Yes Ceri, the 5th harmonic chart is most definitely a important thing to look at. Wouldn't the 11th harmonic be as well? I remember discussing it with you once.

This thread is mostly based off of factors that can be pin-pointed within the natal chart itself, so naturally I didn't think of other tools such as harmonic charts. However, they are useful indeed

------------------
Aquarius Sun, Merc, Venus, Uranus, Neptune
Scorpio Mars conj. Asc in First
8th House Moon opposite Pluto, Trine Uranus
Have you caught onto the predicament I'm in yet?

I have 3 planets in the 5th, Moon trine Neptune, Mercury and Neptune conjunct, 2 planets in 3rd house, and a bunch of other things in my chart you would think make me creative, but nope. Not at all.

It doesn't mean having these placements will make you a creative individual; they are just indicators to look for if you do happen to be creative in some way.

Yes, I think Cochrane mentioned the 11th harmonic chart being important for musicians?

But I also think you are right, first we have to check the basic natal.

I would say I am fairly creative especially in the visual arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, and sewing/garment construction) I just have an empty 5th house but that's compensated by my other placements.

The 2nd house is more in tuned with visual arts which fits my skill set. To add I have Mars in the 12th.
I think the depth of the 12th house adds to all types of artists, real creative vision.

Venus chart ruler
Venus 1st/2nd
Moon 1st
Ruler of the 5th in the 4th conjunct IC
Moon & Mercury Biquintile Uranus
Mercury in Leo quintile asc
Uranus biquintle Asc
Mars trine Neptune
Neptune contraparallel Sun/Venus/Jupiter

^^^^^100% accurate^^^^^^

Also (as you know) I'm a Scorpio Asc. We definitely have something against our voices (and pictures as well). Although I will say for me it's mostly my speaking voice that bothers me. I rather like my singing voice. My singing is unusually deep and commanding for my slender delicate frame. I sing like I'm on a battlefield. Dark and operatic but victorious. It scares people. I have the ability to go extremely high as well but it sounds more banshee-like than angelic lol! I used to wish I had a soft ethereal angelic voice but that wouldn't even fit my soul to be honest.

My 5th house is ruled by Aries but it is completely empty (which makes me sad). I am still EXTREMELY creative though (thankfully). Uranus and Neptune conjunct Mercury may contribute (and Pluto in the 12th). When someone hurts my feelings I don't even think "oh how horrible" I may literally see a vivid vision of my heart (bloody and all) tumbling down an icy hill. I will see such things immediately before a verbal thought can be formed. If there is pain anywhere in my body, I will actually make the motion as if I am picking it up out of myself to throw in the trash. It sounds really weird but I've always been like that. The odd part is that I am also extremely scientific (hence all of my statistical / experimental posts here on Linda lol). People always say a person is either more artistic and less scientific or more scientific and less artistic...yet I am what would happen if you went to each end of the spectrum and put them in one person. I feel you need to have a truly artistic mind to be a good scientist and a truly scientific/analytical mind to reach new levels in art.

Anyway, awesome post I really enjoyed reading it. Many great points were made.

I don't know much about my 5th harmonic chart or the harmonic charts at all. I do have Sun/Neptune, Mercury/Neptune and Venus/Neptune aspects (all trines), though. Since my Sun/Mercury/Venus is in Virgo, it mostly helps with writing (also helped by my Gemini Moon/Mars). I've always loved writing.

I also have Mercury/Uranus and Venus/Uranus aspects (trines) which I think helps with creativity. Maybe that's just me, though.

My parents encouraged me to learn to play music when I was younger, so by the time I turned 17, I could play six instruments. These days, I just fiddle around with my acoustic guitar but occasionally I pull a concert instrument out. It's nice to realize that I haven't "lost" any of my musical skills. They're just rusty, is all.

For a long time, I thought I would form a band or study music in college, but it just didn't work out. I had similar feelings about art (painting, drawing) but finances and circumstances called for a more reliable career.

ETA: My Moon/Mars sextile Jupiter in Leo is probably beneficial for creativity, too.

No quoting please.

