It has been said that a chain is only as strong as its' weakest link. That is not necessarily true when it comes to relationships. It is possible for the unit to be greater than the sum of its' parts. This means that an individual, no matter how weak - as an individual, may contribute a paramount roll to the unit. This is how strong Synastry Astrology relationships should be considered.

Synastry Aspects - Aspect meanings without the planets.

This is the significance of Synastry Aspects without the planets.
Synastry aspects define the (Yin & Yang, strength and weaknesses, give and take &/or, support) between the individuals: or the lack there of.

The Synastry Conjunctions (0) - suggest, strong ego driven impulses. The egos carry the potential, of being consciously controlled by the individuals involved.

These aspects are all over the place in charts, a necessary evil for all types of Astrology charts. Their influence carry different meanings, depending on the type of chart read.

The Synastry Semi-Sextiles (30) - suggest, incidental support. This can be in the form of handing the other party a glass of water - to an off handed comment to act on your impulse. If this is a stand alone aspect, then nothing more may come of the interaction. The strength of this aspect becomes stronger if it is in combination with any type of stronger aspect. Then this aspect influence could become the catalyst to the stronger aspect impulse actions.

The Synastry Semi-Square (45) - suggest, an incidental irritant. This can be in the form of rolling your eyes with a smirk on your face, over what the other says or does. If this is a stand alone aspect, then nothing more may come of the interaction. The strength of this aspect becomes stronger if it is in combination with any type of stronger aspect. Then this aspect influence could become the catalyst to the stronger aspect impulse actions.

The Synastry Sextile (60) - suggest, the ease in which the individuals interact. The more these aspect influences appear in a chart - the more in unison the union is likely to run. (Like a well oiled machined.)

The Synastry Square (90) - suggest - if gone unchecked - the natural flow of resistances. In the Synastry chart, this can be either stress within the unit or it could mean stresses to the unit from outside sources.

The Synastry Trine (120) - suggest, successful conclusions. This is the unencumbered result of directions taken.

The Synastry (Sesquisquare/Biquintile) (135) - suggest, incidental inconsistent behaviors. This is a potential - for an adamant change of direction in thought and or action from either party. This can lead to a disruption in plans, where it is wise to throw your agreement(s) up in the air and shred them and be willing to start a new round of plans/negotiations, completely void of what went on during the first. The end result potential, can be very good.

The Synastry (Quincunx/Inconjunct) (150) - suggest, incidental surprises that require either, (immediate attention or immediate appreciation of the moment). Health and work related issues have the potential, to draw your concern and possibly affect the unit.
i.e. She rearranged the flowers in the living room, he washed the car, a neighbor picked up the dead broken tree branches from your yard or, a family member suddenly becomes very ill. Your response or lack there of is where the issue is. Saying that is nice, the car looks good, thank you to the neighbor and or, getting that family member to a doctor can be appreciated by the person looking for a kind word or action.

The Opposition (180) - suggest, points of contention that have the potential - to lead to compromise or a split in the union. The compromise can be for internal problems between the parties or it can be due to a outside force imposing itself on the unit. The compromise can be, mutual or unilateral in nature (one person adjusting to the problem). It can be done, amiably or reluctantly, with or without the other side recognizing it. Or, it can be done, after fighting.

Mercury opposition Ascendant and or Jupiter opposition Ascendant are real POWER HOUSES in your favor!

Conjunction (0) - the grand form of the finished cake.

Semi-Sextile (30) - the sweet seasoning.
Semi-Square (45) - the bitter seasoning.

Sextile (60) - the tasty cake mix batter.

Square (90) - the frosting that missed the mark.
Trine (120) - the frosting that hit the mark.

Sesqui-Square (135) - the sprinkles on the frosting that mess up the look.
Quincunx (150) - the cherries on the frosting that can either, stay or go.

Opposition (180) - The appreciation of the completed product, or not.

Note:
Add the meaning of the aspects to the meaning of each planet being aspected - and you will get a strong felling for what the union is about.

Remember, that slow planet aspects hang around a long time, both good and bad, in Synastry charts. And especially, the closer you are in age. In more cases than not, we have to learn to live with the unpleasant slow planet aspects.
