Vedic doesn't appeal to me, either. I dated a Vedic Astrologer for a few months, and learned a lot from him about that system of Astrology, but it only reinforced my faith in Western Astrology. And I practically converted him into Western Astrology. IP: Logged |

Sorry, but if that's what your vedic report said about your planets in the 6th house it probably wasn't a very good report. The 6th house in vedic astrology has more to do with ENEMIES, DISEASE, and SERVICE It doesn't have to do with career or work... It might only mean work in the sense of service/slave work and mundane tasks to an extent, but mostly the 6th house does not denote a workaholic or career at all. I am big on Vedic astrology. Western astrology to me is wishy washy. It's very much based on psychology which is a wishy washy "science" in itself and much of it's personality interpretations can realistically apply to 80% of the people. Vedic astrology doesn't focus so much on your personality traits, but rather on prediction which it is excellent in. However I prefer western astrology when it comes to synastry. Vedic astrology has a system of compatibility, but it is so dated (thousands of years old) that many of it's predictions do not really apply in relationships any more. Western synastry on the other hand is I feel excellent and determining how a relationship will fare. Synastry like Vedic astrology, isn't wishy washy... its predictive science. Anyway that's my 2 cents which is worth... 2 cents I guess. IP: Logged |

Exactly!! And, although it is western astrology that i use as well, but it is the sidereal chart (vedic) that i use for placements ( sign positions and degrees)since all placements will be 22-23 degrees behind. It is because i live in india, and i think this very much has something to do with our geological locations....because according to western, my sun-moon is in taurus, but no way! i am a typical aries. So yeah, i think tropical/sidereal must be used depending on our location...tropical/equitorial... And, well since i began with vedic, i used to use whole signs house system...but realised that is not right for the western type of analysis (personality, relationships, etc), hence i changed to Equal house system and that works for me accurately. the thing about vedic vs wa is the sun.In WA its really important and in Vedic it is bad.Example sun in 5th in WA gives you creativity love of children romance etc.IN vedic 5th hous this person said that the sun burns the 5th house and makes it harder for someone to have children. Also conjunction in WA and in vedic it is bad because the sun burns the other planet.Look both are good but both can also apply to a large part of the population meaning your chart can apply to me and my chart can apply to u.So i think u can take this stuff with a grain of saltIP: Logged |

One of the ways Vedic differs from western is in their understanding of the Nodes. In western, the North Node is considered the "better" node, but not so in Vedic astrology. Western world is focused on material attainments, and the NN is a path to that, thus considered the place where we are supposed to go, while in Vedic, spiritual attainments are reflected through the South Node.
