But my mom is a Scorpio as well and she fits a lot of the negative stereotypes. 'Course my dad was the same about Aries (though my cousin a positive example of Aries, and he didn't care for my dad at all), so living with the 'rents wasn't fun at all. Still, I don't blame her sun sign so much as her life. Her Scorpio energies gave her inclinations but the instability & abuse & shunning she experienced growing up had more to do with why she became so self-destructive and bitter and cruel to those around her. Granted, if she'd been a Sag or Libra instead I'm sure she'd have been different, but more in subtle (yet still noticeable) ways than significant ones.

IOW, it's not a question of "liking" Scorpio women it's about taking individuals as they are. All the babies in the same hospital nursery may have identical (or nearly so) charts (AND Chinese astrology) but they're born with different genetics, different physical components, one may have been born addicted to hard drugs, have very different parents (which will lead to very different life experiences from each other), and some say even the name given to a child has an affect (both psychologically and in numerology). So if they're all newborn Scorpios I'm not gonna like or dislike them all, I'll just wish them all well and hope their positives Scorpio traits manifest more than their negative ones (just as I would any other sun sign).

Hi, my mom is scorpio sun and mercury .
I've never know she has scorpio sun before study astro!
All I can tell ,she doesn't fit that bad rep. from the book at all. I think there's many levels of scorpio . From bottom , they have all bad reputation ie. jeaulous, manipulative , OCD . But the evolved one know those kinds of behavior are self-destroying.

I was raised by her , I'm so pround to be who I am till now . One things for sure she is honest ,can see through any situation , noone can fool her ,and she tought me well with this ..lol

I've been reading a lot on astrology for some time (to my surprise - wasn't hard to learn and the connections with psychology made it even easier) - but I've also used what i learn in practice - above post was mostly sarcasm (BS - and i made that pretty clear) with a small drop of truth... ^^

It seemed appropriate for this topic - where the OP seemed discouraged by a stereotype... and she shouldn't be... yet, i understand her - cause when you start with the basics of astrology - you tend to learn a lot of BS (judging book by covers), only when you get further along the path you begin to realize that there's more to a person than the Sun Sign... a lot more...
