Restaurants open for outdoor dining on Friday.
I think I would have been happy about this, had it not been for the protests that have been taking place for more than a month. Armed protesters storming buildings, walking into sandwich shops and going against the rule to eat outside, walking up and down a woman's neighbourhood, trying to intimidate her and her neighbours. Retail workers dealing with rudeness from people who are impatient, or once again, don't want to comply with the new, temporary rules. My cousin is one of those retail workers. Scaring teenage girls so much that they quit their job at an ice cream parlour. 'Merica. People getting shot in McDonald's, and a park in Texas. Just because. A black man was hunted and killed, and his murderers weren't arrested for two months, until the country saw the video. A black woman was shot in her bed, by police. Don't get me started on the conspiracy crap. 'Merica is definitely back to business as usual, and this is just one more political football. I'm more depressed than I was two months ago, and I don't want to do a damned thing. Pluto/Jupiter in the 3rd square Ceres/Chiron/Sun in the 6th house.
I can't believe how psycho some people are behaving! Oh did you hear about the Family Dollar? The fact that a Family Dollar NEEDS a security guard. The security guard got shot over telling a lady she needs to wear a face mask to shop there! Yes I read about that ice cream parlor in Boston. The fact that garbage human beings are more of a threat than the actual virus. Is this the Twilight Zone? Is the costumer still always right!? There needs to be retail/grocer appreciation day/week. (I get one as a teacher) I applaud a boutique I shopped at for posting "It's not slavery, torture, or the end of democracy. It's just a damn mask." <3

I keep having nightmares. I just woke up from a bad one. Some guy trying to kill me, and others. I hate the chaos. It’s intentional, and it’s being fed by the people who are supposed to look after us, and the people who support them. I’ve been watching sweet little movies, and manage to lose myself in them for a while, but it doesn’t work completely. These idiots are living rent-free in my head. IP: Logged |

"“It may be true that the law cannot make a man love me but it can keep him from lynching me and I think that is pretty important, also. So there is a need for executive orders. There is a need for judicial decrees. There is a need for civil rights legislation on the local scale within states and on the national scale from the federal government.”-Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Don’t let people make you feel there is no place for policy to be enacted to address the issue of racism. It’s a set-up. Legislators have a lane to work in this space and we need to do it! It won’t fix everything but there is a place for it." http://www.facebook.com/em.sykes.5/posts/2777127202522420 IP: Logged |

quote: "I want to share an important piece of music history to reflect on. “A Change Is Gonna Come” was written by Sam Cooke - the king of soul - in 1963, as a protest song to support the civil rights movement. Some of the lyrics were inspired by an incident where Cooke and his friends were arrested for “disturbing the peace” after they were denied rooms at a motel in Shreveport, Louisiana because they were black. Cooke would never see the success of his song, as he was murdered shortly after it’s initial release, by a Los Angeles motel owner named, Bertha Franklin, in December 1964. Franklin claimed he was raping a young girl in one of the rooms, so when he came into her office, she shot him in the chest, piercing his heart. A lot of controversy surrounded his death; Cooke, as a black man, owned his own record label and publishing company, and some people thought he was killed as part of a plot — including the great Etta James, who observed his injuries were well beyond the official account of Cooke having fought the female motel owner alone. The coroner’s jury ultimately accepted Franklin's explanation of events, and returned a verdict of “justifiable homicide”. With that, authorities officially closed the case on Cooke's death. To this day, it is still questioned and disbelieved. Regardless of what happened, killing someone is never justified. When the song was published as a single, the third verse was edited out. The line went, "I go to the movie and I go downtown somebody keep telling me don't hang around" and apparently was too boldly speaking about segregation. However, the album version shows the whole lyric. I encourage you to give this beautiful song a listen. Right now. And ask yourself: 57 years later, why are people still judged by the color of their skin?"#BlackLivesMatter
http://www.instagram.com/p/CA4eOLtJaZX/ Just a few weeks ago, white *armed* protesters of stay-at-home orders, had the audacity to compare their plight to the civil rights movement.

http://twitter.com/JohnGallagherJr/status/1269049255970443264 "I’d like to tell you a story about Bruce Springsteen and the New York City Police Department. Bruce Springsteen’s song “American Skin (41 Shots)” is a tender, moving ode to Amadou Diallo. Diallo was a 23 year old Guinean immigrant who was shot 19 times by 4 plain clothes cops outside his NYC apartment in 1999. 41 shots were fired. He was unarmed. The cops were acquitted. When Bruce debuted the song in Atlanta in 2000 it was considered controversial. The largest police union in NYC was like “That’s it! The Boss is cancelled!” They called for the NYPD to boycott Bruce and refuse to offer security for his upcoming shows at Madison Square Garden.
Listening to the song now, it’s hard to imagine what made them so mad. It isn’t angry or accusatory, just sorrowful. It offers up the simple, powerful refrain...
“You can get killed just for living in your American skin.” It is a stunning song. Give it a listen. The fact that it made the NYPD so mad tells us a lot about why they are doing what they are doing right now. The party line has always been the same...
Question our authority and become our enemy. It doesn’t matter if you’re a famous rockstar or a citizenry demanding reform. Last Sunday, Ed Mullins, president of the second largest police union in NYC, tweeted Chiara de Blasio’s arrest record after she was arrested protesting. It included her license info and address. Chiara is the Mayor’s daughter. She’s 25. Mullins has been on the force since 82.
The Sergeants Benevolent Association’s account was briefly suspended because posting people’s private information without their knowledge, also known as doxxing, is a dangerous violation of Twitter Rules. The tweet was removed and Mullins quickly regained control of the account.
In February, Mullins tweeted that members of the NYPD were “declaring war on Mayor de Blasio and did not respect him.” He also tweeted a video that referred to black people as “monsters” and public housing as “war zones.” This is the head of NYC’s second largest police union.
This week he put out a statement praising officers for their recent performance during protests. He proclaimed that the NYPD answered to a “higher power” and will “win the war on New York City.” Then he went on Fox News and begged Trump to call in the National Guard to occupy us.
He told Laura Ingraham that the NYPD was “losing the city of New York.” I guess I’ve been naive all this time because I didn’t realize it belonged to them.
Yesterday the NYPD sought and was granted the right to arrest anyone and hold them for more than 24 hours in crowded jail cells without arraignment while the covid-19 pandemic still looms. This is a rare and stunning suspension of habeas corpus.
To recap, the president of the second largest police union in New York City publicly declared war on both its mayor and its citizens in the last four months. It’s not making many headlines right now but it seems like a red flag and a pretty big deal to me! The thing about Mullins is, cops love him! He’s been a union boss since 2002. They love that he visits Trump in D.C. and trashes the Dem Mayor and owns the libs on his divisive, partisan Twitter account. How do you change that? How do you fix what doesn’t see itself as broken?
Make no mistake. The police are in full on revenge mode now and it will only get uglier. If a Springsteen song can get under their skin and set them off then surely they are fuming at having their absolute power and immunity threatened and defied so brazenly on the world stage.
But what did we expect? In 2017, our POTUS gave a speech on camera in which he gleefully encouraged New York cops to be violent when performing arrests as rows of uniformed police officers laughed and applauded from the bleachers behind him. Where did we think this would lead us?"
