My Vertex is in Scorpio in the 6th house... is that why I feel so desperately miserable but obligated in my last relationship (he had a Scorpio moon, but I don't think any aspects where made to it)?

Anongrl10 and Linda Jones,

Finally getting back to your questions…. Hope you guys have re-checked this thread…

About Vertex/Node aspects….. I guess the first thing I’d like to mention about these is that there’s an author I occasionally like to read who has there Nodal Axis conjunct my Vertex Axis…. And one of the things I’ve noticed about her writings is that there’s just something about the way she portrays the characters, and sets up the plot that appeals to me…. Like I ‘get’ those characters, and they seem exciting and interesting to me. I also enjoy the clever way she can spin a plot…. Not that I liked every single book that she wrote, the are a few that I wasn’t really into….. But in general her style works for me…

I would imagine that in a personal relationship that a Vertex/Nodes would work in a similar way….

The Plot of the Node person’s life stands out as being particularly fascinating to the Vertex person.

The Nodes represent our overall path in life…. Where we are coming from…. And where we must go to move forward….and Vertex represents what stands out as being important for us, and leads us toward our ‘fate’ (or at least our perception of what our fate should be). The Vertex resonates with our cherished inner ideals, aspirations, and dreams that we have….

The Vertex person would experience the Node person as having a life path that leads them towards the fulfillment or some fantasy or another…. The Node person’s very mode of operation… and what they need to move forward… allows the Vertex person to get in touch with what they wished for…. Or lets them to play some role that they’ve always wanted to play…. Or helps them to reach an important aspiration of some type… It’s as if the Node person’s habit pattern’s, and life journey, provide an opportunity for the Vertex person to step in through the gates of destiny to reach some hallmark, or significant turning point in life…

On the other hand… the Nodes person senses that the Vertex persons ‘gets’ where they are coming from, and also understands quite well what they need to move forward…sometimes the Vertex person may attempt to rescue the Node person as they instinctively understand the imbalance inherent in their nature that needs to be addressed… Sometimes this assistance and understanding is much appreciated…. Other times (depending on synastry), the Nodes person may feel like yelling “Stop being so obsessed with my life, and quit butting into my personal affairs. It’s MY business!”

At the Very least I’d say that the Vertex person finds the Node person’s life story very interesting, and ’gets’ the Node individual’s personal philosophy and habit patterns…. While the Nodes person feels understood by the Vertex person, and is often able to inadvertently help the Vertex fulfill some personal desire….

As for who feels it more….. The Vertex consistently seems to indicate an enthrallment with whatever (the aspecting planet) or whoever (the person by synasry) aspects it…. This because of the Vertex’s connection with wish fulfillment, and meaningful events… people who aspect the Vertex generally feature significantly in our minds, and strongly influence our perceptions….. This is not always romantic in nature, though… but when it is, the Vertex is often very infatuated with the Planet/Node/Point person…. (but keep in mind that infatuation isn’t the same thing as loving attachment)…

And the Planet/Node/Point person feels that the Vertex person finds them immensely interesting, and often feels greatly appreciated by the Vertex person…. Having someone’s Vertex aspecting your Planet/Node/Points can be very reassuring or flattering in a sense…. Because here is someone who sees value and significance in what you have to offer….

So yeah, when it comes to infatuation (be not necessarily a loving bond)….the Vertex usually feels it more…

Actually I’m starting to think that INFACTUATION aught to be another key word/phrase for the Vertex….along with DESTANY’S GATE, SYNCRONISITY, and TURNING POINT…

The Vertex does have a lot to do with what we’re infatuated with…. Be it a person, a topic, a thing, or an event….

“Also, what would be the effect of his Pluto in Leo semisquaring my Vertex in Libra (orb of 2)... how would this affect me and how would it affect him?”

