I want to talk about Final Dispositor or Sole Dispositor. AND your Rising ONLY rule your 1st house, it does NOT rule the rest of your remaining 11 houses. NO astrology books ever say your Rising sign rule all 12 of your houses nor rule your whole chart. There something called the Sole Dispositor and the Final Dispositor. And there are people who have a Final Dispositor (I will give an example to that below).

I will cut and paste quotes from astrology sites as it explain what it is: [[ The Sole Dispositor in Astrology is seen as particularly rare and special because it is not only in its own sign but it also rules all the other planets in the chart. It is seen to be on a throne, with no other planet exerting influence over it. It is thought to be a dominant force within the natal chart. ]]

[[ Any planet in its ruling sign is doubled in power by its placement – this is what the Greek astrologer Ptolemy said in his classic work “Tetrabiblos,” an ancient text on astrology. Think of the sole dispositor – which is always in its ruling sign – as magnifying the power of a planet even more.

The sole dispositor of a chart represents a planet whose energy affects all others , and so an energy that, rather then tending to manifest in certain situations, tends to color through its energy all situations, endeavors and impulses of the person.

The sole dispositor is an important consideration, and should always be taken into account when interpreting ALL OTHER AREAS OF THE CHART, for like a drop of colored ink placed in water, it colors everything. ]]

And this quote from a professional astrologer: [[ " No matter what, ruler of the ASC is steering your ship. But at the end of the day, it’s the final dispositor that everyone is answering to. You can look at it as: a Gemini Rising has Mercury steering their ship, the captain. But if the Final Dispositor is Saturn, the condition of the waters and boat will require a more slow, backbreaking pace.
Mars as final dispositor and that ship is ripping through the waves like a speed boat.

I’m the former example. I have Mercury ruling my ASC but a strong Saturn as final dispositor and basically everyone is answering to pee paw. " ]]

----------------------------

I want to add this, as it explain more, cut and paste this from an astrology site.

The Power of Dispositors: A Systematic Approach

Dispositors are the Circuitry of a Chart

Dispositors are a way we can look at astrology with a systematic approach. Astrology is no different than life with respect to the fact that everything is inter-related. People need support, and a feeling of connection. The planets operate the same as people. They need support and connection. The make-up of a chart involves how the planets are connected. This can be seen as the circuitry of a chart. I see it as how a chart is wired giving great depth into the life’s karma. Events play out systematically according to the patterns. You will be able to see the root cause of any behavior and situation based on the planets associations or connectors.

Dispositors Reveal the "Why"

A Dispositor is a one-way connector of the planets. It is simply the sign a planet is in; the planet of that sign is its dispositor. The planet that is the dispositor of a planet is the soul essence of that planet (DeFouw). It gives the reasons why a planet reacts in the way it does. Example: Saturn in Libra: Venus is the dispositor of Saturn because Venus rules Libra. Venus would be the soul, and reason why Saturn operates the way it works. Look to all the planets and their dispositors. What is happening is you’re finding the connections of the planets. They are all connected in this way.

Final Dispositors

You may find as you follow the planet's dispositors around the chart, one planet will end up as the final dispositor. It will be in it’s own sign of rulership, because when a planet is in the sign it rules it disposits itself. This is why planets in their sign of rulership are so strong and intense. Example: Saturn in Libra is dispositor by Venus, Venus in Sagittarius is deposited by Jupiter, Jupiter is in Gemini is disposited by Mercury, Mercury is in Virgo, since Mercury is ruled by Virgo it cannot go any further. In this case it is the final dispositor, meaning the energy of the chart is focused through Mercury. A final dispositor will be one of the most significant planets in a chart. There can be a planet that is a final dispositor of other planets in the chart, but one final dispositor of all the planets is rare.

---------------------

And now I will give an example of this man chart.

Aries Sun.
Cancer Rising (btw, Asc is NOT a planet).
Gemini Moon.
Pisces Mercury,
Aries Venus
Aries Mars
Capricorn Jupiter
Libra Neptune
Virgo Saturn

NONE of his planets are it in sign, except Aries Mars, and that is an Aries Stellium right there (Aries Sun, Aries Venus, Aries Mars).

Sorry, but Mercury dispose that Gemini Moon of his. His Aries Mars is Dignify here, and is his Sole and Final dispositor.

