My Libra Venus is square the ASC in Capricorn (8 Degrees, little wide)I love beauty, style and form - never had problems with that. Venus-Saturn match in a certain way. But the socially awkwardness is true. Always dreaming of a pretty house filled with my artist and designer friends - but I'm so shy and can't handle small talk It was worse when I was young. I think this square is really getting better when you grow up! IP: Logged |

Definitely do not relate to this interpretation.I am very physically expressive with love, work in fashion and am forever complimented on my personal style. That sounds arrogant but in the context of this definition I find it necessary to share. IP: Logged |

I find this definition from the AstroMatrix website very accurate - Venus square Ascendant shows that you are a sentimentalist and too attached to your early home life. Your still-vivid memories of that time interfere with your becoming independent and secure enough to stand on your own feet. You feel that if you assert your freedom, you are being disloyal to the past. It should be apparent that unless you let go of binding obligations to those you love, you will never succeed in realizing your personal goals. To justify your difficulty in transferring loyalty to yourself, you devise all kinds of excuses for holding on to your obligations. You can gain the security you need if you capitalize on your creative ideas. Not having sufficient financial reserves is especially painful for you. You know how to make money but you don't enjoy making any physical effort to earn it. You love your comforts and don't like to be disturbed unless it is absolutely necessary. Perhaps it seems easier to let someone else provide for you, so you prefer to live at home with your parents in a ready-made environment. At times you are ungracious to your friends when they ask favors of you, probably because you don't like to extend yourself unless it will benefit you in some way. You are generous when you talk about what you would do with a huge amount of money, but if you had it you probably wouldn't follow through. You admire people who are skilled in accumulating capital in their endeavors, but you resent it when you cannot induce them to assist you in your efforts. Hard work seems worthwhile to you only when your future security is at stake. Your goals are not well-defined, because to define them would burden you with responsibility. You avoid making a personal commitment in using your creative talents unless there is no other alternative, or if your source of sustenance is cut off. IP: Logged |

I see this issue of expression as more of a Sun/Ascendant hard aspect dilemma. The expression of "self" (Sun) in conflict with what the world sees (Ascendant) can lead someone to be very awkward or disjointed in how their personality is perceived. For instance, a Gemini Sun with a Virgo ASC...the Virgoan instinct to be reserved and a little standoff-ish clashes with the Geminian desire to be curious and talkative, so you often get the "wow, you're different than I thought" type of response when you first get to know someone. Having first hand experience with the Sun/Ascendant square, I can tell it's a VERY common response from others. When you have a harmonious blend of Sun/Ascendant, the individual just BEAMS and there is a naturally effortless confidence in how they express themselves (Sun rules Leo). Like they just OWN who they are. It's a trait I envy to be honest. Venus/Ascendant may help with the social graces (Libra) and aesthetic (Taurus) such as Venus/Ascendant soft aspects being effortlessly stylish, but expression is more to do with the Sun IMO. @margym00I understand what you are saying. The Asc is to me the dynamic embodiment of the physical self in motion. But I do see Venus/Asc square as a challenge incorporating self image with self esteem. The two are at odds. So the person with Venus/Asc square feels that people outside do not see them holistically. If they dress a certain way-perhaps too "sexy"- they feel that others will mistake them for being cheap/ vain. I.e Leo Asc square Venus in Taurus Finding the balance between how they want others to perceive them(Venus) and how they come across(Asc), is a constant balancing act. Just like Venus /Asc opp feels that what others say about the way they look, impacts on their image. So they are open to criticism/ comments coming from others- believing that others see them more objectively than they do. Sun/Asc square to me is feeling like your nature is not being seen. Or that people think you rigidly one way, when actually you are multifaceted. Leo Asc/ Sun in Scop. People may think you warm hearted and vivacious. But u are also quite reserved/ suspicious of trusting others.

Hi allWhat about Venus conjunct the MC (10th house) square Ascendant? My Venus is also the ruler of my Ascendant. How does the sign ruler square itself play out? Thanks, Sharon IP: Logged |

I see the Mc as how you want others to see you. The image that you work on and the reputation you are sensitive enough to protect. Venus conjunct Mc wants others to know them as refined, creative, well put together, articulate, friendly, caring about public opinion, wanting to do something that serves all people, neutral,non-judgmental etc. So with the ruler of the Asc (Venus) squaring itself, finding a balance between instinctive expression(Asc) vs. the feedback/opinions of others is important. You may be careful not to put a foot wrong or become offensive. IP: Logged |