Hmmm…. Well Pluto represents the dark side of our nature, issues connected with intimacy, our fatalism, and the probing of secret information… semisquares tend to indicate details and little matters…. So here it’s as if Pluto has something of sharp influence on the Vertex… there are certain minor facts about the way the Pluto person handles plutonian topics, such as intimacy, or issues concerning power and influence…that strikes the Vertex person as intriguing, and seems to propel the Vertex person into new avenues of thought and action that feels significant for them… and the Pluto person, perspective as they are, is probably quite aware of the Vertex person’s interest in their dark, secretive side… and may even feel inclined to reveal more of themselves to the Vertex person, as the Vertex person seems to naturally understand where Pluto is coming from in the area of plutonic things…

HIS PLANETS/ANGLES TO MY VERTEX AT 13 Libra (6th house):

MAJOR ASPECTS rbs in ()
His Chiron trine my Vertex (orb of 2)
His Mars sextile my Vertex (2.0)
His Venus sextile my Vertex (4.0)
His Saturn sextile my Vertex (5.0--too wide?)
His Eros sextile my Vertex (1.0)

MINOR ASPECTS:
His Asc.quincunx my Vertex (2.0)
His moon quincunx my Vertex (4.0)
His Pluto semisquare my Vertex (EXACT)
His Desc. semisextile my Vertex (2.0)
His NN decile my Vertex (2.0)
His IC tridecile my Vertex (3.0)

MY PLANETS/ANGLES TO HIS VERTEX AT 23 Virgo (7th house):

MAJOR ASPECTS rbs in ()
My Venus trine his Vertex (1.0)
My IC sextile his Vertex (1.0)
My MC trine his Vertex (1.0)
My NN conjunct his Vertex (1.0)
My Saturn trine his Vertex (6.0--too wide?)
My Mars parallel his Vertex (EXACT)
My NN parallel his Vertex (42 mins. apart)

MINOR ASPECTS:
My Asc. biquintile his Vertex (3.0)
My Desc. decile his Vertex (3.0)
My Mars sesiquiqadrate his Vertex (1.0)
My Uranus decile his Vertex (EXACT)
My Neptune semisquare his Vertex (1.0)
My Pluto vigintile his Vertex (2.0)

Composite Vertex conjunct Descendant

Linda Jones….

As for that long list, it’s far too much for me to go into each individual aspect… but I will say that I do use all major aspects in relation to the Vertex…and most minor ones… like semisquares, semisextiles (although this one is not particularly strong), quincunxes (I don’t really think this one is minor at all!) and quintiles… however I’m not too sure about parallels, or the descile aspects as I haven’t looked into these…

I tend to use orbs of about 3 or 4 or 5 degrees for the Vertex, depending on what type of aspect it is. The closer it the stronger the connection, the farther apart the weaker it is. Most major aspects I’ll stretch till about five degrees… minor ones I’d limit to 3...

From what I have seen form surveying the above listed synastry that this is a strong connection with mutual Vertex aspects between you…so the feeling that this is a meaningful relationship, that has important bearing on both of your lives is strong… as well as the feeling of unspoken understanding and ‘getting’ each other…

Below is an ‘edited’ version of the list of aspects you gave me…I left on the list only the aspects that I felt were most significant….

HIS PLANETS/ANGLES TO MY VERTEX AT 13 Libra (6th house):

MAJOR ASPECTS rbs in ()
His Chiron trine my Vertex (orb of 2)
His Mars sextile my Vertex (2.0)
His Eros sextile my Vertex (1.0)

MINOR ASPECTS:
His Asc.quincunx my Vertex (2.0)
His Pluto semisquare my Vertex (EXACT)

MY PLANETS/ANGLES TO HIS VERTEX AT 23 Virgo (7th house):

MAJOR ASPECTS rbs in ()
My Venus trine his Vertex (1.0)
My IC sextile his Vertex (1.0)
My MC trine his Vertex (1.0)
My NN conjunct his Vertex (1.0)

MINOR ASPECTS:
My Asc. biquintile his Vertex (3.0)
My Mars sesiquiqadrate his Vertex (1.0)
My Neptune semisquare his Vertex (1.0)

I hope this was helpful…

And about my own Vertex… in my case the Vertex falls at 15 degrees of Taurus, directly opposing Uranus at 15 Scorpio…. Which is the ruler of my Aquarius 3rd house cusp…..and I have noticed that I do tend to have a lot of ‘Vertex‘ type experiences in relation to finding the information that I need, in getting the right messages, and in solving mysteries that that I happen to be intensely curious about…. There definitely appears to be a synchronicity there…. And I have noticed this especially when studying astrology (Uranus is said to rule astrology)….

