Great thread and yeah damn those embarrasing moments.I’ve got 4 quincunxes in my chart, all of them involve my gemini moon;moon/8H quincunx neptune/3H,uranus/3H,pluto/1H and north node/1H.Sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong era, maybe it’s because of quincunx involving generational planets.IP: Logged |

anonymidarkness, That's really interesting actually. Having quincunxes with outer planets, and feeling as if you were born in the wrong era makes sense. As if there's a mismatch between your personal tendencies and your generational enviroment. Cool. IP: Logged |

We tend to not differentiate between those, but lately I find myself more interested int he phasal relationship of the aspects themselves. The different phases of aspects also make for different aspects in composite, so I thought they might be important.EDIT: the quinkunx between my Moon and Saturn is waning, in the Scorpio-phase. (the phasal relationships are counted from slower planet to faster moving).
Thanks for the info about phasal relationships and aspects. I knew this with regard to separating or approaching aspects, but didn't really think of it as applying to this. You've given me a good idea. Now that I think about it, you could use this method to decipher trines, squares, and sextiles too. A Sagittarius trine or a Leo trine? A Gemini or an Aquarius sextile? A Cancer or a Capricorn square? I can see how Capricorn could fit for squares (The whole struggle for achievement and security thing), along with Cancer, for sure. Aquarius' friendly nature suits owning it's own sextile. And Sagittarius with it's own trine is also a pretty good fit. It might have something to do with feeling comfortable enough to wax poetic about your beliefs, and having hope for the future because everything is flowing so smoothly. Slower planet to fast moving planet... So I count from Venus in Sagittarius forward to Moon in Cancer. Yep. I'm a Scorpio Quincunx person also. It makes sense. I'm like a magnet for interpersonal 'vibes'. I feel a bit of the Virgo side too. However, Venus rules my 6th house, and the Moon rules my 8th. I guess it makes total sense I'd feel both a strong 'Scorpio' and 'Virgo' vibe. My general health is pretty robust, but I do get minor ailments that bug me from time to time. Like my body's only slightly 'off' and needs to be adjusted. IP: Logged |

"but didn't really think of it as applying to this." Well, I`ve read about it in some astrlogy books and here. http://theinnerwheel.com/2010/10/08/first-steps-phasal-relationships/ http://theinnerwheel.com/2010/01/14/soli-lunar-phasal-relationship/ And also in the book on progressions I have; First time I came across it though was in the book by Dane Rudhyar on the aspect series in relation to the phases of the Moon. It is not really translated into sign relationships as Aquarius or Gemini, but I`ve been thinking that this might very well be a thing to consider (actually Linda Goodman herself considered it, too, when describingt he relationships between signs).
"Slower planet to fast moving planet... So I count from Venus in Sagittarius forward to Moon in Cancer. Yep. I'm a Scorpio Quincunx person also." Yes it would be a waning quinkunx (after having passed the point of fullmoon and consciousness/ relating).

Okay, so according the phasal relationships theory…So I’ve got a ‘Scorpio’ Quincunx. Now I’m going to try this on my other aspects. I’ve got a Saturn/Venus trine. Counting from slower moving Saturn to fast moving Venus is 5 signs. My Saturn/Venus trine is a ‘Leo’ trine. So my Saturn/Venus trine is actually pretty ‘romantic’. It’s true that I see loyalty as a beautiful gift to give. With Venus involved there's always a 'love' theme. But intuitively I have to say I feel that the 'Leo' theme for this trine fits. I’ve also got a Saturn/Jupiter sextile. Counting forward from Saturn to Jupiter is 11 signs. My Saturn/Jupiter sextile is an ‘Aquarius’ sextile. This actually really makes sense, I’m very ideological and am totally into analyzing people. Gemini energy is more random. I guess oppositions are still just Libran and conjunctions Arian then. So my Venus/Jupiter opposition is still just a ‘Libra’ aspect.

