quote: The Splash Pattern (page 314 in You and the Universe and shown above) occurs when planets occupy at least eight out of 12 signs or houses, spread rather evenly or “splashed” around the entire chart. An ideal Splash Pattern would contain five equispaced oppositions and no conjunctions, although you can have as many as two conjunctions and still have a splash pattern. The Splash most frequently occurs when the Sun, Mercury and Venus are in different signs and houses. And if one pair of planets in the chart is separated by at least 54° (sextile) and another pair by at least 82° (square), then the pattern is probably an Hourglass or Seesaw. This relatively rare astrological pattern symbolizes a well-balanced nature with the broadest of interests, allowing you to integrate a number of apparently unrelated things in a meaningful way. You have the potential to do many things well, the ability to find order in apparent confusion, and are a genius of versatility. Since you can have your fingers in so many pies, you may feel that you can deal with any situation that comes along. Marc Edmund Jones, who originated the concept of planetary patterns, called the Splash Pattern the “prototype universal citizen.” As with the grand cross, the downside of having such a wide range of abilities and experiences is the difficulty of focusing on any one goal. So beware of wasting your talents through being too diffuse or scattered. If you are able to master your diverse interests, you may be able to achieve an exalted or universal perspective of yourself within the cosmos. For that reason, esoteric astrologers see most Splash Patterns as being in an advanced position on the wheel of reincarnation. Famous people with a Splash Pattern are Theodore Bikel, Marlon Brando, Leo Buscaglia, Nina Foch, George Harrison, Gil Hodges, Henry Mancini (all 10 signs), Bernadette Peters, Theodore Roosevelt and Sarah Vaughan.
http://www.myastrologybook.com/splash-planetary-pattern-astrology.htm I have a splash chart (nine planets in different signs) and yes, it cheered me up this morning to discover that I am a "prototype universal citizen." If only I could reach light speed and meet everyone else out there! At least, with my scattered interests, I have the potential to be a "greeter" to all the aliens. Anyway... Do you have this kind of chart? If so, do you find the reading above accurate? --- Famous people with splash charts: Elvis Presley George Clooney Eckhart Tolle Steve Jobs Bob Marley Morgan Freeman Wayne Gretzky Louise Hay Marcus Aurelius Esther (Abraham) Hicks Bill Watterson IP: Logged |

"The Splash Pattern occurs when planets occupy at least eight out of 12 signs or houses." Does 9 planets in different signs in 7 houses count as a splash pattern?IP: Logged |

My placements are spread upon 10 houses, leaving only the 5th and 8th houses empty. I also have placements in 11 signs, leaving only Virgo out. But I have 4 conjunctions.. So would that mean I'm not a splash candidate? lolIP: Logged |

Maybe this will help you decide if you have a splash chart or not: quote: As indicated by its name, this planetary pattern displays an even scattering of the ten planets throughout the Zodiac (from Mercury to Pluto, and the luminaries, namely the Sun and the Moon). There is continuity in the planets' distribution. The maximum distance between any two planets is of three signs, or 90 degrees.
Says astrotheme. I'm not a splash expert but when I see a chart like mine, I recognize it very easily. Looks like a spirograph drawing. Example:

I'm jealous! I'm a bucket- the handle is Jupiter though. Edit: I might actually be a bowl since Jupiter is kind of close to the rim planet but not within 12 degrees of it. IP: Logged |

I agree to an extent. Am not well organised but I'm interested in almost anything. And changed courses and colleges often when studying ... Later it turned out extra bits I'd learnt before came in handy. Same with jobs ... Worked in so many different environments that there's usually something can refer back to even in a new setting. I do get a lot of associations and from disparate sources which is good creatively. Often feel like I'm walking around a mountain in a spiral, taking in a big vista but gathers to a point. I.e is time consuming to learn so much but then so much more to draw on. It cheered me up too. I was getting bored of my chart shape earlier IP: Logged |

@Bella~ Jupiter for a bucket handle is enviable and again...no wonder you seem fiery.@florence~ Somewhere in my heart of hearts I think I had an inkling that you are splashy. Just from the breadth of your comments, if that makes any sense. Have you posted your chart anywhere before? I don't even know your sun sign. And I wanted to change my major and college, too, but I had "difficulty of focusing on any one goal" (the goal of leaving.) I love this: quote: Often feel like I'm walking around a mountain in a spiral, taking in a big vista but gathers to a point. I.e is time consuming to learn so much but then so much more to draw on.
--- So far we have four splash chart people here? Not bad for one of the rarest kinds of charts. I just hope the thread doesn't get too crowded or I'll feel less special. j/k Hope to meet more splashy types, I've been wondering who else is in the club. IP: Logged |

Planets in 11 houses! I guess you're counting Chiron? Do you count Ceres and Eris? I have no planets in my 1st, 2nd, and 10th houses. ETA: or 7th. IP: Logged |

*raises hand* I have it.In my chart, only Uranus and Saturn are in the same sign. 8 of 12 houses occupied by planets. Only my 5th and 7th aren't occupied, if you consider NN and Chiron. I can do two things at once, but focusing on one is hard for me. My mind is scattered and I'm easily bored. I can relate to a wide range of people, even when they can't relate to one another. It's very rare for me to not have a common interest with someone. IP: Logged |

Actually does make sense faith .. As maybe I pick that up with you too - from your posts I feel like you mentally stand back and are drawing from a lot of experiences and sifting them. Although I'm not sure I do have a splash chart now. I have 8 different houses occupied but there are still conjunctions. Maybe I'm a bowl IP: Logged |

I just plugged this chart in as it was available. I have 3, 4, 12 empty. Am I bowl then? I tried to check patterns but I couldn't work out which one I'd be IP: Logged |

Thank you for posting your chart, florence! I love your moon-Neptune conjunction. Your moon and Mercury are more than 90 degrees apart, so your chart isn't technically a splash, at least not according to astrotheme's criteria. And you're not a locomotive because the moon and Mercury aren't quite 120 degrees apart. My guess is, "asymmetrical pattern": quote: They are impossible to classify. They resemble the splash pattern, although they translate into more typical and less generalist characters. The native is often a real chameleon. They are quite frequent, although not as much as the locomotive pattern.[/b]
Link I can see the chameleon in you...and I like chameleons! They give this chart for an example and it does kinda match yours:

Perceptive! Yes that's a good description of what's going on in my mind. Plus my age affords me some objectivity. Glad someone noticed, thank you.

Thanks for explaining. My SN is in my 10th, so if you count that, I have three empty houses: 1,2, and 7. IP: Logged |

Nope, a bowl is contained within an opposition, or close to that, but not covering more than a 180 degree span. It's the 2nd most condensed pattern.

Thx I like that conjunction the best too it has got me thinking that maybe chart patterns are more significant than I had thought, if it is coming across in some manner. Well, better excuse myself from this splash club  but not before doing an asymmetric dance. Thanks for helping me out with that as I never would have got it. IP: Logged |

I think they are important. But the drama about splash versus asymmetrical seems a bit over the top. quote: Originally posted by florence: Well, better excuse myself from this splash club  but not before doing an asymmetric dance.
That's funny to imagine...like half your body is swaying around the other half is dragging. If everyone dances like that in your club, I'm jealous I can't attend. IP: Logged |
