The only person that can close threads on Astrology 2.0 is Randall bc he is the only Mod on this section of the forum and Randall has closed threads that Ami has started, he closed the thread that Faith started earlier today bc it had nothing to do with Astrology even though it was titled Chiron through the houses.^interesting my post is number 411. I don't think Randall or Lalalinda are always in here, someone usually emails them and notifies them that a thread should close which at that point they will follow up once they get the email which if they are busy won't be right away. I personally just noticed this thread when I responded right now and the only reason why I went in it is bc it has 419 replies so I was "ohh oh what is going on in here?." Yes it should be closed if it has gone off topic. I will email Randall in case nobody has yet. Btw anybody can email him to report issues with a thread not just mods. I will also add that the power of mods is very limited, all we can do is close threads in the section we are assigned and move threads involving the section we are assigned. IP: Logged |

I came across that Lip Stick Valley link a while ago, and it was interesting to read. Not because I hate Ami Anne, but because of her influence outside of the forums. Yeah, she has flaws that I think she refuses to work on, but I not going to hate her simply because of that. ------------------

Then, should every thread that halts activity or explores side subjects be 'closed'? .... They would have to write a computer program that automatically shuts down a thread after a number of replies, or, after a few weeks? Do you realize HOW MANY threads there have been here at LL that meander, then, come back to topic? Or they start with a topic for one page, then go into some fascinating side discussions for 60 pages past that. (I'm thinking of the first thread I participated in when I started at LL.) That's the nature of LL... little treasures of side conversations tucked into pages of of a topic. So, this thread is like one of those... You gonna close down every single thread that goes 'off topic'? That's silly. IP: Logged |

Do you think this attitude is any better? I remember huge arguments "in the olden days" - these threads have nothing on them. I feel like an outcast half the time, I've stuck up for Ami over the years, and I don't hate her. I've also tried to point out where I think she could see another persons point of view. And maybe help to fix whatever is wrong there communication-wise. I also love the friends I've made in recent years. I'm off now. I had a great weekend. Well personally I agree with you and don't think getting off topic is an issue! The threads I personally feel should get closed is when they are filled with drama and everything is going around in circles not getting resolved.