I suppose I'm quite creative. Drawing, painting, woodworking, metal-smithing (I like to work with silver and copper), jewellery design, sculpture... I write short stories for kids and illustrate children's books. Kids whom I tutor at the local community love my math games and stories. I write poems, but only when I'm very emotionally charged (3rd house moon). But yeah, I prefer expressing my emotions by painting.

My musical skills are limited, I play the flute but I'm not very good at it. I can't really sing, although some like my soft singing voice.

Sun, mercury, venus, Uranus, Neptune in the 12th house. 1st house Saturn helps putting ideas and inspiration into shapes.

My middle name is creative and I have an extremely vivid imagination. *Fantasy world* Sometimes hard to live in 3d because in my system a lot happens that is not playing out. Hahaha ... I even have it with driving the car. When I had lessons I thought:" hey, I can fly this thing over the rest when I do * this." I constantly have to stay focussed in the car or else...

I like to make songs, write stories, I have a million creative ideas (Moon in 5th trine Uranus and trine MC/Mercury) could be a fashion designer if I had more patience and am creative in problem solving. And a lot else... (photography, making things, cooking ...)

I have Neppy in 3rd and Moon in 5 opposite Venus in Leo. I have the three outer planets aspecting my sun in Cancer 0.35 degr. (Pluto and Uranus in my 1st house, square Sun and Neptune inconjunct Sun). Jupiter is trine my Sun. I like to express myself!

In 5th harmonic I have Neppy conjunct Moon (hence the vivid imagination). Also Pluto conjunct Mars. What would that mean? Sounds ar in yr face

I will check out this thread some more and see all your posts.

Here's some of my art.. It's been a pain in my ass to post so I hope it works! I made some lost wax molds I cast and sell on the side and some of my charcoal drawings..

Art has been the one thing my entire life that's made absolute sense to me! when I was old enough to choose my own toys, my mom said all I needed was pencils and a journel and I would be soooo happy! that and tools lol. I love making things!

I'm super imaginative.. so much so that I'm a space cadet. i mix up dream memories and real life all the time and ive never been able to focus on one thing.. early on when i was young my teachers would figure out that by making me build big complex art projects i would actually sit still long enough for them to teach class lol.

Big time VENUS influence, Taurus rising, libra sun/mars/merc 6th house, virgo moon, these contribute to my crafting abilities and mars in 6th loves mechanical type stuff, metalsmithing.. tools, FIRE! LOVE FIRE HAHA.
my venus is conj pluto on the DC so it definitely adds a very potent and dark influence on my artwork.. i love phantoms.. and mysterious things i suppose. occult symbolism and planets are the best! haha i also have Neptune aspecting every planet/angle in my chart and its conj Uranus and Saturn..

venus's influence is key in creative talent in a chart i think.

I would say creativity with art/fashion/design =

Leo, libra or heavy water influence

Especially Sun-Neptune people are always a bit creative in some sort

the usual 5th house influence on the personal planets or neptune

I've also seen a lot if gemini/virgo people being really good at drawing, gemini because they are very good with their hands, and virgo because they like the details (gemini/virgo mars especially)

Scorpio is often good with dramatic arts lol!

@Electro

I think we spoke before on here....but maybe i dont remember but i like your theories on creative placements in astrology its quite informative and right now i would love to give you more information on creativity based on myself and my friends who are creative as well.

okay so yes mercury-neptune aspects are huge i've noticed with musicians, i have checked numerous charts of musicians that love writing & playing and 80% of them have mercury-neptune placements and lots of leo energy, strong sun, strong 5th ruler OR 5th house when it comes to those that love being on stage and showing off there skills.

as far as myself goes, i'm a singer/musician/visual artist myself. i studied singing since i was 11 and continue to write and produce/sing to this day and collaborate with other musicians. I go to music university and obtaining a bachelor's in music performance voice. I studied fashion design and painting for 4 years in highschool and 1 year in fashion design college but realized it wasnt for me and switched to the university i'm going to now.

i wish i can post my chart for you but at the moment i cant. If you wanna see my chart let me know. but for now ill just list my placements.

