Is it possible?
Knowing about astrology we can predict a very general direction in which things might go.
But have you ever managed to mitigate difficult transits' outcome simply by knowing they would be happening and what they might bring (Uranus - change. Pluto - transformation, etc.)? Did preparing for difficult transits ever enable you to best benefit from the experience?

To some degree. For example, if you know that hard Uranus transit is coming you can try to avoid making commitments so that you have more flexibility when it hits. I did this - decided to travel for a year when Uranus was squaring my Moon and it was the best decision. Had I stayed put, I would have probably had all kinds of problems at home. This way I had a blast being on the move and flying so much. It was still hard, but exciting at the same time. I also decided to spend a month in a desert during transit Saturn opposite my Moon - I knew the transit will make me feel isolated so I thought I better enjoy the desert than feel miserable among people. I think it worked out well. The energy plays out one way or another, so if you have a choice, you can pick a scenario that seems less stressful / more appealing. In other words, don’t fight it, pick a path of the least resistance instead.

Also, being aware of the energy can help you to stop and think before you act when external events happen. Ask yourself what it is that you need to learn from them. But emotionally, no, I don’t think you can prepare

This is just from my own take and spin....

I deal with transit best when I am not thinking about it or preparing - I would never know what to expect exactly what it offers. I feel when I do prepare - I am too worried if I am doing it right or wrong. It's a mess.

And keeping a positive or clean mindset as much as possible - a mental diet. And be gentle with myself when it gets hard. It's human to feel defeated and have negative thoughts from time to time.

I'm dealing with transit Pluto square Moon at the moment and transit square Neptune (its almost over after this year!) It's quite triggering but it has to be one of the smoothest phase of my life (since discovering astrology).

When tPluto was squaring my Venus (2018-20201) I was in my mind a lot and reading all these things online and peoples experiences. You know how the descriptions are.. sometimes fatalistic or scary? I was focusing on that a lot thinking it helps "prevent" things. In reality, it was feeding into my fear and making the focus goes towards there.

If I were to do it differently, I would try to focus on what my mind is focusing on. Is it helping me? No? Okay, byeeeeeee. The internal circumstances matters.

I don't prepare for transits anymore, I just ignore them and get on about my life, knowing that in the scheme of things, all will be well because I place my faith in God, not planets.

HOWEVER, I spent decades trying to find ways to prepare for challenging transits.

The heavy hitters were Saturn, Uranus, Pluto, Neptune, Mars.

Saturn: Work hard, plan ahead, and don't fight authorities, be ready to keep your head down.

Uranus: You can't prepare for that. The very nature of uranus is unpredictability.

Mars: Don't get into fight. You might lose.

Pluto: don't fight the need for change and reinventing yourself. Don't fight with authorities or powerful people. You might lose.

Neptune: All that shine is not gold. Your thinking faculties are not clear. Be careful about deception.

Thanks everyone for interesting insights.

Due to natal placements, I am used to a situation where an outer planet transits many of my important points, one after another. So I have to have a strategy dealing with many challenging transits from one planet, to my planets in angular houses.

I found it particularly hard to deal with hard Neptune transits, as my efforts to deal with the situation were futile or very limited. It is hard to grasp what you should or should not do during these transits, contrary to Saturn or Pluto transits. So it is hard to really have a strategy here.

I also found it hard to deal with challenging transits from the 7th house. The problems stemmed mostly from other people. You cannot predict what others will or won't do, you can only respond to it. Especially that my natal Sun is in the 1st house, lol. So I literally feel that other people are opposing me or my efforts when an outer planet is transiting my 7th house.

Ah, yeah, I also had Neptune transiting all of my personal planets many years ago. I think the lesson there was to just let go, have no expectations, let things be, try to ride the waves… easier said than done.

I am loving everyone's insights here.

I honestly started trying to do little nice things to raise my vibration just about daily. I don't believe they can silence a rough astrology transit, but it can be helpful.

I have a little list of things I can do. Today's focus is having a vase of fresh flowers in the home. I did an intuition buy. And no matter what's going on...I took time for self care and to beautify my space.

