I have this placement and I read that it can have the effect of making one feel unsupported. Like few people understand them or see who they really are etc.My Ic in Cancer is ruled by the Moon and the natural placement square between Aries Asc and Ic Cancer is the freedom vs. Safety dynamic.
It is the same with Sag Asc, Pisces Ic or Leo Asc, Scorpio Ic: there is the external personality that is instinctive (Asc) in challenging aspect to how safe and secure one feels to express it(Ic).
The child with Leo Asc instinctively propels oneself to the centre stage in life I.e the boss, the leader, the woman in charge etc.
But if the Leo Asc has Mars on the Ic square Asc, the family or support system may work towards opposing that need to propel oneself to centre stage.
This creates an inferiority complex or a feeling of being threatened or inhibited by anyone who holds them back(Mars square Asc from the Ic).
So the person either is afraid to express themselves or is intent on freedom of expression-at whatever cost.
I come from a conservative background where being a pioneer, a warrior or fighter is not encouraged. Rather conservative views, passivity and fitting in with what is around you is(Moon conj Ic).
The Moon in Cancer makes me fearful of losing external support. But ironically, it is this external "support" that has me feel like I can't fully express my martial self(Aries Asc).
The square of Moon to the Ic is passive force, passive resistance, passive disapproval .e withdrawal of financial support, ostracized from family, being given unequal treatment by relatives etc.
Add to this the ruler of the Asc(Mars) squares the Ic ruler(Moon). So its not like I am close to family. But even with that being the case, their opinions matter.
