You know what? Yeah, you totally shouldn't get a tat, because you don't even get why most people get tattoos in the first place and just keep parroting back that same old ignorant stereotype - that everyone who gets one, gets it just because they just like the idea of a tattoo and don't really care what they get on them and how it's executed.

My tattoo was about fifty bucks for five letters - not cheap. The guy who did it was extremely helpful and patient, and made sure it was well-executed and done exactly how I wanted it - it's literally an exact copy of my mother's handwriting. He used quality ink, didn't dig too deeply into my skin, and I had no adverse reactions or anything later - a miracle for someone like me, who has the skin of a princess and could've had all kinds of horrible reactions if I'd gotten a tattoo from someone lazy or an artist who didn't have the proper tools equipment, mindset, and know what they're doing.

I love my tattoo. Every time I see it I smile and think of my mother, and I love the idea of having something connected to my mother - her name, in her own handwriting as opposed to some random font - on me permanently, and I love text tattoos. I felt it was the perfect way to honor and memorialize her; simple, understated and elegant (my mother had beautiful handwriting) - usually I'm the only person who ever sees it. I didn't want a big portrait tattoo on my arm.

I can't wait to get more, and at this point the only thing stopping me is financial constraints and the fact that I have other things I need to attend to, first. But ideally, I want to have my wrist tattoo by this time next year.

The majority of people who get tattoos have a significant meaning behind their tattoo even if you don't know the story behind it and it just looks like a scribble or a doodle to you personally, that you assume they just got because they wanted to be able to say they have a tattoo.

I think your personal perception of tattoos is very Neptunian (in an afflicted sense - foggy, confused and all over the place), but that doesn't make tattoos Neptunian in general. And like I said before, if that's what you think tattoos and people who get them, are all about, then yeah, they're absolutely, not for you. You'd be better off scribbling on yourself with a Sharpie, because you'd be one of the ones in a doctor's office a few years from now getting anything more permanent, fried off your hide.

WAIT!

I need TWO more cause I have two reasons!

SHEEAT, there goes the even number thang....

lol!

I LOVE em, I am fifty and I scorn myself for wanting another, but atleast, as I age even more, mine will be vibrant and full of life as I enter my "elder" years!

I have one tattoo currently and I'm very happy I got it. I got it for one of my birthdays and it took me several years to decide what it was that I wanted and what I wanted it to symbolize. For me, it symbolizes my connection to my spiritual life and to astrology because at that time I had been studying astrology for 10 years. I also did it because the previous year I had seriously injured myself and had a large visible scar, so I thought to myself, if fate can force me to have this scar, then I will give myself a scar that will be beautiful. It is a symbol of a life lived, instead of a life lived in fear of pain (physical or emotional).

It is not a small tattoo, and apparently I was going against convention in my family (which I wasn't even fully aware of). The women in my family all freaked out about it (but women don't GET tattoos!). I didn't give a crap though. I wasn't doing it because it was a 'trend.' I did it because it was something that I deeply wanted. I fully expect to maintain it over the years, but so far, it continues to look beautiful.

I do have heavy Uranus aspects, but very few Neptunian aspects.

Uranus conjunct Jupiter
Uranus square Sun/MC/Venus
Uranus opp Chiron
Uranus grand trine Moon and Mars

Neptune square Mercury

Nice input! But actually, I pretty much agree with you. Sounds like you get quality stuff done.

My post is intended for people who are just going to be impulsive about getting a tat. I think it's a mistake and since it's so permanent, might want to be sure to get the best or just wait til it is possible to do so. Of course, everyone does what they want anyway. Just an opinion

I think for people who got them just for their own pleasure because they think they're nice-looking, that would be Venus.

For someone who wanted to jump on a bandwagon and be a part of a trend, it's probably something like Saturn - status, wanting to 'belong'.

For people who got them because they have a meaning behind them or personal significance, I want to say Pluto or the Moon, for the emotional component.

I think in the early decades of tattooing, back when it was actually still controversial, it probably was the domain of Uranus, but not so much anymore, because they're pretty mainstream now.

Having said that - it's always struck as comical in a weird way when some people look down their huge noses at those who do have tattoos, insisting that everyone who has any does it to be a part of a trend, and then declaring that their own lack of tattoos somehow makes them special. I find that hilarious as hell because they really aren't that different from the folks who go out and mindlessly get tattoos because they think it makes them look 'edgy'.

It's that same silly thing motivating both sides of that - the desire to try and stick out - thing is, they just pick different routes to try to get to the same destination, which is "LOOK AT ME! AREN'T I SPECIAL?!". So the condescension and self-righteousness always strikes me as incredibly hypocritical and ludicrous.

