LOL @ the part-time girlfriend thing. Yes I caught it before you edited it (oh, Selenite, I hope you see this) I think the combination of Venus sq. Uranus and Jupiter is extremely telling. Over indulgence in love (sq. Jupiter) and sq Uranus, obviously, giving the unconventionality in love. Awesome that you went from "one too plenty" to happy committed fella! So you only have the sq. to Neptune? What else? IP: Logged |

Yes, The willpower thing. It's like once I set my eye on someone, their mine until I have them. Yup yup yup. I have to be *very* careful with keeping my friends/acquaintances at a far enough distance to not let that obsessive attraction take over. I do have a friend (I've posted about him on LL a few times) that I am attracted to and sometimes if I know I'm going to see him, I get physically sick from the nervousness of it because I can't express my feelings towards him. It's like trying to bottle up a volcano sometimes. However, as I said in an earlier post, my hubby & I discussed the poly thing and he gave me a very firm "no way in hell" type of response. He's a very good long-term partner to have, so my brain and analytical side took over and once I weighed pros/cons of getting married to him, it made sense to partner up. So I did. I want to add here that I'm 36, but I didn't come "out" with being poly until I was 32. It wasn't until after my Saturn return when I had gone through a terrible separation & divorce that I really started evaluating myself. My ex-husband cheated on me and I told him after we broke up that it wasn't about the sex, it was about the lies (and there were MANY). When you think your husband of seven years is being faithful, you don't use any protection against STDs. I was lucky to not get one and he's lucky he didn't get one either. That's why lying and cheating are so bad to me, because it jeopardizes my health. When I later got into a poly relationship, my ex-husband was livid. He was mad because he didn't know we could have had that. I told him we couldn't have though because he was too insecure/jealous and he would have wanted his ladies without me having any fun at all. Both partners have to be very secure and not possessive. That is when it works. It works well for me and I'd be open to it again if my partner ever changes his mind (not likely). ------------------ “Most people would rather be sheep than stand on their own with antlers on.” IP: Logged |

I honestly think Venus sq. Jupiter plays a big role in this... I'm not sure what asteroids would be applicable but if you know any, please do check. I will do the same. IP: Logged |

I'm going to analyze my friends (my ex-gf and ex-bf, they are a poly couple). It never occurred to me to ever do so before, but this is interesting. ------------------ “Most people would rather be sheep than stand on their own with antlers on.” IP: Logged |

For my venus, that's it. Square to Neptune. Astro.com says conjunct Mercury, but it's 9 degrees. IP: Logged |

Awwww thanks! And androgynous, yes. Even before I started shaving my head or being crazy with my hair (half shaved, mowhawks, etc.), people would come into my work and say, "excuse me sir" until I spoke and then they were very embarrassed. Others would be very mean and yell things at me like bulldyke or butch... which doesn't offend me because it speaks more of them than me. ------------------ “Most people would rather be sheep than stand on their own with antlers on.” IP: Logged |

Clearly I'm talking about cases such as in my example not the poor women in the street who's husband is cheating and she can't leave because she won't eat.
There is cheating and then there is the type of behavior as in my example. Mrs Mitterand was not going to be living on the streets if she left her husband. I guess I miss spoke with my sentence. It's true that the poor woman in the street not leaving does not mean consent. What I mean is that these types of marital "arrangement" have been around for a long long time. People just didn't talk about them openly. It's just trendy to be "poly".

Whoa no it's not! You have no idea what it is to come out with something like that because society doesn't accept that. Society makes it dirty like porn or like something of a fetish. Religious people see it as sinful (many of these religious people cheat on their spouses but I digress...). My ex-bf was born into a VERY religious family and what he does is still very much in the closet and he's 38 years old. My step-dad knows, but no one else in my family (not my cousins, uncles, etc.) because they are religious and super judgmental. I would not say it's trendy by any stretch of the imagination. :/

