What caused me to think of this is that I'm heavily Virgo. Multiple times since diving into astrology, many friends of mine who are knowledgeable about astrology will ask what I have in Scorpio. They'll say that my behavior seems Scorpio. I've suspected that the two are similar in ways. In that their external behavior towards others can be similar. Yet, the driving force, the motivation is quite different. Scorpio being "feeling". Virgo being "thinking". I've also read a few sources that confirm that this idea is not mine alone. When I think about Scorpio influenced people that I've been close to, romantically as well. I fail to see the similarities, though the pairing does generally work. Then as I thought of it, maybe the way others view them can be similar. The closer you are the more that the differences become apparent. What do you think? What's your experience?

Boy, thats a good question and i cant answer it because every scorp influenced person i know has a major virgo placement to. Im very plutonic but i also have a virgo moon so I seem to attract scorp/virgo ppl. IP: Logged |

To me those two signs are indeed very similar, One searches for perfection within, the other searches for truth. Both can be "anal" about what they. Are looking for. And both can be misunderstood in their searches and what motivates them. To me chiron rules virgo, and it essentialism, wisdom, depth, relate very much to what pluto is in it's essence, i.e truth Besides, this is confirmed to me with libra being the midpoint Personally I am heavily virgo (although aqua sun) and i am drawn to scorp like a moth to a flame IP: Logged |

I've always thought that as well, and my close friends who are knowledgeable about astrology have also noticed it. We call them "Those Virgos who act like Scorpios". I always assumed they had some sort of Scorpio placement (and a lot of them do, most notably Mars in Scorpio/Virgo Sun people I tend to draw in often), but I suspect not all of them do. So, yes. (That's the short version of my answer. ) IP: Logged |

Also, I'll add that the qualities I find similar are a piercing scrutiny that they both lay on people. I agree, their analyzing is different slightly in approach, and I suspect they have different reasons for analyzing people...but both scrutinize, and unless there's some type of blinding emotional factor that might cloud their judgement, I believe neither is particularly easy to lie to. Both also seem to have very sharp memories...again, if not clouded by some other subjective, emotional issue.I'm sleep deprived, by the way. So I'm not worrying myself about run-on sentences or ramblings for now.

I'm very Vigo as well, and I have dated a few guys who had Scorpio stelliums. Our similarities attract us to each other, but they seem to make being together difficult (at least for me). It's like playing a mental game of chess. Still, because our outward behavior is so similar, I'm always finding Scorpios in my social life, and in fact several of my closest female friends are Scorpios. I love my Scorpio friends - I can pick up the phone after not seeing them in years and they'll be there, if I need them too. I'm natured the same way, which I think they appreciate or as loyalty (and I suppose it is).One more point...we're both guilty of doing the disappearing act. I've done it before and I've had Scorpios do it to me, before. (Also part of what makes a romantic relationship impossible with them/me.) Then again, maybe I've just been hanging around the wrong type of guys. IP: Logged |

Disclaimer: the following is a bunch of generalities that may or may not apply to you. Virgo and Scorpio tend to get along well. Virgo being a dry arid earthy sign craves water, and of all the water signs, Scorpio is the one that can fit best. Pisces can be too much Virgo's polar opposite, driving Virgo crazy with its messiness and yes laziness; while Cancer can be too whiny, clingy and sensitive. Scorpio is sensitive, and possessive, but not clingy and it irradiates a strength due to Mars and Pluto rulerships which Virgo respects. As for Scorpio, what's in it for it? The other earth signs, Taurus can be too different, Capricorn too calculating and cold hearted. The other water signs can vibe well, but they will not give Scorpio the structure earth can give it. Scorpio tends to like Virgo, something about the virginal aura turns Scorpio on because Scorpio fantasizes about turning Virgo into a harlot. Pluto took Virginal Persepone down into the dark underworld. They both have Venus in "bad" dignities, so they understand the pain of love and they usually take love seriously and are willing to work on it. Scorpio does not trust easily, but Virgo tends to be faithful (physically if not emotionally), so Virgo over time earns Scorpio's trust provided Virgo really cares about Scorpio. IP: Logged |

I don't see them either...or maybe I'm just too lazy to think about it tonight. I guess with all signs I'd rather focus on the differences, so I can guess signs better.

K I just tried to name similarities but it's pretty bland... Both signs tend to look clean, conservative, dignified. (Though, their facial expressions are different.) They speak well (but in noticeably different ways, which I'm finding hard to describe. Basically Virgo is more observant and well-read, Scorpio is more penetrating and tailors the conversation more closely to the person they are talking to. Though sometimes they have walls up and don't do that at all, actually.) They both engage rather intuitively and honestly once you are on their good side. Scorpios use sarcasm more and may flash anger while telling stories, they actually glower, while Virgo is more likely to wrinkle their face or just laugh at someone. Both are critical humanitarians. Virgo seems to put themselves out there right up front, people find that attractive, and then they can choose whoever suits them best. Then they usually grow detached and disenchanted. (I haven't known many happily married Virgos.) To their credit they try and kill softly though. Scorpio seems to be more selective, knowing who and what they want, getting it, hanging on. They are less experimental than Virgo. Well that's about all I've got for now though Lord knows I have hang-ups about one of these signs and therefore find it difficult to compare them to anyone else. IP: Logged |

I'm fairly sure I know the hang up. That was really good though! I have to agree. It was a good description of being similar, but different. IP: Logged |

^^ Yeah!! This is what came to mind when I read the OP. I think Virgo's sensitivity is underrated, and with most other signs, it stays somewhat repressed. Scorpio, however, (or Scorpio-energy) seems to draw that out in them. Virgo can't stay logical and detached as they'd like to, with this fascinating creature making them react in inexplicable ways. Scorpio doesn't allow for neutrality, esp in intimate relationships. Isn't Virgo's true ruler said to be Vulcan? It was never discovered, I suppose. Or maybe it doesn't exist after all? Anyway, what I'm saying is, Virgo might be more like Scorpio, on the inside, than they care to admit. I dunno if you guys have ever seen it in action, but Virgos will 'get even' too - except, in a *legit* way. To put it broadly, their value system, is similar - I think. Their approaches and motivations are different. IP: Logged |

Yes, I have definitely witnessed this! There was a thread a long time ago, and we were discussing the darker sides of Virgo. People like Nick Cave, and although PJ Harvey is a Libra Sun, she does have some conjunctions in Virgo. (I'm not saying they both have Virgo Moons, I'm just...okay, yes I am. ) I've had a lot of very good Virgo friends, and often they will quietly bide their time while watching, and essentially waiting for karma to catch up to people they believe have wronged them (in my experience, including my own way of going about things). They don't seem to often go out of their way to retaliate the way that Scorpio influenced folks can (and do), but rather the wait and watch approach. IP: Logged |

Sister signs...Hmm reminds me of an article I read somewhere that links Virgo "Kore - the maiden" and her transformation into Scorpio "Persephone - the Queen of Underworld". In this thread, people give some pretty interesting observations and insights. I've never thought of these two as being similar, maybe it's time to pay closer attention lol. IP: Logged | |
