^Those are not 100% accurate, as different websites say different elements and therefore, planets. This really makes no sense. However, the energies (Yin & Yang) are correct, and planet corresponding to the element is as well. IP: Logged |

I'm a Snake day sign, Monkey hour sign, and Horse by year. Personally I think the Snake relates more to Scorpio, and the Horse to Sag (literally and metaphorically) but maybe that's just me? Either way I do seem to relate and get along with Sags/Geminis and Taurus/Scorpios IP: Logged |

Hour: Rooster Day: Snake Month: Ox Year: RabbitWhat was the question again? quote: Do you relate to the traits of the Western sign that is the counterpart of your Chinese sign? Do you usually get along with people of that sign and feel an affinity towards them?
Yes I am very much like a Pisces. I like other Rabbits and other Pisces people. Then again I have a Pisces moon and this is to be expected. Sucks to be me, though...my Chinese ASC opposes my year sign. I tend to love Roosters, even though they hate me. I married a Rooster...he doesn't always hate me. Just sometimes. IP: Logged |

Snake is like no Western sign I can think of. Actually, I don't think any of the Chinese signs are exactly like their Western "counterparts." Rats are more talkative than Sags, Oxen are more hard-working than Capricorns, Tigers (well, the men at least) are more confrontational than Aquarians, and so on... IP: Logged |

Yeah, whatever sign it is you have, it will show it's natural energy. For Ex. - Everyone who is a Pig, would have Yin Pig energy, since the Pig is Yin, so it's automatic. As for Rooster, it is Yin, so it will show a Yin Rooster automatically. For your Year, you see this "- Earth Rooster" because the Rooster is Yin, not because yours is Yin for that year. Whenever the Rooster is involved, it will show "-" or "Yin" in front of it. IP: Logged |

So do you attract the signs your pillars say? What about your western chart? How does it stack up against your pillars? Completely different signs, compatible, or the same?

Well let's see... quote: Originally posted by Mercurian Intellect: My Four Chinese Astrology Pillars:Year - Wood Pig Month - Wood Roster Day - Metal Pig Hour - Metal Tiger Unique Element - Mountain-Top Fire
I have no idea about what Chinese signs I attract, as I never look for that. But I am around Rats and Pigs (Year) the most because they are my peers in school, so probably them by default. How about you? quote: Originally posted by Mercurian Intellect: For me, my Month is Rooster and Sun is Virgo. Year is Pig, Mars/Pluto is Scorpio. Day is Pig, so same applies. And Hour is Tiger, so Aquarius Descendant.I got the Aquarius Ascendant I always wanted! Well, sorta, lol. Because the Hour Chinese sign is the Ascendant equivalent.
My Chinese Ascendant (Tiger-Aquarius) is opposite my Western Ascendant. (Leo) Western Sun (Virgo) conjunct Chinese Month (Rooster-Virgo) It's funny because it's the month, too. It's like a double Virgo Sun. My Chinese Day and Year sign is Pig, so that's conjunct my Mars and Pluto in Scorpio. So my Chinese Year/Day is sextile my Month. Year/Day is square my Hour. Month is quincunx Hour. IP: Logged |

My inner companion sign is snake. Here's a link to compatibility: http://www.travelchinaguide.com/intro/social_customs/zodiac/compatibility.htm It does ring true. I get along best with oxen. My Uncle is a dragon and we don't fight or anything. It's just we don't have a relationship of any kind, lol. I'd say oxen for me personally. Oxen remind me somewhat of Taurus anyway and that's where my western moon is. Just about everyone I have known really well has been a rooster, born the same year as me. I notice on the chart, people born the same year get a long with each other. IP: Logged |

That's really interesting. I'm compatible with Sheep and Rabbit, (According to my Year/Day sign) but I will have to see if I get along best with those, now that I'm aware of it. IP: Logged |

Ah, here is the correct natural affinities. So apparently I was right! It looks like the Chinese Astrology Wheel goes clockwise, opposed to the Western Astrology Wheel, which goes counter-clockwise. IP: Logged |

