Hi,I've been wondering about this topic for a while now. I've been reading up articles saying that Mercury is exalted in Virgo--which may sound ridiculous since it is one of its home signs. But in traditional astrology, it IS its sign of exaltation as well. I know that planets cannot be exalted in their home signs, but as far as I've seen in astrology, there is ALWAYS exceptions. I've also been reading up on forums and yahoo answers that Mercury is exalted in Aquarius. It might be a common instinct for beginner astrologers to think this, but if you analyze both signs well enough, you'd find out why Mercury is exalted in its home sign. Virgo is a very analytical sign. Mercury in this sign makes a person's way of thinking very detailed, organized, and logical. People with this position are most likely to be intelligent people. They are always curious and they like to dig deep for information. Whereas in Aquarius, Mercury becomes innovative. Yes, people with this placement are also intelligent people but there is a difference. These people also tend to be know-it-alls, often overlooking the flaws in their theories and the things that they say. Virgo wants precise and accurate information while Aquarius likes original and unique information--it doesn't even matter if the information is not so accurate. I really think Mercury is exalted in Virgo because the qualities of Mercury blend very well with the sign. I'm not just saying this because I have this placement. If you think clearly enough, you'll see why this holds true. In greek mythology, Mercury is the messenger of the Gods. He relays information to them and he must make sure all the information he relays are correct. This applies to Mercury in Virgo as this placement gives a person the need to be precise in communicating and formulating ideas. Also, on a completely different topic, I think Gemini embodies the part of Mercury that gathers the information. Virgo embodies the part of Mercury that makes sure the information it gathers is accurate. Together, they make Mercury a very good communicator and messenger. What do you think?

I've read both Virgo and Aquarius. Traditionally, it's Virgo. IP: Logged |

Mercury is about concrete scientific thinking and reasoning. Something in which can be tested, not abstract like Uranus.Which is why Virgo is clearly the exalted sign. IP: Logged |

Uranus is about science too but it's connection is with discovery and it could have some bearing on genus classification systems. Uranus is a higher octave of Mercury. IP: Logged |

Yes, but it's more about abstraction. While Mercury is more concrete. I never said Uranus had noting to do with genius. Being a genius is seeing beyond what is concrete, and that is Mercury's higher octave, Uranus. IP: Logged |

I consider Uranus to be about classification. This is how I see Aquarius and house eleven. It's where humans put everything into little groups with common characteristics. It's also where societies emerge where members share common goals and characteristics. IP: Logged |

Thanks. Though it's not really mine. I found it on instagram. ------------------ Gemini Ascendant Sun in Leo Moon in Cancer Mercury in Virgo Venus in Virgo Mars in Libra "You were born a lion. Don't die a sheep." ~ Leos ♌️ IP: Logged |

I totally agree with you. Uranus is more of an idealistic planet.

Haha, I meant genus as in little groups, as in a species genus

Yes, that sounds like Aquarius/11th House/Uranus, but the classification part is Virgo for sure. To me, Virgo and Aquarius are the two scientists of the zodiac, (and maybe Gemini) but Virgo focuses on concretion, practicality, details and the logical scheme of things, while Aquarius goes beyond that and focuses on abstraction, ingenuity, bigger picture and universal mindset. Gemini is the journalist of Virgo and Aquarius. Writing down and spreading knowledge on all that the Virgo and Aquarius have set for Science. IP: Logged |

LOL, I assumed I seen the "i" in the word because I read too fast. I should have known because of the context, but we were talking about Uranus, so thinking you said "genius" in this context is an exception for an honest mistake. Haha. IP: Logged |

I agree with most only I see Aqua as categorizing more than Virgo. Virgo will break things down and figure out how something works or what it's made of or what's in a solution, for instance. Virgo can detect what ingredients are in a cake or take apart a piece of clothing and make another by figuring out the pattern. Aquarius is interested in finding a place for everything and common characteristics. This is how I see them, anyway. I think Aqua is also more into physics and invention. And I know that Virgo can be fascinated with maps and charts or is that my 3h Sag Mars? IP: Logged |

Oh I see what you're saying. Aquarius is looking for connections and labeling them that way, and Virgo is looking for differences and creating it's own specificity. I agree, except I think Virgo is more about Physics and Aquarius about inventions. Virgo just "gets" it. How things are supposed to work. Which is what Physics is. Now Theoretical Physics is Aquarius. Going beyond Physics. IP: Logged |

I like charts and maps too. And yes, I agree with you. Aquarius is more into inventing things and coming up with new original ideas while Virgo is more of like the scientist that experiments on how those ideas work.

Yes I agree with Virgos doing the physical work part. Pisces are like that too, from what I've seen except for my Aunt who has an Aqua Mercury. She writes rules for a living, completely abstract!IP: Logged |

I love writing the rules, too, lol. I feel like I embody the planet Uranus, but have no Aquarius placements. Probably not the genius part, but he whole personality associated with Uranus. IP: Logged |

She writes rules for the environment lol. What kind would you write? Maybe you should be a politician instead of scientist? You have Uranus in Cap that trines the sun, right? Funny thing is, I have Mercury conjunct Uranus and I like astronomy and maps. I am also good at life sciences like Biology and I like studying genetics. IP: Logged |

No, no. LOL. I feel like I am meant to do something with my life with Science. A scientist who writes the rules of the Universe. Well, writes them as in discovering them IP: Logged |
