Those are the year cycles or something. (8x2 blocks at the bottom) I think they're pretty much like Vedic Astrology's Dashas. Do you understand yours now? IP: Logged |

There are 10 heavenly stems and 12 earth branches form 60 groups. The element you often see is the element of the heavenly pillar. Each pillar rules 2 years, one Yin and one Yang. But there is also another complicated calculation, which is based on how the energy transits and transforms between the two years. The result of this calculation is the element which also rules those two years, besides the ruling element of the heavenly pillar. The reasons behind this calculation have been the topic of debate and research for years, it is one of the most mystical parts of Chinese astrology. I was born in metal horse year, and my other ruling element is Earth (sand Earth to be exact).

I'm really confused right now, lol. So you're a Metal Horse Year, and your other element is Earth. (sand Earth to be exact) What do you mean your other element is Earth and how can I find out what exact Wood I am? IP: Logged |

mercurian intellect: In general, mountain top fire, kitchen fire and candle fire don’t do well with water or certain metal like sea metal. In some cases, such as thunder fire, they need water to express their potential (rain, storms and thunder). It is said that because mountain top fire is closer to the sky (heaven), it could mean that the native have opportunities to have great achievements and social. Short-tempered. Do well with wood and fire. Say, if you were born in wood or fire hour or have strong fire/wood in the chart, or have a wife/business partner/parents.. who has strong fire/wood, your chances of success will likely be increased.

That's a lot of info, 12Muddy, these sound complicated with 60. I am still trying to wrap my head around it. Thanks for helping So, the element decides whether they are yin and yang and each one gets two years, the cycle repeats? In your list it says my year is a "small area of earth" and the next is "jeweled metal." I am probably an earth rooster, not a metal one. IP: Logged |

I think they are two different sets of signs. Because I'm a Wood Pig and my other element is a Mountain-Top Fire. But I'm still a Wood Pig, that doesn't change. It's just an extra sign I believe. So were you ever able to figure out if you were a Metal or Earth Rooster? IP: Logged |

Mercurian Intellect: If you're interested in chinese astrology, it can be good to consult a BaZi astrologer and a fengshui master. Fire is counted from the stars in your chart. Unfortunately I haven't found a link that generate free chinese birth chart with a complete set of stars. quote: Originally posted by Kerosene: What is sword metal all about...?
Sword metal (or gold sword). Although it is said that fire and metal are incompatible, in the case of sword metal, if this person has strong fire or find a Fire partner (any kind of fire will do), chances are that their potentials will be boosted to the highest degree – “fire” + “metal” = “sword”. Don’t do well with wood.
The native can be headstrong and goal-oriented, sharp and quick (think sword in a battle). May have to go through a period of difficulties and challenges. Resilient. Can become ruthless, tyrannical, or too stubborn. ---
Over the next 1, 2 days I'll gather articles of the general descriptions of each element and translated them. Hope people will find them interesting IP: Logged |

Now I'm completely lost again, well not completely. I am pretty sure I am definitely a "small piece of earth." I must be a metal rooster with a small piece of earth as my other element? IP: Logged |

You're a Metal Rooster Year. But you're also a Small Piece of Earth. That's your other element. Forget about the Earth Rooster because it just so happened that your other element was Earth. (Small piece of earth to be exact) You're a Metal Rooster. That's what that calculator said, right? IP: Logged |

Metal and earth sound like they would be compatible. What do you think, Mercurial? Maybe metal goes with fire? My pillars are looking better than my western chart, lol. The website YTA provided is a bit more detailed. *edit* The BaZi website calculated Rooster yin metal for the year. IP: Logged |

I'm not sure about Earth and Metal. Maybe because Metal comes from the Earth. Metal and Fire can go together to make the sword like Kerosene has, I guess, lol. Why do you say your Pillars are better than your Western Chart? IP: Logged |

SSS and MI: sorry I know it’s not clear. It is difficult to put things in western astrology terms, or even find English words that describe well. The essence of Chinese astrology is just kinda different. Like MI said, these two are interpreted together. If you’re an Metal rooster (metal here points to the element of your heavenly pillar), Small area of earth – now that’s the resulting element of when the energies transformed.

But yeah, in your case it is quite good. Earth bears metal.
This is nice to read And it makes sense, too, in my life. I am really good at growing all sorts of plants outside, flowers, shrubs, trees, even herbs like Basil, onions, tomatoes. I have a green thumb. Taurus moon in western.I bet earth is best with water and wood. I wonder if fire is good with wood since it needs fuel. Obviously, fire and water are not a great combination.
