I wasn't sure what to call this post.My Arian boyfriend always seems reluctant to try anything I suggest. Today we were watching music videos and when I took control and started playing music that he isn't into ,he was reluctant to watch em. I didn't make a big deal about it until he let me know he was tired of the videos I was watching by sucking his teeth then closing his eyes.
He only listens to one genre of music, and I was not playing it. I wasn't expecting him to watch every video but I really wanted him to use this moment as a time to soak up the side of me he never gets to experience because we're always doing what he wants. I talked to him about it and he denied my accusations.

I don't do this to him. When he's watching something I'm not interested in I watch it anyway because I could find inspiration, and I can learn more about him.

Maybe he just needs time to get used to new music? I'm like that. I practically hate everything first time I hear it. After I get used to it, I can't live without it. So, just keep showing him the same videos, one day he will say, "where's that song again?" when you least expect it.IP: Logged |

As a couple I think it's important to share things and reveal what makes you different from your partner. To me it makes my partner more attractive knowing I can pick up and learn things from them. ------------------

Ariens aren't really resistant to change/adaptaion, except if they have dominant planets in fixed signs. Does your boyfie have it somewhere in his chart? (moon, asc?)IP: Logged |

I think that I'm inclined to agree with the above (re: strong fixed sign influence). The only person that I know that does stuff like this is actually a Pisces with Venus in Aquarius and a Leo Rising. He will only tolerate listening to music that -he- likes. If something comes on the radio or a someone selects a song on Spotify that isn't his "jam", he'll spout out something like "b*tch, don't kill my vibe" (I think I'm giving away his music tastes with that line  ) and just change it without consideration of what others might want to listen to.Conversely, this isn't something that would bother me (Aries with Venus in Pisces and Virgo Rising) enough to make such a fuss about. Although, I'm an Aries, thus perhaps biased...so take that with a grain of salt, hahaha ------------------

What was it that bothered you the most ~ the fact that he didn't like the music or the fcat of him not doing something just to please you?Aries [as a sign, any planet] are like that, it has no problem being an individual, it doesn't have to negotiate ~ it's not part of the deal. And anyway, balance, negotiating, and taking turns are all Libra's thing.... If he's reluctant to try things you suggest ~ stop suggesting things to him. If he denies doing everything his way, ask him to name something you've done as a couple for you.... The music thing is very personal, not everyone has a wide taste and some are extremely fussy, and some are sensitive. If someone played a genre I didn't like ~ I'd REALLY struggle to listen to it [although I do like a few different ones]. I can see why you'd be irritated/annoyed/upset, but at the same time ~ he is who he is. Aries will do as they damn well please, and if you don't like it ~ they'll show you the door...that's how it is...BUT ~ they usually will grant the same in return but you have to have the gumption to stand by your actions and words. if you dont want to listen to what your BF listens to or whatever, dont listen to it.
i think you should be a little upset that he doesnt listen to you. dont be DEMANDING but dont be afraid to stand your ground on your decisions. when i see that i can get leeway with somebody, thats when i will really push. but if you cant get leeway then there will probably be no pushing and ultimately compromise. remember, aries always have to be part of the action. if there is a stop in the action, they will have a tendency to want to push towards it. ------------------

I was frustrated with him because he didn't give it a chance. He wasn't even trying to seem interested in what I'm into. I'm not asking him to convert his music religion (he listens to underground hip hop religiously), but I was asking him to step into my world for a little bit because I'm always in his. He doesn't realize that we're ALWAYS doing what he wants to do. But it's never been a problem doing what he wants because I merge so easily with my partner that it's natural. But I just wanted him to see a side of me he never sees but he decided not to pay attention. ------------------

Whenever we're in the car, he always picks the music and I don't mind because I like the music. But I love variety so I'll try to switch it up and he gets so antsy and itchy like he can't bear to be on Earth anymore.Funny thing is that he's Libra rising and moon so I would assume that he would be a lot more accommodating but nope. ------------------