Which camp do I fall in in the whole tattoo debate? The Moon-Pluto Tattoo camp. After my mom died, I got her name tattooed on my shoulder blade, in her handwriting. I wanna get one more tattoo, on my inner left wrist - "Love", written in her handwriting. Although I've toyed around with the idea of getting a cross tattoo somewhere. Probably on my left side too.

There's a reason for this - people into dark magic and the occult in a negative sense are referred to as being on the left-hand path. The left side is supposed to be associated with Satan and all things negative and dark. Which is why I want to have things that embody the exact opposite of those, tattooed on that side, just to **** the Devil off.

As a slight aside - since people are posting celeb tattoo pics, my favorite is probably Freja Beha; I love her tattoos (barring the gun one) :

Good post.

I associate tattoos with Scorpio for the most part. The age groups that are most tatted are Neptune in Scorpio, Uranus in Scorpio (every tatted Pluto Libra I've noticed on here has it), and Pluto in Scorpio. There are exceptions, like Kat Von D (late Libra Pluto, though she has Jupiter in Scorpio as well), but when you consider that the Pluto Leos and Pluto Cancers are rarely tatted and that tattoos have become more and more mainstream when each Scorpio generation has come of age, it's hard to dispute that. Aquarius is more aloof and detached, which is the opposite of tattoos, unless you cover yourself with them in order to be different.

I would agree that in the past-when tatoos were associated with "fringe" people like gangsters and hoodlums, there was a stigma attached to them. And how when someone got one, it was considered controversial. That that individual was seen as a "rebel" etc.

But since pop culture ;whether it be rock music, hip hop or grunge/alternative culture has made it so "hip".Tatoos have lost the "edge" appeal and thus are now seen as a cliche. So Uranus is no longer their affiliate. Its probably Venus/Mercury's domain now

I do however think that if the tatoos are unique i.e extensive tatoos that cover the whole body or a number of body piercings-together with huge tatoos and a strange hairstyle etc would still be Uranus.

Uranus doesn't do main stream. When anything becomes accepted by everyone and becomes the "norm".Uranus moves on to other frontiers.

With celebs,Uranus expression is so saturated. Because all are trying to be "different".But few stand out as unique.

I associate tatoos with expression of individuality. But i do not see them as Uranus anymore

I have three tattoos and the most exact aspect in my chart is my Uranus-Neptune conjunction squaring my Venus. My Venus and Mars are in exact semisextile so my Mars is exactly sextile my Uranus-Neptune conjunction. I'd definitely say Uranus rules me... my natal Taurus sun is exactly conjunct my 11th house cusp and the 11th is naturally ruled by Aquarius so Uranus and Saturn too.

Tattos and Uranus makes a hell lot of sense. I have myself found that every girl or boy, men and females on social media or people I have met irl who has weird hair colours like blue, green, super red etc. Or dreadlocks on white people, Piercins etc.

Or unique style of clothing style, be it sloppy comfy styles or more "fashion" unique, I have everytime I looked at their chart found Aquarius or strong Uranus! Usually Uranus in aspect to the Sun though (identity) or lots of aqua placements.

Not unusual at all of course since Uranus/aqua individiual strive to be unique, look unique, feel unique.

Uranus makes contact with my Sun, merc, moon, mars etc, and well I do look unique as I am, without needing to try, living in a western country amongst swedes having a different ethnicity so, I don't need to feel or look more unique, I already feel unique as I am. I understand those who strive for unconventional looks, in this sociaty some really does not wanna blend in and I get that! I wish I could BLEND IN sometimes and not have to draw attention to myself but thats impossible :/. But I am happy with myself and very proud of my background and my mediterranean ethnicity.

AND I guess the virgo asc in me (or due to other placements?) absolutely dislikes tattos! I find them really disfiguring, (no disrespect to those who put meaningful tatoos on their bodies, like important names, birth dates etc.) I mean, why put a bumperstick on ones body? A permanent one? Our bodies are holy temples!

Also as a gemini stellium, I would get really bored of a tattoo if I were to get one meaningful or not

I have 2 large tattoos on the inside of each arm/bicep. I plan to acquire more, eventually. I have no interest whatsoever in piercings.

Plenty of Uranus/Aquarius influence in my chart:

- Aquarius ASC
- Mercury trine Uranus
- Venus trine Uranus
- Moon, Mars, and Jupiter quincunx/inconjunct Uranus
- Uranus is also the apex planet of my yod
- Uranus and Neptune in my 11th house