Sure maybe in the deep south and in the fundamentalist religious communities of the US it's not really trendy to be poly. But that's not the world I live in. But in the world of people who are open, liberal and liberated, that is the new thing. Poly is the new bi... Last decade everyone who was open and liberal was bi. This decade everyone is poly. Ok, ex-bf first: Packed 5th house with Moon, Mercury, Pluto, Mars and Sun. All but Mercury fall in Libra (Mercury is in Virgo). We both have Uranus in Scorpio and we both have a Venus/Mars conjunction. His Venus(Libra) is also conjunct Uranus(Scorpio) & his Moon(Libra). He has Uranus square MC, mine is opposite (but both of us have a Uranus aspect to the MC) Something I find interesting -- but probably unrelated -- he & I share Jupiter in 12H. EDIT: Composite: Uranus in 5th house & heavily aspected (Moon, Venus, Jupiter, ascendant and Mercury all in aspect with Uranus here) ------------------ “Most people would rather be sheep than stand on their own with antlers on.” IP: Logged |

I still disagree. The struggles for people with ANY type of alternative lifestyle are evident, even in Seattle & Portland (much more open & liberal cities). Sure, I can find more people like me, but it doesn't make the general population more accepting. I can't even IMAGINE living in the south. :/ ------------------ “Most people would rather be sheep than stand on their own with antlers on.” IP: Logged |

See, the issue with these kind of marital arrangements is that the wife would be divorced at the snap of a finger if she desired the same kind of deal her husband received. It happens against her will, most of the time. Mrs. Mitterrand is a specific example of this kind of arrangement. I doubt it was the same with JFK. I'm sure Jackie O knew about his numerous affairs but she also played the role of good, happy, stylish First Lady quite well. Some women would rather dodge the scandal and shame that comes with the public finding out about their husbands extra-marital affairs than protect their own dignity by leaving such a marriage. So much politics involved in this... It doesn't compare to the guy I know and his wife and how they live their life. It's just different. I don't think polyamory is trendy at all. It's dynamics can be very problematic on a societal plane. It's not as simple as people think. Luckily I had someone to explain it quite thoroughly to me Thanks for engaging in this discussion with me though. No hard feelings, at all... IP: Logged |

That's EXTREMELY telling. All those aspects to Uranus in the 5th. Amazing! I wish I knew my friend's wife's information so I could check their composite.

I did misspeak above when i said there was "tacit consent". I don't think Mrs. Mitterand would have left. I think she was OK with it. JFK and say Bill Clinton are different issues. Berlusconi (as i mentioned above also) is also a different story which now makes that fact that he and Mitterand didn't have more similar aspects/placements less surprising. I think looking at Mitterand's chart for something like 'poly' and Berlusconi for just a big old cheat(!) would be interesting. I guess in instances where say some royal marries another royal for more like a "business transaction" so to speak, they kind just decided to separate love vs "the relationship", which I suppose also supports your point that it's not really "polyamory". (Damn LIbra Mars! I even talk myself out of my own point!! :P) quote: Originally posted by Geeky: I still disagree. I don't think I said it was "generally accepted". It just seems in the liberal circles it's the thing to do these days. Even here on LL poly gets talked about quite easily. I don't see too many people acting shocked. People were more shocked on a thread about a specific sex act, IIRC. Unless I missed it. There was even a TV show not too long about this. What was it called "Big Love" or something. And no. I can't imagine living in the deep south either. Though I'd look good in a pick up truck and cowboy boots. LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DF BEING IMMATURE AND CRACKING JOKES?!?!??!?! YASSSSSSS HAHAHAHA! I was thoroughly surprised and amused by this actually. Wow, Uranus is pretty active! No but you have nice Uranus aspects. In combo with Gem Moon, super fun! You also have pretty decent Saturn aspects too. Uranus conjunct NN, maybe the the non-conventionality is yet come! I read about this aspect. Very interesting stuff. Perhaps that could also explain why you said you find Aquarius hard to understand... IP: Logged |

shoot.... that's nothing. I am normally just.... in another dimension most of the time with some of the crazy things that I say, and DO. Just voices and how I say things even. It's a multidimensional crazy. LOL On topic... Though not contributing much of anything. Just to be on topic. An ex-gf's dad and step mom were in a poly relationship. They were kind of like, "the king and queen" but they had a woman who lived with them and was very much a part of every aspect of their relationship. She was one of them, part of the family. I've been trying to remember their first names though and I can't. I was going to FB stalk them just to see if I can get a birthday or two but no luck yet. IP: Logged |

Hopefully I'll get to see that side unveil itself a bit more hahaha! That would be cool if you can also manage to get their birthdates. Just to build up some data on this... I am queen of derailing and going off on tangents. I love conversation so much that I welcome it in all shapes and forms. Thanks for the grounding, Virgo
