I see the combust as causing mental or emotional imbalance.

These could lead to depression. I am sorry if this is so perturbing for you, K.

I guess anything can cause depression in the chart.

What about negative aspects with the sun and moon?

Afflicted planets in 12th can make the person both suicidal and depressive but it is just a possibility, it all depends upon how the person perceives the situation.

So statistically most people are mentally unstable when mercury is within 10 degrees of their sun,
because that's what a conjunction/combustion is.

Okay, makes sense.
Probably why there's so many crazy people in the world

Ami,

Astute observation about combust Sun/Mercury. I have it within 10' of orb; it does affect the way I think. I find that I obsess over things often, particularly embarrassing moments and criticisms. A tight Neptune opposition doesn't help, either.

It could definitely lead to (for lack of a better term) madness, which could lead to depression or suicidal thinking.

Neptune seems to me to be a huge catalyst for Suicide. It's effects are extremely hard to get over in my opinion.

Anyone have thoughts about Neptune?

12th house definitely has to do with depression and suicide, no matter what is in there.

A lot of people have difficulty coping. It's common. They try to hide it/put on a brave face. You do not see their pain until they try to end it.

That's why I vote for combination with Sun/Mercury combustion on the list of possibilities in the depressed or suicidal. It doesn't mean everyone with it will have it happen, it could be triggered by external events.

That sounds very depressing. I don’t want to suffer anymore, let’s commit mass suicide. Which method would be best?

K
I have explained that the combust is the problem which is exact to 5.

Exact is very intense and it goes forward with 5 being less so.

Exact to 2-3 is very intense imo

The conjunction is good! It goes from 5/6 to 10.

This give keen intelligence.

If Budha suffers asta "burn-out", one remains clever but becomes too self-focused - literally "solipsistic". the native is intelligent and mentally adaptive with verbal fluency and quick response to five-senses stimuli.

Yet, one may not easily comprehend the perceptions and feelings of others.

The closer Budha gets to Surya, the more self-referential the native may become. One's own experience is less integrated with the experience of others.

Solipsism is not always a bad thing for highly placed social leaders, whose duties may require a "full steam ahead" level of self-confidence unimpeded by the feelings or opinions of others. But for those located in the rank-and-file, such a person may be considered rather selfish or unaware.

If Budha is more than 13/11 degrees away from Ravi, highly intelligent and helpful, youthful appearance, works well with younger people, excellent teacher if other conditions support teaching/training.

You know something is up when the scariest and the most fatalistic astro system is lenient about an aspect.
However sun/venus combustions are suppose to suck big time.
Enjoy your crap marriages

Thank you Sag!

As I explained to K, it is good and beneficial when the conjunction is 5-6 to 10. I have 7. This does not make one super sensitive and close to oneself. This gives a keen mind.

What is your orb?

K

You said you did not believe in traditional rules such as the Domicile, Fall etc

Is that what you mean? Like Venus in Scorpio is in the Fall so weakened.

The reason these are true is because of the energy behind them.

Energy is behind everything in the world, including the planets.

Not really...
I truly deep down believe in psychological astrology... I just study other systems.
No placement is weak or strong for me.
It's just a matter of taste.

I happen to love moon in scorpio and all its "nasty" energy.

I'm not really impressed by taurus moon.

10' orb. Mercury is 1°29', Sun is 1°39. In Cancer, no less!

Newb question.

Could say.... later in life (progressed chart) have enough influence to make a person snap out of (or into) depression?

Plus, maybe mine was a transit or some sort?
EVERY SINGLE EPISODE going back was in the months of June, July, August. Essentially, reversed SAD. It does exist but highly rare. I guess I'm lucky.
