NN in 8H is usually about learning to trust others. Life may possibly throw you into sudden, traumatic or overwhelming situations and the point here is to develop a thick skin to be able to rise through it all. Depending on aspects on the nodes, I've seen this to be a crazy placement. I know a friend w/ this, but her NN is opposing Sado and she's been drugged at bar and almost kidnapped, groped and sexually assaulted in public places, stalked etc. Since the SN would be in 2H, since a young age you've been able to "get by" somehow financially and you've developed material comfort already. So NN is about developing your emotional comfort. IP: Logged |

Also the North Node shows the direction you want to go to evolve. The South Node is Karma, coming and going. ------------------ Don't look back, you're not going that way. IP: Logged |

Pretty much this. I don't know about the being assaulted part, but perhaps some may feel that on a personal level from others. It's not easy to develop that emotional comfort, either. NN does not feel comfortable in the house of Scorpio at all IP: Logged |

I have NN in 8th house in Aries, but this description doesn't fit me. If anything, it's the opposite, I've been too trusting and am learning to trust people less as you can't take many for their word. IP: Logged |

This placement makes for the goal of really going deeply into your primal emotions and sexuality. It may not be easy due to the aspirational nature of the NN. IP: Logged |

Well it still sounds like there are lessons to be learned with trust tho? quote: Originally posted by SnowCatcher: Pretty much this. Yeah the assaults are an extreme case which I think is due to the asteroid in her chart but it definitely doesn't have to play out so extreme. IP: Logged |

I have mercury opposite moon squaring very tightly my nodes forming a grandcross making mercury opposite moon my skipped step. My ex AC conjuncts my mercury and his moon conjuncts my moon and squares my nodes so he activated my skipped step and nodes getting me in touch deeply like nobody else has with my "primal emotions and sexuality." He is the only person I have surrendered to emotionally and soul wise all the way. IP: Logged |

It can mean that is a lifetime were sharing your resources with significant other is an important theme too...A theme were you are suppose to let go of your old belief systems and ways that you hold on to that are outdated and have deeply ingrained in you and let significant soulmates transform those via the deep bond and intimacy you share with them which requires trust and some degree of surrender and letting go of control. The deeper the bond the more you feel comfortable allowing that person transform you and expand whatever area of your life corresponds the planets aspecting the Nodes. Like my ex transformed me emotionally he allowed me to feel secure enough with him to surrender fully to him on an emotional level, he expanded my emotions and sexuality. With him I also had to learn to let go of that which has too much power over me which was him and suffer the emotional loss of losing someone I was that attached to in order to neutralize any psychological dependence that was brought to the surface as a result of such intense union and emotional psychic bond. With my husband he transformed intellectually and expanded my mind. It's about letting go and sharing your body, your soul, your mind with another and allowing this bond transform you in those areas... That is how it has manifested for me. IP: Logged |

I have my NN in the 8th house conjunct Saturn. I do really feel comfortable materially with my SN in the 2nd. I thrive on emotions and intimacy, even though I am not in a romantic relationship for a long time now. But I have close friends and family members in which I confide. I cannot always trust just anyone, but I check whether I can trust certain individuals. I think I've been through experiences which made me shake fears and old patterns of thoughts. I also have a Mercury-Jupiter conjunction in the 8th.IP: Logged |

There is also the tug of war between the need for security versus upheaval/crises, the need for security and to maintain the status quo and the need for change, excitement, transformation and intensity. With this placement if something makes you feel safe and so you continue to hold on to it but it's no longer serving your personal growth it will lead to loss, crises and trauma if you don't embrace letting go of this voluntarily coming from you. It's a placement about taking risks and embracing the unknown then enjoying security and stability for a while only to have to let go again of the life you have gotten accostumed to. Any illusions of security both emotional or financial will be destroyed. As a result your belief system is constantly evolving and transforming into ideas very different from the ones you were taught and exposed to growing up. I have Scorpio rising, Jupiter ruler of 2H conjunct Uranus ruler of 4H in the 1st, pluto conjunct Saturn in Scorpio in the 12th and North node in the 8th. IP: Logged |

Hi hypatia, I winder about the illusions concerning stability being destroyed. I wrote earlier that I am comfortable materially, but I need to change my life, and in order to do that I am taking a financial risk. It won't happen at once, but I need to transform a certain area in my life so I may have to lose my current material stability in order to develop and gain more real personal power and adequacy. So what you wrote here might be very true, and I'll have to wait and watch...

Wow, hypatia, that's a very accurate description of the NN in the 8th. Are there any astro markers about transformations? Do they come from the synastry or composite for you? I also have moon in the 8th, along with Pluto so my transformations usually have to do with my significant others. IP: Logged |

Could it be a lifetime being interested in the shadow self? Like the life of a criminal? Or a psychopath? I know most people with North Node in the 8th house, or Scorpio, aren't like this, but I wonder if it's a possibility. IP: Logged |
