This tread is really interesting. I don't believe in a fatalistic approach. But I believe some negative interpretations of the degrees are just potentials...it doesn't mean we are violent or liars for example. It can be mean though that if we don't follow a good path we can fall into such flaws. Or be the victims of them.I hope I wasn't confusing LOL. Well, for me astrology is like a road map for life but with effort and our free will we can conteract negative influences. Have a great night everyone :-)) IP: Logged |

I'm sorry this thread has derailed completely. My saying of gender example was that when a baby is born a boy, for example, it has a penis and anatomically and medically defined as male. When that baby learns to speak and express what he think is another matter and this day and age, you can be anything with hormone replacement treatment, surgery etc but the fact is.... the baby was born a boy and nobody can change about that. Equally, if you were born blind, lets say.... there is no freewill in there. It's not like hair color we can change from one month to the next. However, fate can be changed in that 'emptiness' space if you know how to access it. That's where all possibilities exists...beyond human beliefs.

It's not cissexist to acknowledge biology. Just like it's not heresy to acknowledge that Earth isn't the center of the universe. It's science. Also gender/=/sex. Someone can change their gender, but they can't change their DNA, which is what defines their sex. IP: Logged |

I've thought about it and thought about it some more. Maybe I did jump the gun. Maybe I thought that I saw some ~grave~ injustice that I felt I needed to speak on (natal Mercury retrograde). (But isn't that what Arians do best? Act first, realize the consequences later?) Then my more ~knowledgeable-than-thou~ side saw an opportunity to shine only to show how little I actually knew. I let my emotions and false sense of pride get the best of me and made of fool of myself. I would just chalk it up to my age and being young but that's really no excuse. I know all this just seems like a big excuse but this is actually an apology. I'm sorry to OP for derailing your thread asking an innocuous question about fatalism in astrology. I apologize for attacking people on here for literally no reason and probably with an air of intellectual superiority. Basically I'm sorry for starting drama when there wasn't the need for none. So...peace. IP: Logged |

Yeah, that was just a hot mess. Sorry for all that. It's really embarrassing now. :/ I can't even look at what I wrote anymore even though I kept replaying in my head these past couple of days. Apologizing just seemed like the right thing to do at this point, and I promise that it was sincere. IP: Logged |

Well to be fair he was being kind of a cissexist.
But what midnightvenus said was true. On the other hand, I think it's kind of ironic how everything I post ablazes Maybe it's just my 8th house? XD IP: Logged |

Lol. So this is common then? That kinda sucks. XD I mainly use the equal house system so I don't have anything in the 8th so I can't really relate (although my Pluto r is in the 8th when I use the whole house system). But I'm glad that things are sort of cleared up between us now and you kinda saw where I was coming from (again that natal Mercury retrograde). Because if a person says that a person who is “born” X or Y sex and gets surgery and they say they’re still an X or Y, that’s cissexism. They’re invalidating trans identities with their biological essentialism. The other person is wrong too because sex is not assigned by your DNA or chromosomes or whatever; it’s mainly assigned via what your genitals look like. A better example of fate would have been being born into a poor family. You can’t change the circumstances from which you were born into but it is very possible, albeit very hard, to change them in the future. But both take individual and collective choices (free will) and systems and situations that are out of your control (fate) to get there.