quote: Same thing with people involved in relationships that have strong quincunx synastry. How do you feel this energy in the relationship? Do you feel it’s more Virgo or Scorpio in quality? Or some combo of both?
I honestly can't tell if it's more this, that or some combo. We've 2 x quincunx in our synastry. - My Sun quincunx his Uranus - His Moon quincunx my Uranus (he has a Moon/Uranus sextile natally and I have a Sun/Uranus sextile natally) So with both interaspects there's a 3rd planet making it a YOD and finally some type of fortress as both yods are interlocked. A very strong geometrical pattern. Do I feel that? Yesss! But not in a scorp or virgo way (I'm full of scorp & virgo myself) but the *LIGHT* here is a verrry strong & striking vibration of independence between us which I literally LOVE! (it's a miracle that I found this, which clearly confirmed with this pattern) I strongly believe that a quincunx in natal OR synastry needs a 3rd planet to balance things out. I see this happening again, again and again in synastry. Me only one quincunx Chiron/Moon natally and while I have no idea how this has to *feel* (I feel so much) there wasn't one exception in my relationships that it wasn't touched by a planet of the other to make a Yod, a mystical triangle or another nice trine-outlet for it. My current one has; A Venus/Neptune - Jupiter quincunx (offset by my Chiron > mystical triangle) A Jupiter-Moon quincunx (my Uranus > Yod) And ofcourse my own Chiron-Moon (his Jupiter > mystical triangle) Not literally ONE quincunx (in our natal AND synastry) is a stand-alone one. I give myself just as an example but when it comes to the quincunx that's the verry first thing I look for: an OUTLET! And I bet you find them more often than not. Mainly in synastry ofcourse if you haven't one in your own chart. My way IP: Logged |

Lot is..I haven't read the entire posts yet, just skimmed it so far.. I need coffe and quite, before I can sit down and read it...lol I have cancer Venus Quinx sag Neptune.. The energy is there, it has always been there, I have always ' used' the energy.. Only it wasn't known to me, maybe subconsciously I use the energy, unlike Venus square Pluto energy I just do and feel it cuz it's a part of me.. The Venus,Neptune is more not knowing but maybe that's cuz Neptune is involved.. I act out the energy but didn't say realize it until he hits u in the face, some how or back fires... Then it's like ooh wow..l I DO, do that... I didn't even realize it.. Before it hits u, u just go with it without thinking, but then it hits u, then u realize there is some type of adjustment or change needed..
IMO... I think that's how it effects me IP: Logged |

It is my experience that quincunxes (inconjuncts/150) are often pivotal aspects in the birth chart that help us 'get off the fence' and make changes in key areas of our development. All the people I know personally who have Venus quincunx Jupiter natally are healers. One is a nurse. One is an ND. One is a healer/herbalist/astrologer (me). I could look at this aspect as one of moving us from a feeling of empathy (Venus) to one of actually giving of self (Jupiter) to help/change others in need. The 'good nature' is evident, but there are some particular lessons about how much and what/when it is appropriate to give. Venus quincunx Jupiter is a potential reset of the balance between broader social involvement/generosity and what one gets for oneself. It can help an over-giving person learn boundaries or a stingy person learn to open up more. The two energies are an 'itch' in this awkward relationship until integration is found. Quincunxes are not the demons some posts in this thread seem to imply. Nor are they as stressful as implied. Nothing like squares or even oppositions or contra-parallels. Indeed, the quincunx points to a major important 'reset' to make in one's life. Often it points to one planetary energy that needs to be integrated with the other. Yes, these aspects can feel awkward. Earlier in life it can seem like you are stuck in one end of the dynamic, but later on in the other end. The key is integration. Quincunxes have a different dynamic from those entirely. This 150 degree aspect is the only major aspect created by dividing the 360 degree circle by a non-whole number, 2.4 / two and two-fifths). This makes it a standout. It represents a detour from what is normal momentum for us. If we don't stay on track it seems it is the concrete barrier of the quincunx that we bump into. Thus, its association with health issues, its reputation for 'causing' accidents (or even reversals in mental health, depending on aspects, events). No, we got off track and got bumped by the boundary. The interpretation has less to do with the signs involved and much more to do with the planets making the actual aspect. ------------------ Professional astrology - Expert rectification http://kannonmcafee.wordpress.com/ Rising Sign descriptions: https://kannonmcafee.wordpress.com/rising-signs-2/ IP: Logged |

I have a quincunx between my Libra Moon in the 2nd and Taurus Mars. This combo doesn't seem conflicting to me. I don't know how this aspect manifests itself in my life. Maybe it has something to do with my weird sexuality (Mars rules the 8th).------------------ I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy. IP: Logged |