Lol, you Virgo, you I changed it after... look at the post that listed everything, it says Dragon is Earth I would think Dragon is Wood, because in China, Dragons symbolize luck and the element Wood is ruled by Jupiter - the planet of luck. I would say I get along average. I think maybe a little better with people the same year on average, opposed to the Rat year. IP: Logged |

I'm a Dragon which I always thought was odd because it isn't me at all. If it is the equivalent of an Aries than that makes even less sense. If only I were an Aries my life would probably be a lot better. Since Dragon is earthy that makes a little sense... I think I am an earthy person...much more so than air (I am Libra sun). I was born in the year of the Horse (Gemini) and I have never felt like one. It all made sense when I found out about the four pillars and that people have a month, day, and hour sign too. I identify with my day sign the most which is Dragon (Aries). My Western natal chart is Fire dominant so probably that's why.IP: Logged |

Do you know the story of the Chinese Zodiac Sign? The story goes that a race was organised by the Jade Emperor - one of the most important gods in traditional Chinese religion - who invited all the animals in the world to take part. Twelve species turned up at the start line: a pig, dog, rooster, monkey, sheep, horse, snake, dragon, rabbit, tiger, ox and rat. As a reward for turning up, the Emperor named a year in the zodiac after each one, while the race would determine the order each animal would be placed. In first and second place The course included a huge river which every creature, large or small, had to cross. The wily rat made sure it won the race. The exhausted rat used its cunning to navigate the water by persuading the kindly ox to let it sit on its head as it crossed. Rather than say thank you on the other side, the rat made a dash for the finish with the ox not far behind. That’s why the rat is first creature in the cycle, followed by the ox. Third, fourth and fifth Not surprisingly, the tiger ran a good race but the current in the river sent it a little off-course. It recovered enough to cross the line behind the ox and so comes in at number three in the Chinese zodiac. Next up was the rabbit. Also tired by the race, it almost came a cropper in the river but saved itself on a floating log and got to shore to finish fourth. In fifth place is the only mythical creature on the calendar, the dragon. A kinder creature than legend suggests, it didn’t hesitate to divert from the race to extinguish a fire which was endangering the lives of some nearby villagers. Once it got back on course, it saw the rabbit struggling and used its breath to blow it safely to shore. The rabbit never learned who came to its aid while the dragon was content to finish behind it. The dragon isn't so fearsome as legend suggests. Numbers six and seven The horse wasn’t far behind the dragon and thought sixth place was in the bag. However, it hadn’t noticed that the snake was saving energy by wrapping itself around the horse’s leg to hitch a ride. With the finish line in sight, the snake uncoiled itself and frightened the horse enough to slither into sixth, leaving its carrier, the horse, to take seventh place. Finishing eighth, ninth and tenth Next up were the sheep, monkey and rooster and this is a perfect example of teamwork. The three piloted a small raft which would see them across the river safely. Once on the other side it was a dash for the finish. The sheep was first, followed by the monkey and then the rooster (in some parts of the world, the sheep is known as a goat), so they took slots eight, nine and ten respectively. The pig's appetite almost cost it a place in the zodiac. The final two Now we’re just left with the dog and the pig. Dog owners won’t be surprised that the playful hound was more interested in splashing about in the river rather than crossing it. This enabled the first 10 creatures to overtake it. It eventually ran over the line in 11th place. Which leaves the pig. The pig got peckish during the race. After stopping for food, it became sleepy and dozed off. It did wake up after a while and managed to make it over the line in last place. The Emperor had almost given up on it but was happy to assign it the final space in the zodiac. Why isn't there a Year of the Cat? So prevalent in Chinese culture (who doesn’t love a lucky waving cat?), why you may ask does the feline not feature in the zodiac? Well, that’s down to the rat. Although the pair were friends, the cat asked the rat to wake it up for the race as it had a habit of sleeping in. The rat was so excited, it forgot. By the time the cat woke up, it was far too late to enter. Hopefully, their friendship survived this most bitter of hiccups.