Another interesting side point I’d like to make about the Vertex and important happenings…. I have Jupiter in the 7th house, and Jupiter is also my Asc ruler… and I’ve noticed that transits of my Jupiter to my Vertex seem to coincide with my most influential romantic connections, and least in terms of the impact they had on myself and my outlook…

In the 90’s when I was in high school I met my first truly intense crush when transiting Jupiter opposed my Vertex in Scorpio…. And I’d say this was my first brush with real adult feelings, as opposed to ‘puppy love’. Also my first heartache…

Years later transiting Jupiter in Leo squared my Vertex. I met my second most influential man, in terms of the imprint the made on me. We were very ill matched, and not right for each other… but somehow his personality stuck in my mind… and very clearly defined what I want and do not want in terms of love and marriage….

I guess that fits with the symbolism of the square also…

Later this year transiting Jupiter will by conjoining my Vertex in Taurus…. I’ve got my fingers crossed that this transit will bring a much happier romance into my life! After all a conjunction is a direct hit and much happier in general then a square….( Although I feel that an opposition can be either good or bad depending on many other factors) .

Also interesting…. Guy I met during Jupiter in Scorpio transit also had Venus at 12 degrees of Scorpio…opposite my Vertex…..and Guy I met during Jupiter in Leo transit had Mercury at 12 degrees of Taurus… conjunct my Vertex…

Thanks for the response.
From the description it doesn't sound like a mutual fascination is in place. We're talking about it as a synastry aspect so it's about chemistry. I haven't noticed me being infatuated with him. In fact, this is a bit weird: my vertex is in the sign where my SN is although 10 degrees away. So, although I understand where he's going, I've already been there. No fascination at all. In fact, it is probably activating my Virgoness (my Vertex is at about 8 Virgo 7 house).
Probably more interesting is that his NN-SN axis falls on my Vertex-antiVertex axis. Plus he has a Venus-Pluto opposition along his Nodal axis. So...........

Anongrl10,

Yeah, like any other point in astrology how it’s aspected between two people will effect how it plays out in a relationship. I’ve noticed that infatuation is common with Vertex connections….. But that doesn’t mean that every Vertex aspect manifests as such…. Just like Pluto is not ALWAYS obsession….

But Vertex aspects are very ‘defining’….we learn from these people, and remember what we got out of the relationship….whether it’s about what we want or don’t want for our own futures…

“my vertex is in the sign where my SN is although 10 degrees away. So, although I understand where he's going, I've already been there. No fascination at all.”

I tend not to separate the Vertex form the AntiVertex much in my mind. They are part of the same continuum…. I don’t think of something aspecting the Vertex alone…. But rather as something aspecting the Vertex Axis (although some say that the Vertex is more like an Asc, and that the Antivertex is more like a Dsc). So his Nodal Axis is related to your Vertex Axis….. Which includes where he has been…. AND where he’s going….. Both impact your Vertex Axis… And since your Vertex is in the same sign as your own SN…. Your Vertex Axis is also related to where you have been (SN)….. AND where you’re going (NN)… even if only by sign.

His life path and habits would impact you as a way of demonstrating some part of what you do or don’t want for your own self…. People aspecting our Vertex Axis become like examples to for us…. Positively or negatively…

If both your South Node and Vertex are in Virgo… perhaps conjunctions to the Vertex side of your Vertex Axis teach you about the need to get away from old negative patterns…. While conjunctions to the Pisces side of your Vertex Axis, the Antivertex, seem to help move you forward on your path more constructively… as the Antivertex is in the same sign as your North Node… aka growth…

Thanks, yes, that's why I wrote "his NN-SN axis falls on my Vertex-antiVertex axis."

I still think that for him -because his NN conjunct my Vertex- the 'pull' will be bigger. It's where he needs to move toward.

