I was perusing Pottermore with my friend, who's also super into Astrology, and she got Slytherin, which led to a whole discussion about what exactly Slytherin is, how it's not just a group of shady peoples, it's people with drive and ambition, and not scared to get their hands dirty to get what they want, leading to their bad reputation. This started both of us wondering the connection between Astrology and Hogwarts Houses, we both thought that Slytherin seemed very Scorpio, but I would love to talk with other Astrology/Harry Potter nerds about itHere is her Chart (she's a Slytherin) http://s1315.photobucket.com/user/Scorpicorn/media/Lauren_zps5c32bec9.gif.html?sort=3&o=0 And here is my chart (I'm a Ravenclaw) http://s1315.photobucket.com/user/Scorpicorn/media/mychart_zps4fc91632.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1 IP: Logged |

I haven't played Pottermore, but the houses are all supposed to be the fixed signs.Gryffyndor (sp?) = Leo Slytherin = Scorpio Ravenclaw = Aquarius Hufflepuff = Taurus If you want to get really goofy, you can look up what each character's wand material is. It corresponds to the Celtic sign of each. I've heard that she even has charts for the main characters drawn up ("born" in 1980, w00t). ------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device. If I had to choose elements for each, Slytherin is so water. Whatever means necessary. Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw would be fire and earth, and Gryffindor is air. Pottermore sorted me into Slytherin, though sometimes I think I'm a mix of Gryffindor and Slytherin.IP: Logged |

Yeah, they all have their good and bad (well, never heard of bad for Hufflepuff, though I presume they have their bad apples, too). I agreed with this on the Yahoo Answers linked to above: quote: Gryffindor = Fire (Aries, Leo, Sag) Ravenclaw = Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) Hufflepuff = Earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) Slytherin = Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)
Of course I don't see that as defining the signs of those within the Houses. Snape is such a Cappie to me (I know many say Scorpio, and he does have some strong Scorpio traits, but I think his Cappie is stronger and likely sun sign, and btw, the character's birthday makes him a Cappie!) I'm not sure about Slughorn, he makes me think both Cappie and Taurus with a Leo ascendant. I think Harry Potter represents the very best of Leo (and his character IS a Leo, too) while Lucius the very worst. IP: Logged |

i did a quiz a long time ago and i remember got gryffindor. I'm Air/Water. i made my brother do it too and he got slytherin,he's Water/Water. (but then he's also chinese year snake..so sneaky lol)it think it is hard to match those houses with astrolgical signs though but interesting topic anyway. IP: Logged |

Lovely topic, I havent registered yet at pottermore but I remember when i was a kid I had took a similar quiz and I think I got Gryffindor.I read somewhere that Hermione is a Virgo, I dont really agree with that, any better suggestions? She would mostly strike me as a Gemini since she's so keen on learning new stuff all the time? Pisces is suitable for Ron, but I think maybe Cancer would be even better since he loves his big family a lot. I would chose Aries,Leo or Aquarius for Harry, so yeah Leo suits him. IP: Logged |

I'm aquarius in slytherin with cap moon and taurus asc. Nothing 'matches up' for me sign wise with slytherin, but I'm definitely in the right house...I've got all the traits, negative ones included! IP: Logged |

according to the Harry Potter wiki, JK Rowling actually had elements roughly corresponding with houses, she had Gryffindor: Fire Ravenclaw: Air Hufflepuff: Earth Slytherin: WaterIP: Logged |

Having been in several sorting communities out there as well as Pottermore, the most common signs in the Slytherin house when sorted by the other members of the Potter community were Leo, Capricorn, Scorpio and Cancer. People or signs traditionally focused on prestige, success, security and such sorts that may feature or come with ambition and getting somewhere in life. Aquarius I think trailed quite close by after the top signs, which I imagine may reflect some Saturn sides of the sign. The least common sun sign among our Slytherin members was Pisces. The house sortings were based on questions that gauged people's leanings and motivations far better than Pottermore, so they reflect actual possible Slytherin motivations or people better. I have a Leo Sun and Asc with a Pisces Moon. I've always been sorted into Slytherin everywhere so far despite having Ravenclaw on the side. IP: Logged |
