Ok, well first this is what I think of semisextiles - There is a potential for the 2 planets involved to achieve an intimate and harmonious connection, but it does not happen automatically like in the trine, opportunities are not handed on a plate to you either like in a sextile to make it possible. Instead, all you have to work with is a sense of curiousity which creates an invitation in your mind (or minds if in synastry) to integrate the energies. The problem with this aspect is centred around your capacity (or lack thereof) to maintain your focus on what you are doing . No matter how curious you are to see what positive potential there is in the aspect, this bud won’t bloom into anything without you being able to sustain your awareness of it. You need to give it the appropriate attention and have a willingness to put effort into integrating the contrasting modalities of the neighboring signs so that each functions effectively. This can be hard work as these are latent energies which require preparation. Like ... you are sitting on the shore and want to go sailing, but you have to take the boat off the trailer and rig it up first and that seems like too much hard work so maybe you can’t be bothered and you don’t feel like it .... but if you do it anyway you feel fantastic once you are on the water and wonder why you were so reluctant? Making that first move is hard with the semisextile, almost like a chore, but once you get going it is wonderful and increases your awareness and appreciation of life’s complexities and subtleties. As one website puts it “. A semi-sextile is somewhat comparable to the pearl within an oyster. The oyster itself is illusive and then once you have it you still have to dig to get the benefit.” .. . but as long as you maintain your focus and do the groundwork you will find that you are actually rather good at bringing the energies together. So ... Mercury semi-sextile Jupiter ... would mean that you have an interest and a curiousity in philosophy/religion/spirituality, but it seems like a mammoth task to organise yourself to get started on tackling whatever it is about this that interests you. You need to stop waiting around for everything to magically fall into your lap and just make a start .... and even if you don't seem to be getting anywhere in the beginning, keep your focus, don't drop the ball. The result - you will find with time you are rather good at it ... your confidence in your mental abilities will increase and you will become skillful and influencing people with your wealth of knowledge and educated point of view.