To me, this man chart his Gemini Moon (ruler of his 1st house only) is NOT more important than his Aries Stellium including a Dignify Aries Mars in the Stellium (of Aries Sun, Aries Venus, Aries Mars).

@married11years, did you see anything on the non connection string, in the circles at the top? I have no idea which of the 4 charts is the sole chart either.

yeah, the ASC is not a planet but is one of the most important "things" in someones chart. More than other planets most of the time.

Some planets often show what parents you received, what type of partner you will have.

For example, having Mercury as the ruler of the 7th house in the 12th house could point to a partner with mental problems. So in this case is not about the person, but his/her partner.

the ASC and its ruler often dominate the chart because the ascendant points the most to you and planets placed in the 1st house. It draws all the other houses, it shows how you go through life, it's the point that shows more about yourself, than other planets placed in other houses.

The ASC is not just the body.

mee_chryssa,

I will show you a chart where this man Ascendant is NOT the dominant.

Explain to me this man chart below, because this man, his Aries Sun, Aries Venus, and Aries Rulership Mars here in his 10th house MC is MORE important than his Ascendant (because he has ZERO, yes, ZERO planets or anything in the ruler of his Asc, beside the Asc itself). And his 1st house is empty.

You do know that there are people out there with chart that has NOTHING in planet or anything in the sign of their Ascendant (beside the Ascendant only right?)

Look at this man chart:

Aries Sun.
Cancer Rising (btw, Asc is NOT a planet).
Gemini Moon.
Pisces Mercury,
Aries Venus
Aries Mars
Capricorn Jupiter
Libra Neptune
Virgo Saturn

Obviously this man has ZERO planets in Cancer, ZERO planets in Cancer. And also, this man Vertex, Lilith, North Node, Fortune, NONE are in Cancer. So beside the ruler of his first house, there NOTHING Cancer in his chart.

His 10th house MC is Aries rule (Mars has his 10th house). And 10th house is an important house in astrology. What go in there? His Aries Stellium, of his Aries Sun, Aries Venus and Rulership Aries Mars.

Now if you ask him, what he identify more with, and what is stronger in his chart? It not his Cancer Ascendant. BUT it his Aries Stellium 10th house MC, including his Sun, Venus and Rulership Aries Mars.

If his so called Moon ruler Cancer ASC is so strong then his Moon would be in a dignify sign Cancer sign, not a Mercury rule moon, that got dispose by Mercury. And he would at least have something Cancer in his chart (beside the Ascendant), but he has NONE. Not even a planet, or a Vertex or NN, NOTHING. And he wouldn't have an Aries Stellium in his 10th house of Career with Rulership Aries Mars in there.

So obviously in this man case it different. Therefore a WHOLE chart need to be look at, and not just based it on someone Ascendant.

Having more Cancer placements in his chart would more relate to the dominant sign and signature than the ruler of his ASC and how important is that in a chart.

The sole dispositor is a misleading, in my opinion.

Every planet has a ruler, except for those that are in domicile. And each ruler tells a story about how the karma of a house is unfolded or realeased.

The Sun is the ruler of the 2nd house - how we earn our money, our values, our self-esteem.
Venus is the ruler of the 4th and 11th house - house of home life and house of friendships/organizations/groups/wishes and hopes.
Mars is the ruler of 5th and 10th house - house of children/fun/hobbies and house of career and public life.

None of them relate to the 1st house, which is the house of self.

The ruler of the ASC Cancer is in the 12th house in Gemini, which its ruler is in the 9th house and the ruler of Mercury in Pisces is in Capricorn in te 7th house. That speaks more of himself than his stellium in the 10th house. I would say that he likes privacy and values more the life in solitude and with partner, despite his stellium in Aries in the 10th house.

Anyway, those planets being on an angle will be noticeable and rulling 5 houses, will be put upfront in his life because their rulers are in the 10th house, despite his need for privacy.

The point I was trying to make was that the ASC shows how the native will navigate through all those other difficulties or blessings in his life pointed by other placements.

In his case, he will probably retreat or feeling lost everytime something bad happens, because many houses are ruled by Mars, even thou it's in domicile, it's still Mars.

Most probably, he has the dominant sign Aries for his chart and Mars being the dominant planet, but all the Aries in his chart relate more to other areas of his life, than actually himself.