Plus -as I wrote in my previous- he has a Venus-Pluto opposition along his Nodal axis.
His Venus is conjunct my Antivertex and same sign as my NN. To top it off, my Pluto is conjunct my SN and same sign with my Vertex conj his NN.

So, you understand why I don't think "fascination on behalf of the Vertex person" covers it in this case. I think it's a mutual pull for different reasons.

Yeah, Vertex aspects aren’t the only synastry aspects that can produce a ‘pull’ however…. they is just one very potent factor that can….

Just like with physical attraction…. It can come from quite a few different synastry aspects…. like Venus conjunct the Asc, or Mars trine Moon…. Both produce a ‘pull’, only the quality of it is different…

“I still think that for him -because his NN conjunct my Vertex- the 'pull' will be bigger. It's where he needs to move toward.”

And his South Node is conjunct your Antivertex… where he has already been…

I don’t believe that conjunctions to the Vertex or more powerful then to the Antivertex… both are equally compelling…

There must be some other part of the synastry that explains it if you think that he is more into you, then you are into him…

Dear Linda Jones,

Thank you for taking the time to explain everything. Your summary--

"From what I have seen form surveying the above listed synastry that this is a strong connection with mutual Vertex aspects between youso the feeling that this is a meaningful relationship, that has important bearing on both of your lives is strong as well as the feeling of unspoken understanding and getting each other"--

This pretty much sums it up in my case. Your shortening the list to the imp. aspects and explanation of the orbs you use is also very helpful.

You mentioned that your own Vertex is at 15 Taurus. Well, guess what?!! My moon at 14 Taurus 57' (3 minutes from being 15 Taurus!) is conjunct your Vertex. I know this is only an internet connection... but, if we knew each other in real life, how would this conjunction affect us. And what if it went both ways, i.e., your moon was also conjunct my Vertex, what then? YTA had also wanted to know what effect this would have in a non-romantic case.

Thanks as always, for the time you take to consider questions.

That is not what I meant. I was specifically referring to mutuality of "fascination" when it comes to the Nodal and Vertex axes. You specifically said that the fascination goes from for the Vertex person to the Node person. I disagree with that statement for the reasons I explained in my previous.

quote:

Just like with physical attraction…. It can come from quite a few different synastry aspects…. like Venus conjunct the Asc, or Mars trine Moon…. Both produce a ‘pull’, only the quality of it is different…

I feel like you did not read my previous. I was talking about his Nodal axis, my Pluto+ Anti/Vertex Axis, and his natal Venus-Pluto opposition along his Nodal axis. I never said anything about "attraction" or touched upon any of the rest of synastry.

quote:

“I still think that for him -because his NN conjunct my Vertex- the 'pull' will be bigger. It's where he needs to move toward.”

And his South Node is conjunct your Antivertex… where he has already been…

So what?
You stated that the Vertex person (me) feels fascinated by the Node person. So, I was explaining how the Vertex person (me) got nothing to call home about. He on the other hand brings to the table BOTH his Nodal axis AND his natal opp in tight conj to the nodal axis. I think he has more to invest in it than I do.

quote:

Actually I was not talking about the rest of the synastry neither did I say that "he's more into me that I am into me". (For the record, I am not at all into him. LOL There's no "fascination" from my part, as I mentioned in my previous.) I think you simply failed to see my point. Not all cases fall neatly into the descriptions of the cookbooks and making them fit into a box just won't help. Oh well.

This is for anongrl, but also contains some general points I’d like to make…

Anongrl, I too feel as if my posts have been misunderstood by you. Yes, I read all that stuff about his Pluto and Venus on his nodes in relation to your Pluto and Vertex…. And I was well aware of it….But that’s not the part of your post I most wanted to respond to….

