I have been researching it regarding children and boy does it ring true. My daughter is very unique and independent. Very smart also. Can't keep anything from her. I was also never married to her father and we are no longer together.

My daughter is very mature also. I do think that I treat her as a friend too. Not sure if that is good or bad. My parents tell me not too, but it seems normal to me.

I tell mine that until they're grown I'm a parent first and a friend second... I have a job to do raising them and if my decisions make me unpopular, too bad. lol
I allow and tell them things that other parents may not with their kids but the way I see it part of my job is to prepare them for the real world, not fantasyland.
Age appropriate of course.

Both have changed a lot since I came into their lives. As a simple way to put it the boy makes me think of Harry Potter and the girl as Hermione Granger in temperament. Both are intelligent, the girl especially so (and wants to be a biologist of some kind or a doctor), and both are also athletic (especially the boy, he's turning into a real jock).

I'm close to them and they share a lot with me but I practice what most closely resembles authoritative parenting (NOT to be confused with authoritarian). There usually isn't a problem (I'm actually surprised at how few problems there have been and don't dare hope that it will continue to be such smooth sailing as the boy gets older) and I'm quite frank when answering questions, some would say too frank, and I also show them how to get answers on their own in case they don't want to ask me.

It's remarkable how we can relate and yet they were so different from me as a child. Back when I was their age I did not relate to such kids at all (and that has perplexed me at times on how to handle certain things) and yet they both have confidence and are smart. They're both leaders, at least of their own group, and it's not that they go around making people obey, it's more people gravitate around them and follow their lead.

There are some interesting differences/similarities between us astrologically speaking, especially me and the girl (who called me and it's because of her I'm in their lives). For example, I have a Sag Mars & moon and Libra Pluto, but she has a Libra Mars & moon and Sag Pluto. I wonder if it has anything to do why she called me for help one day though she barely knew me (she only had my number because her mom had it recorded in her phone).
