Do you think its your Leo Moon that could also account for the attraction?

I wouldn't dismiss the same element connection.But i wouldn't strictly say it needs to be a direct planetary contact to work i.e sun-sun or moon-moon.

I know people say Sun signs only do not matter but I find that in a way, there is some link. Mercury cannot be more than a sign apart from the sun and Venus can only by 2 signs apart from the sun max.

It does explain that for example, if you see a Sag woman who goes more for water sign men, she has a ton of inner planets in Scorpio.