There was one single statement that I wanted to address most and it was this one…

“I still think that for him -because his NN conjunct my Vertex- the 'pull' will be bigger. It's where he needs to move toward. ”

This statement made it seem as if you felt that his North Node conjunct your Vertex, was somehow more important than his South Node conjunct your Antivertex…. As if the conjunction to where he was going (the Vertex) was more important then the conjunction to where he was form (the Antivertex)…Which I disagreed with because I have noticed that both sides of the Vertex Axis are equally powerful….this synastry actually shows that you are connected with where he needs to move forward AND where he has already been…

Now your major gripe seems to be that you disagree that only Vertex person is fascinated with the planet/Node person…

Rather, It seems you believe that the fascination is mutual not matter who is the Vertex person, and who is the Node or planet person (in this case the person with the Venus/Pluto/Node configuration in their chart)…. Like you believe that both will feel it regardless of who is the Vertex… Or even that, you feel, only the planet/Node person will feel it while the Vertex sometimes does not….

You feel that he has more to invest in the relationship because he has his Nodes plus Venus and Pluto aspecting your Vertex Axis and Pluto… you figure him having more planets/points aspecting your Vertex equals more to invest?

I guess we must agree to disagree on this point… at least in terms of the majority of cases when it comes to the Vertex…

The Vertex seems to be a rather passive point…. It responds to things, and takes in energy…. But it doesn’t GIVE off much…. The non-Vertex person in synastry may barely even feel the other person’s Vertex (except in terms of how they respond to them outwardly)….

From what I‘ve observed, in GENERAL (not specifically referring to your unique situation), USUSALLY the Vertex person is more impacted by the relationship …. Now, USUALLY does NOT mean ALWAYS….

That is why I referred to the rest of your synastry….. In the sense that I don’t know it…. A relationship is from an astrological perspective is so much more then the two or three aspects you have listed… and to understand the complete dynamic of a relationship would take a very detailed examination of other factors in the synastry….

And it is possible that these other factors may help explain why this connection is the way it is…. As in why it does not, in your opinion, fit a typical interpretation of a Vertex aspect…

In a previous post I said “Yeah, Vertex aspects aren’t the only synastry aspects that can produce a ‘pull’ however…. they is just one very potent factor that can….”

The point I was trying to make is that no astrological aspect one hundred percent reliable for producing certain kind of a result…. It may usually produce the expected result but…. Then again, there will always be quirky exceptions to the rule based on the rest of the synastry in a particular relationship…

“Just like with physical attraction…. It can come from quite a few different synastry aspects…. like Venus conjunct the Asc, or Mars trine Moon…. Both produce a ‘pull’, only the quality of it is different…”

Let me state that I was trying to imply that there was an attraction. I was using physical attraction aspects in astrology to make an example….. This example was that a connection or ‘pull’ between two people can come from a variety of different factors in astrology…. Each producing a ‘pull’ with it’s own unique flavor…. The Vertex is NOT the only explanation for the existence of a ‘pull’, just like it isn’t reliable one hundred percent of the time…. And nor are other astrological synastry aspects reliable one hundred percent of the time (even if they usually are)….

“Actually I was not talking about the rest of the synastry neither did I say that "he's more into me that I am into me".

Maybe you weren’t interested in bringing up the rest of the synastry as an explanation of why the Vertex synastry may not have played out as usual….. But I was interested in doing so,because I thought it is a relevant point as to why this is so.…

Also, Vertex aspects are not necessarily romantic in nature… unless the rest of the synastry indicates that this is likely… what the Vertex is about is hitting turning points that send us in the right direction…

“(For the record, I am not at all into him. LOL There's no "fascination" from my part, as I mentioned in my previous.) “

So you are not into him….is he into you? Are you platonic friends, acquaintances, co-workers, or class mates…. Or is he an admirer of yours who you are not fussed About?

“I think you simply failed to see my point. Not all cases fall neatly into the descriptions of the cookbooks and making them fit into a box just won't help. Oh well.”

Really! Because I feel a little like I’ve been repeating myself over and over again trying to say there are always exceptions to the rule in synastry… yes, there are the general tendencies…. But every now and then things don’t fit the typical interpretation due to other factors…. And so on….

