Back in 2008, there was a post by Glaucus on LL that talked about Fibonacci or Golden Section Yods. This should not be confused with the quintile/biquintile Golden Yod which is also highly significant in both Astrology and Sacred Geometry. To avoid confusion, I will refer to the Yods that I am talking about here as Fibonacci yods. They were first put forward by Dr. Theodor Landscheidt and are based on golden section aspects that seem to work – the basic Fibonacci Aspects he proposed are : 21.25°, 42.49°, 47.51°, 68.75°, 111.25°, 132.49°, 137.51° and 158.75°,34.38°, 55.62°, 124.38° and 145.62°. http://bourabai.narod.ru/landscheidt/consider.htm the orbs should only be 1 degree. After ploughing through his highly technical gobbledegook, I have tried to get a grip on what it could mean astrologically in simple terms. Landscheidt proposes (and provides mathematical theory) that the stability of planetary paths hinges on fivefold symmetry which is traditionally thought to only apply to the realm of biology (living things). This contributes mathematical evidence to the theory that planetary bodies are alive. Non-biological forms like crystals never show five fold symmetry, it’s always two, three, four or six. After years of having his theories ignored, solar physicists from the American Astronomical Society are now giving support to Landscheit’s theories too . http://tallbloke.wordpress.com/2011/06/14/solar-physicists-finally-get-the-message-landscheidt-was-right-after-all/ What this seems to mean to us is that Fibonacci’s golden ratio aka the irrational number PHI 0.618 OR 0.382 rounded off(which is phi in the opposite phase 1-0.618) is a ratio that can be applied to planetary dynamics in astrology. The golden aspects are worked out by multiplying the 360 degree by 0.618 or 0.382 and then applying the result to the angles of the horoscope. i.e. 0 + (360*0.382) = 137.51 deg; 90+(360*0)= 227.51 deg (actually 132.49 deg as we don’t use aspects over 180 deg but rather go counterclockwise and minus from 360). Etc. Using these calculations you will find all the “golden aspects” stated above which correspond to the Fibonacci golden ratio in astrological terms. Now, if you take the logic that the Fibonacci sequence describes a universal pattern of continuous balanced development which occurs throughout nature in the branching of trees, the shape of seashells, horns of rams, arrangements of petals, etc – then you may accept that a Fibonacci or “golden aspect” represents harmony with the fundamental expression of universal (or divine) law, the spiralling currents of which weave the fabric of creation. In astrology, these aspects seem to be significant when they form closed geometric configuration – especially a Fibonacci Yod – ie. Where three Fibonacci Golden Ratio Aspects form an isosceles triangle with a less than 1 deg orb. (the sum of the three aspect angles adds up to 360 deg). It would seem to indicate that these three planets, when combined, have the capacity to harmonize in accordance with divine law. There is an example in my chart of a Yod using Fibonacci Aspects which involves Jupiter, Moon and Pluto – two 145.62 aspects closed by one 68.75. As in all yods, it is the apex planet (in this case Jupiter in Aries in the 12th house) that is the focal planet, to and from which inspiration flows, after drawing in the support of the two base planets. Also there are some other closed configurations (scalene and trapezoid looking things)using Golden Ratio aspects only but I have no idea what they mean, except they makes a pretty geometric pattern. I have blocked visibility to the planets that are not involved in this particular piece of planetary geometary, so that it stands out better.

yep, that is a Golden Yod (quintile series), not a Fibonacci Yod.The Golden (Quintile series) yods are very cool though. They bring amazing ingeniuty, creativity and inventiveness to the configuration. Magical. More active than a grand trine, as Golden Yods are focused more on "growing" than "flowing". The Fibonacci Yods I was talking about above are different - they are about attunement with unfolding universal laws. IP: Logged |

VERY interesting, thank you! Have you calculated those by hand? It would be awesome to have an actual software for "golden ratio" aspects.------------------

I suppose they would give high chakra activation, synchronization, synchronicity, and "paranormal" gifts and exceptional talents in certain areas, perhaps indicated by the config.------------------ I seem to have loved you in numberless forms... IP: Logged |

You are welcome! I didn't calculate by hand - I did my usual "cheat" for weird aspects by using Astrolog (free download) software and substituting conventional aspect degrees in the settings with different ones and changing the orb to 1 deg. It works great! Also a good trick to use for aspects like quindeciles - change one of the obscure aspect setting like quatranovile from 160 degs to 165 - and then read all the QNv aspects as quindeciles. I'm still trying to understand yods. All i know so far is that I have a golden yod: Sun/Venus in 2H, Scorpio quintile Saturn in 4H, Capricorn, biqintile Mars in 9H, Gemini - quintile sun/venus Rebuttal? IP: Logged |
