Which one, in your experience is the most reliable, with more validations in real life couples? I noticed there are many differences and in my small experience Davidson showed me the REAL picture, while composite not so much. What do you think? :-)------------------ A Cap with SUN/VENUS/MERCURY n Capricorn, ARIES MOON AND ASC, LEO MARS AND SATURN AND GEMINI JUPITER. IP: Logged |

I totally agree with you! The accuracy of midpoint composites has been exaggerated. IP: Logged |

Im leaning towards Davidson too.Since I think it was a lot more accurate than the composite chart which was very meh... Before the davidson I thought composites were hit or miss. IP: Logged |

I'm all for Composite. When looking in comparison to real life scenarios, it fits more.------------------ " Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. It's Davison, not Davidson. They show different things, so using that perspective I don't think one is more accurate than the other. Ceridwen explained the differences to me not so long ago in this thread (scroll down the thread): http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/224165.html IP: Logged |

They don't show different things. They're both supposed to show the themes that manifest in a relationship. They use different techniques is all, and in my opinion the Davison gets it right more often than the midpoint comp does.IP: Logged |

True, they both show the "themes that manifest in a relationship." But like most things in astrology, there are differing interpretations. To me, if you believe the astrologers who think that the Davison is "more about outside forces working on the relationship, while the composite is about the combined energies," then they show different things. Certainly, it's the only way I can make any sense of why the charts can be so different from each other.

synastry is the combined energies of two people lol. Since both natal charts are interacting with each other.IP: Logged |

I would say Davison. It fits my relationships more. I look at a composite and most of it doesn't seem right. Then I see a Davison and it clicks with what I already thought of the relationship.IP: Logged |

Of course. You might want to read the whole thread I linked to above. As I'm sure you know, "combined energy" in the composite is a reference to the midpoints, not the aspects of one person's natal to another, as in synastry.

The charts are different because the techniques are different. I think we're hearing some astrologers say that Davison vs midpoint composite show different things in a not very convincing effort to explain away that difference. The only thing that matters in the end is results. Which chart gives a more accurate view of the themes in a relationship? That's the one you should be using.

The composite highlights the angular relationships as they occur in the natal and the synastry. The Davison does not do such thing. While it is true they are charts of the relationships and on first glance seem to be different just in terms of their calculation (true), the fact that the composite is a mirror of existing angular relationships in the basc charts, and the DAvison is not, needs to be considered.
As for one chart is more acurate than the other often is dependent on the perspective of the observer more than anything.
in my preliminary opinion (and that one can change again) the composite highlights themes, derived from the natals and synastry, and as such can help finding a "red thread".
The Davison however seems to more depict the "mystical Third" (something that has been used as definition for the composite, too, which I think is plainly the wrong term; nothing mystical aobut the composite; anything`s just pure mathematics), which can be very different from what the individual people bring into the relationship, on the basis of their natals. That is why I called the Davison having a more "fated" meaning (though it is a bit of a dumb expression I admit). It is out of our control, something gets born between two people, that they maybe do not even want. "I am peaceful, you are peaceful (natal parallel aspect of Moon conjunct Venus for example); we love each other dearly (DW of Sun-Venus-harmonious aspect) and yet, when we are in the same room, we want to rip each other`s throats out (Mars square Uranus, Pluto, Sun or Moon in Davison)." I've been working with composite for a while. It took me very long to figure karmic links. Literally took several looks at natal to natal, composite to natal, draconic to natal...(argh).In Davison, it just pops. I'm guessing composite shows how the relationship is as a whole, being just the two. Davison includes what you call, the unforeseeable and external factors. I'm also guessing Davison would show how the relationship manifests at the initial stage because it feels fated....but eventually it settles more towards composite. Composite would show who works more towards keeping the relationship. Just throwing out a speculation. Delilah423 and Ceridwen would know more about it than I do. IP: Logged |

In composites, you need to ceck the aspects to/between midpoints too , they often tells what might not be flat out obvious in the "visible" aspects.IP: Logged |

I really don't understand. I have a composite that shows difficulties and a Davison that show some dificulties yes but also show the bright parts and the strong emotional tie these two persons have. It may be that the composite shows the external factors that may interfere and the davison shows the relationship as a separate being...
