I have been researching this on and off for a while and nearly all of the information out there is contradictory..Some say it is a minor, hard aspect, as the two energies to not natural flow smoothly... Some say it is a gift that must be worked towards to uncover... Some say that it is like a weak sextile.. I am mostly interested in hearing how you've seen it play out either in charts that you've read on in your own life! I have Venus in Aries semisextile my Sun in Pisces <3 IP: Logged |

I have a few and I was totally blown away. In my case they really show up in my personality. IP: Logged |

Thank you for your response! Can I ask, based on your experiences with your own semi-sextiles, how you would interpret a Venus/Sun semisextile? IP: Logged |

I think all aspects that add up to 180 degrees have a similar sort of effect. Two squares make up 180 degrees, trine and sextile add up, and the semi-sextile's counterpart is the quincunx, which is usually described as a constant adjustment. Semi-sextile is often described as flowing because it describes the 'missing piece' to the quincunx. That's how I think of it. IP: Logged |

Are they not always active? I read that somewhere and am not sure what exactly it means. I'll be honest. this thread is entirely motivated by the fact that I'm feeling very insecure right now and looking for some type of astrological confirmation that I am decent looking.
My venus is locked away in my 8th... The only thing I have is the semisextile to the sun (which is my chart ruler). i am wondering if it means much.. lol :/ IP: Logged |

It is not a 'weak sextile', but more like a quincunx, a conclusion arrived at independently by a fellow astrologer, Fred Bickum. So I consider it like a quincunx (requiring adjustment, often simultaneous with accidents, health matters in prog), but not as strong. Not a major aspect. The best way to see the nature of semi-sextiles play out is when they are applying within 0°05' of exact, exact 00°, and separating within 0°05' of exact. A way of describing it is that it can require one to take a jig-step, to break stride or rhythm to maintain balance. ------------------ The Declinations Guy Modern professional astrology & rectification IP: Logged |

I guess that's why some astrologers refer to both as inconjunct. I have Venus semisextile Uranus, 0.00 orb. Love-hate relationship with weirdos. IP: Logged |

You're pretty! You don't need astrology for that...

Thank you love. Sometimes I just feel so insecure and I want something logical and concrete to tell me that I'm alright IP: Logged |

I think they are VERY important in synastry and composite if the angles are involved IME. Since there are 12 houses/signs and semisextiles come from the 12th harmonic I feel they are under estimated and so are inconjunctions which I feel are super significant and a force to be reckon with. I thought a tight Semi-Sextile operates much like a regular Sextile; though, I like the bit about working towards uncovering a gift.I have Sun Semi-Sextile Neptune (0°24) and Saturn (2°23). I'm Capricorn-dominant, so it's difficult to discern the Saturn Semi-Sextile, but the Neptune Semi-Sextile is certainly evident in my life. People often project their **** onto me or say that I look familiar to them. Innocent mistakes have turned into my baring the brunt of all that has gone wrong in a person's life. I hear, "You should be an actor," a lot, which is nice since I'm heading down that road anyway. I'm an empath as well, but that could be more the Moon than Sun. Are you involved in the arts, @missblyss?

Yes, I am very artsy. I love design and creating! I don't know what to attribute that to, cause I'm also very neptunian and uranian! I do feel that it has some impact, it actually is the one sun aspect that adds accuracy to my father's description. My dad is very kind, always wants to please. I've always wondered why astrologers have never accurately picked up on my father's energy... most of them get it totally wrong! I think incorporating the Venus influence seems to be the missing piece of the puzzle. IP: Logged |

here is a cool description i just found "As mentioned above, semi-anything means the aspect isn’t always active but when it is, it’s felt. For example, a Sun Semi-Square Venus can go to the spa every month but not pamper themselves until then. So Billy can understand a Sun Semi-Square Venus native because although he is loved, feels attractive, is good with his money, etc… it’s not always — on & off and because of that when he’s ‘off’ it’s like having a semi-square!!" - See more at: http://blog.virgovault.com/2011/11/01/natal-aspects-sun-semi-square-square-venus/#sthash.LfRb7NS4.dpuf IP: Logged |