Libra rising 2.3 degrees
1st/2nd house ruler Venus in Sag in the 3rd house

Mars Conjunct Mercury/Aphrodite/Ceres etc. in the 3rd house conjunct the IC.
Venus trine 10th Ruler Moon
Sun conjunct 6th ruler/5th ruler Neptune/Uranus in Capricorn sextile Pluto in the 4th house
3rd ruler Jupiter in Virgo R in the 12th house square Venus TRINE URANUS/NEPTUNE
Saturn in 5th House opposite Chiron R in Leo

Also i love your natal placements Electro im actually jealous you have neptune trine mercury. lucky!

For me, it's Sun / Mercury in the 5th house, Moon square Uranus and Neptune, and Venus quintile Neptune. (And maybe Mars biquintile Uranus..). I guess Leo rising too.

I have Mars square Pluto/Jupiter and Lilith (in a T-Square), moon in Aries, and Mars in the 1st house,
and I really like harsh noise and punk / heavy metal music. i make really noisy music..

here's something i've been working on this summer, the vocals on 2 of them are not there yet.

5th house Gemini Sun,
5th house Mercury conjunct Moon, Mars and Jupiter.

I don't see myself creative in the traditional sense of Art.

I'm more into the creative way of solving logical problems.

Earth Science or Math problems.

Not the best, but getting better at Abstract Algebra and Number theory.

Get good at both if you want to master Password encryption and De-encrypting.

Lets say you drive by low rolling hills,??? hmm...

Logic reasons that if it was solid intrusive/extrusive igneous rock it would be much taller and higher.

Therefore it must be filled with sand otherwise. You look at the trees on top of it and you realize there pine trees so it must be sand.

Thats what I mean by creative-logical thinking.

I have two quindeciles that probably add to my creative nature since quindecline can add obsessive nature,

Venus/neptune

and

Jupiter/NN

I actually have an empty 5th house except for Chiron in Leo (which explains why I feel my art is never good enough and me always questioning my talent/creativity even when people like what I do). My focus is oil painting, but I did play the violin for 6 years when I was younger and am able to hold a tune while singing I suppose haha. I could remember since I first began drawing when I was 2 years old that I wanted to be an artist when I grow up.

I think standout aspects are my Pisces Moon in the 12th house in a grand water trine with Cancer Mercury in the 4th and Scorpio Pluto in the 8th with a Neptune conjunct Uranus opposition in the 10th forming the kite. I also have a Taurus Mars in the 1st house which I think gives motivation to create artistic things.

Good topic, Electro DGX, and a good summary. Nice to see it has generated lots of interest.

You are wise to first look to Neptune factors, because imagination is what starts virtually all original creativity, and Neptunian sensitivity and synthesis potential should not be underestimated.

I like what you said about Moon being the root of creativity. It does represent fertile place within us in which soul and body combine fluidly to respond to life. Sun can similarly be seen as a root of creativity.

A person need not have any factors at all in the 5th house to be quite creative. A planet not even in the 5th house can have a closer relation to it (by aspect to an exactly precise cusp) than one in it, or by the 5th`s principle planet (ruler, significator) being in aspect to the authentic Asc or MC.

Another admonition to be sure you are working with a precisely accurate chart before using houses for interpretation. Besides, what a creator`s birth chart may seem to lack in 5th house factors can always be compensated for by 11th house (audience) factors.

Regardless of that, the principles of creativity in astrology are plentiful and relate more to *how* one creates or what energies they bring to the effort.

Mercury/Virgo/Gemini emphasis may mean writing, storytelling, *mental* creativity that may involve in/direct communication.

Venus like Neptune is associated with color and has an eye for the finer things in life, beauty, form and poetry. These folks can be great entertainers. Prince is an example of *Venus parallel MC*. Venus was in his 6th, not 5th, and was not in any aspect to MC in flat wheel (longitudes).

Fire - Sun/Mars/Jupiter like to engage the `live` energies of performance, more dramatic ways. Uranian types can also be very much in love with the electric energies of live audiences.

Water - Moon/Neptune relate more to rhythm and need to emote even if they are normally shy. They can be naturally poetic in this element so long as they maintain their confidence.

About hard aspects, it is true that they don`t seem the same gift as those with the flowing aspects of creativty, but often those who have them try harder. Bob Dylan could be said to have a lousy singing voice, but at times he does seem to try harder and deliver better. (Dylan`s correct Asc is 27 Sagittarius: contra-parallel Pluto, square Neptune.)