Also, there are millions upon millions of people in the world with whom we could potentially have a powerful Vertex aspect with….. But not all of them will be important to us….. Having a Vertex aspect with someone does not guarantee a significant relationship….HOWEVER when we do have important life altering type relationships…. There USUALLY is some activity influencing our Vertex in the synastry…
But having the aspect in and of itself alone is no guarantee…. It only indicates that there is POTENTIAL….

I think mostly what is going on here with Anongrl is a communication issue…. We have different perspectives/ priorities as to what counts for what…

Hi Lotis White,

Do you have any thoughts on COMPOSITE Vertex conjunct COMPOSITE Descendant (orb of 4)?

Also, in a non romantic interaction how would moon conjunct Vertex both ways, i.e., for both persons affect them?

BTW, my moon at 14 Taurus 56' is conjunct your Vertex!

Thanks for your input.

I’m bumping this thread because I just saw the premiere of a new television show that I think exemplifies how the Vertex works…

It’s a show called ‘TOUCH’ , starring Kiefer Sutherland as the father of an autistic boy with an amazing ability to tune into the patterns of fate…. I just watched the fist episode and I thought of this thread… and thought “Yeah, that’s just the perfect example of Vertex aspects!”…

The Vertex: the synchronicity of fated/meaningful encounters and important turning points in our lives, that help us get to where we need to be…

Anyone in the USA should be able to watch this show on Hulu….. And if not, I’m sure there are other methods….

The show is a little over the top in a ‘Hollywood’ sort of way, but in the whole I think it holds very true to the general feel of the Vertex…

Linda Jones,

“You mentioned that your own Vertex is at 15 Taurus. YTA had also wanted to know what effect this would have in a non-romantic case.”

Interesting… I suspect that if we met there would be something about your home life, or how you process emotions, that would strongly influence my mindset…. And that if we were friends that I’d always look back on relationship and remember how you, either accidentally or on purpose, were able to help me make the right connections in life….and send me in the right direction…

If both parties had this aspect with each other…. Then it would go both ways, with both people effecting each other’s lives in this way…

Also, my Uranus is conjunct my Antivertex at 15 Scorpio…. So perhaps you’d find some of my crazy ideas inspiring….or maybe I’d just weird you out, ha ha! In either case, we would probably really stand out to each other as intriguing people to know, and learn some interesting things from each other…

Thanks, Lotis White. Maybe that's why I like reading your posts!

Do you have any thoughts on COMPOSITE Vertex conjunct COMPOSITE Descendant (orb of 4)?

@Lotis

My goodness, your interpretation of the North Node conjunct Vertex aspect hits so close to home it's not even funny. I share this with a guy I've been crazy about for the past couple of years.

NN conjuct vertex
His moon/venus conjunct antivertex
My NN square his sun
His NN square my moon.

VERTEX IN LIBRA: In Libra we find a vertex that longs for a union of souls that is based on a model of pure peace and justice. Images come to mind of a mythical life on Venus, the planet of love, where there is never a discordant beat between lovers, but rather, continual harmony even if played in the minor chords. Physical lust is certainly a necessary aspect of two beings eternally intertwined, but the platonic component far outweighs it in importance. If someone whom you are magnetically attracted to has this position, be stalwart and aggressive in your approach for his or her love, but always assume a non-combative attitude when matters of conflict arise.

VERTEX IN THE SIXTH HOUSE
You have an attitude of duty, obligation and sacrifice when it comes to heartfelt interactions. Here we often find associations unconsciously based on a medical or religious model of service and sometimes even sainthood. The negative side is the tendency to become hypochondriacal or martyristic to get the love so desperately wanted. There is a need for others to appreciate the sincerity of your intentions, to the daily tasks you execute in a conscientious and caring way and for others to know that your actions, no matter how routine they may seem, are based on devoted love.

Libra 22
Sabian Symbol: A little child is laughing as the water is turned into an artistic little fountain and as the birds hurry to drink.
Kozminsky Symbol: A youth searching for a jeweled ring which he has on his finger.

*Sabian Symbols*

You have to read them as -up to- 22 degree, this includes from 21 degrees 1 minute to 22.

Has to as it starts with 1 degree.

CORRECT?
