of others towards us, to our actions, to our leaning towards them or to our creations” This allows us to understand the way in which we react to rejections, being left, to the relationship, to Us. And it is exactly in the comparison of the charts that the vertex reveals its function and usefulness. In its relationship with the planets of the partner it points to the way in which we relate the partner and above all what we most need in our partners company. It’s our greatest request for help from our partner to bring out something that we hold inside ourselves. Before getting to the analysis of the vertex it’s good to give a quick interpretation in terms of its position in the natal chart. In fact, among other things, this also tells us the type of “destined relationship” we need to live to be able to evolve to the next level emotionally and spiritually through distancing ourselves from links and conditioning that come from previous lives. Generally speaking the activation of the vertex happens with transits in conjunction with, and secondarily the square and opposition of Saturn, Chiron and Uranus. Saturn transits point to the possibility of having to sacrifice something that we consider important in our life because it turns out to be the greatest obstacle to finding (or refinding) our twin soul. The meeting presented in this transit at the beginning seems difficult. It makes us nervous, misunderstood, we have the feeling to have made a huge mistake but then with time we understand that these feelings are no more than defenses and that our sentimental life can now truly go forward towards long lasting solidity and resolution of deep conflicts that go back to past lives. Chiron in aspect to the vertex brings into our lives someone or something that teaches us to positively see and learn from prior experiences to avoid the same mistakes, to see old wounds that we probably bring forward from many lives. Lastly Uranus transits bring waves of chance and help pull out, usually in an excessive manner, the relationship potential of the vertex allowing us to give a new focus to our sentimental lives, thanks in part to a meeting of a partner who’s uninhibited (according to our standard relationship definitions), capable of going past old forms and habits that have accumulated over several lives making an emotional, mental and relational rebirth. Vertex in the 5th house: Generally in this position the individual lives a full emotional life and tends to give a lot of space to passion. It might be that all of a sudden in this person’s life a partner can completely change your existence pushing you towards extremes. The person with this position of the vertex doesn’t resist even one hour of love and doesn’t shy away from the possible emotional risks that come along. A more calm and balanced approach, and even the possibility to find the twin soul can come through a saturn vertex conjunction transit. Vertex in the 6th house: With this placement the person lives their emotions in a fairly unfree manner and is linked to a series of obstacles that prevent them from fully living a relationship. It’s possible that there is a choice of love that is not free or that requires dedication, care, service or responsibility that can take magic out of the relationship. Some relationships may come from the workplace but they will have difficulty living freely outside of that sector of life. Chiron transits are the ones that change the path of these people, so that they can help develop their self worth and, most of all, look for relationships in which they can look for a daily space where they balance their heart learning, thanks to the partner, to bring greater lightness to their life. (I personally have vertex in 7th house.) Vertex in the 7th house: This person tends to have troubles living life without romantic relationships, they can’t stand emotional solitude for long periods and will do anything to be around people, even tollerating relationships that don’t meet their needs. Usually, however, they are able to find their twin soul and to realize many of their ideals of what shared life means. Time is this persons true ally and more importantly Saturn transits. They help these people find true, concrete answers and emotional serenity. The attainment of emotional happiness though comes through a series of rather difficult challenges, including unwanted solitude. The sacrifice is, however, paid in kind in the end. Vertex in the 8th house: In many cases the sentimental life of these people seems rather temultuous and torturous without any routine or domestic warmth. These people have a rather idiosynchratic approach to these joys because their ideal relationship is definitely unusual and non alligned with what is traditionally considered necessary and satisfying for a couple. These people are attracted by “different” partners something unusual, intriguing that would allow a relationship full of surprises and drama. It is the transit of Chiron to act as a stimulator. To bring into the lives of these people the partner able to satisfy their intelligence and curiosity. IP: Logged |

I think it is not a common situation to have vertex in 4th.. In equal house system it must fall in 5th house i guess(Also be careful if vertex is close to 5th house cusp, it is considered as in 5th house.) So you can read 5th interpretation. IP: Logged |

Let me dig through my files. It's been awhile. I was one of the first to construct delineations for the Vertices. I'd love to find those. Did quite a lot of work and got very detailed.I don't agree with the 'if it's close to the cusp it should be read as in that house' rule. It seems misleading to me; a 4H VX is very different from the 5H VX, as you can imagine. Your karmic baggage and reactive gifts come from home and family of origin -- not creativity and kids. If it were meant to be in your 5H -- guess what? -- it would be! Also, there are several of us with no conjunctions or aspects of any kind natally to our VX. I explained that at one point, too. Along with the AVX delineations. Rats. Need to find my files.

quote: The house positions of the vertex/anti-vertex can offer clues as to where we may experience turning points, meetings with destiny or fateful encounters in life. As noted earlier, the vertex falls usually between the fifth and the eight house, on the western side of the chart, with the anti-vertex 180 degrees opposition. In the fifth/eleventh house axis, there could be a propensity to experience fateful romantic or creative encounters (fifth house) through contacts with friends or groups (eleventh house). In the sixth/twelfth house axis, the turning point, or spin out, could effect our day by day living, or our link between psyche and soma (sixth house) through contact with those in the helping professions, those less fortunate or through dreams and creative fantasies (twelfth house). In the seventh/first house axis, sudden epiphanies could radically effect socially significant partnerships (seventh house) through an experience of projecting ourselves out into the world (first house). In the eighth/second house axis, destiny may arrive in the form of an erotic encounter or intense research (eighth house) perpetrated by a desire for pleasure, security or peace (second house). The vertex/anti-vertex by sign can signify the way we may experience activation to this axis. Aries/Libra could indicate issues between personal will and sharing, where Taurus/Scorpio may be about security verses risk. Gemini/Sagittarius could contrast knowledge and vision, where Cancer/Capricorn could emphasize protection verses enterprise. The Leo/Aquarius axis might highlight self-expression as opposed to group participation where the Virgo/Pisces might compare structured boundaries and limitless longing.

http://www.falconastrology.com/vertex.htm [/B][/QUOTE]I concur. I've always liked where Kim went with it. Similar delineation style and feel. She's a great resource. Some of it might even be from the work we did over a decade ago! It looks familiar. I'll expound upon the AVX soon if I can find those docs. Thanks for linking this. -A.

So far this is true for me. But I do wonder if this can cause marriage to be delayed. IP: Logged |

I know three people that have vertex in the 4th and one conjuncts exact his IC and the other had it right in the middle of her 4th. Only one was closer to the end of her 4th house. I have it in my 9th parallel my 9H cusp.

depending on the used housesystem and if someone is born pretty north or South, 4th and 9th house could happens I suppose. Never seen that using Placidus though (but I am usually doing horoscope for europe, so not that far up north nor south here) IP: Logged |

I use placidus but agree is rare but the odds of three people I was very close to in my life having vertex in the 4H when that is rare to start with intrigues me. Perhaps I am drawn to them bc my Moon conjuncts my IC.IP: Logged | |
