I use both Astrodienst and Astrotheme for different reasons but what do you do when they don't match up?I have found that Astrotheme will pick up aspects that Astrodienst has missed, i.e. planets look unaspected in an Astrodienst chart meanwhile they aren't when you run it in Astrotheme. Likewise, sometimes I find that Astrotheme will miss the obvious (like a 4 degree Sun-Venus conjunction in a composite chart) whereas Astrodienst will show it. I'd say 95% of the charts I see on this site are generated with Astrodienst. What if they're wrong? For example, a chart I'm doing in Astrotheme shows a 5 degree trine between Sun and Venus and Astrodienst doesn't pick this up, even going so far as to say the Sun is completely unaspected when Astrotheme shows there's actually 3 aspects to the Sun from Venus, Mars and Mercury. And for the record the orbs were not adjusted in Astrodienst. IP: Logged |

I'm not sure Astro dienst counts 5 degree orbs for aspects such as trines... But I vote astrodienst for their extended chart selection feature! Great range of charts.. Also, the interactive composite, with explanations side-by-side, is great for beginners. IP: Logged |

I prefer Astrotheme because I like the design much more (I can't help it!), and, in my case, I don't see many discrepancies with Astro. As a newbie, I found Astrotheme less intimidating, but I always check both, one thing that I like about Astro is that it has more asteroids and you can choose which ones to show, in Astrotheme the transits and Solar Returns charts are not as customizable. One thing that I don't like is that none of them have my actual birthplace, I have to pick up the closest town, I'd be nice if I could enter the coordinates. ------------------ Gemini Rising. I'm fairly new to chart reading, but I often use Astrodiesnt. Exactly, the extended chart selection is a big plus! Besides I like reading charts in Liz Greene style, I find this style very useful while simple.IP: Logged |

Astrotheme is kinda wonky when it comes to calculating properly. This is why sometimes the two websites will give you totally different ascendants for one person even when you use the same birth data.In short Astrodienst is more accurate. Plus Astrodienst tends to actually double check the birth times in their celebrity database. Astrotheme will go with whatever anyone submits as a birth time. IP: Logged |

Would you trust the degrees/orbs that Astrodienst calculates? As in, if Astrotheme does say there is an aspect between the Sun and Venus/Mercury/Mars let's say, then in reality there probably isn't or it shouldn't be counted? IP: Logged |

Astrodienst does use wide orbs, that's true. I never paid much attention to the orbs at Astrotheme. Even so, there's ways at Astrodienst of changing the orbs so that anything you consider to be too wide of an orb, doesn't show up in your results. In "Extended Chart Selection", it's under the "Options" category : "Reduce/increase orbs" IP: Logged |

I use astrotheme for different features, for example it shows the meaning of the placement (according to sign and house) of a planet, its easier to read, and i get a personified horoscope, it's a great tool to help you understand a chart, while astrodienst gives you a wide range of tools if you've mastered the basics of a chart (such as adding the asteroids of your choice, so many types of charts could be generated..etc). So it's really depending on what i have in mind.IP: Logged |

Definitely astrodienst purely for the reason you can play around with the charts and include all stars and asteroids, plus you can look it at it from a fixed star perspective.------------------ Correlations of ancient astronomy and astrology. IP: Logged |

However if you give me coordinates I can create and name place anything you want (Pixie Born Here) date and time of course and I will post here. Could do a few if you want,I can just remove after you have copied and saved. I cannot show asteroids (on wheel) other than Ceres,Pallas,Juno,Vesta. I also have Chiron, ISIS-TRANSPLUTO and the other 8 hypotheticals. Sadly my programs choice for BML and Priapus are not h21 and h22 which I think are critical but you can get that from astrodienst. I guess you just need to have one with correct ascendant, MC, vertex, EA, PA, CA AND Pars fortune as only they will change with small change in location. I 'll bookmark thread this time, check back 2 see if u caught this
Anything will be much appreciated as I'm completely new to all this. My data: Birthday:07/21/1986 Birth time:05:10 AM Birth place coordinates: 32° 41′ 0″ S, 61° 32′ 0 W Many many thanks!