But I did get to a point last year where I was so knocked on my arse that I couldn't do any of these things. For about a month.
(Uranus and Saturn where sqauring and opposing my moon, pluto and IC. And Chiron was square my chiron, and Mars was retrograde in my fist house)
Oh but when you are so knocked on your ass that's when I started communicating with ancestors, started to take the signs I was getting more serious, and asking my ancestors for signs...and I've been really going through a spiritual awakening.

Also when you finally have down time, I try to do something on my to-do list. Right now I'm working on a vacation...the vibes are getting better for planning it. I also took a nap today that is on my other to do list.

With doing these things, early on I've set the intention of whatever is meant for me while doing this. So...a few years ago my living environments got more unstable while practicing more. ALSO I read that Chiron square Uranus is not ideal for occult practices. Which is what I was dealing with a t the time. Lots of hard lessons of I want to control something I outgrown. Like if I wanted my neighbor gone. I would be the one who would end up leaving first. When I wanted my boss gone, we both ended up leaving the same year. etc, etc.

I've been feeling raw inside the last few days with Venus rx square Mercury Taurus house 12 ruling planet.
Conjunct Leo SN h3
oppose Aquarius NN h9
square pluto Scorpio h6

I do like to look ahead sometimes...like when I saw that Uranus was going to square my Mars sign (like it is now exactly) I knew that my now ex husband not satisficing me and being less adventurous was going to be dealt with in some way. STRONG COULPLES can get though it. I remember thinking I wonder if we'll get through this one?

Honestly around that time a lot of Scorpio moon women in FB groups were complaining about lack of emotional support in the marriage was testing them hard. (opposition)

Currently having tUranus conjunct SN, Midheaven, Jupiter and opposite itself, I’ve realized to go with the flow and not be rigid. But then again, I’m very used to Uranus in my natal chart and also from the way I was brought up. I’m not married to any plans..

Saturn doesn’t bother me either (Cap Moon). I’ll just plow away.

I would say ignoring would be a good solution. I mostly look after the fact or a half way through. And many transit topics there could make it worse.
If you can fix a problem - do it. If you can’t- forget about it. (Something from Buddhism)

Though, this would be helpful to remember:

I would add Uranus- learning to ride waves and embracing unconventional. Uranus can give you courage to do something you would not generally do.
Need to try using this energy for a good purpose, not for destruction. Though it’s difficult.

I only partly agree. This might be a good solution, especially with one isolated transit, to just observe what is going on and only if there is anything strange, then look more into the transit and think about how you can deal with the problems.
But I wish I had known about astrology years ago when I was a teenager and when I was going through several hard Pluto transits from my 4th house (conjunct IC, sq Venus, opp Moon, sq ASC and then sq Sun). I thought I was going insane. If I had known how Pluto operates it would have maybe helped me deal with what I was going through and would have saved me at least some stress.

I'm so glad that Uranus squaring my NN is over.

I’m still not sure I get how Pluto operates. If I could get a guideline how to make a deal with them, but all I could see threats how painful and destructive they are.
I usually start to look at transits when I feel something is off. If I would be sitting and waiting for transit, I go crazy.

Unfortunately, some I cannot forget because people are constantly talking about them here.

I have been feeling really low since last night. I have Mars square Neptune transit right now. The interpretation is spot on. I should have a turning point by the end of this weekend. I've been crying. The last few days.

Yes and no, imo.

Transit Pluto square moon isn't something you can prepare for.

Therapy might be an option, but the tricky thing about transit Pluto square moon specifically, you never know what you're going to get so how can you prepare for it?

Therapy might jumpstart the internal process, but you won't know what needs healing until Pluto tells you... even if you were already aware of the need to heal.

Pluto can surprise you just as much as Uranus but the difference is, Pluto will cut you way deeper than Uranus ever could.

I would say other, easier transits.. you can prepare for.. like Transit Moon square Mars . Prepare to be irritable for half a day..

Certain transits ..

Thanks for mentioning Chiron. I experienced its transits as profoundly significant, but apparently this is not always the case. The main theme of the transits seems to be unfairness... Not sure if you can prepare for it but understanding what was going on did help.

In my experience the remedies I used where

Chiron square Chiron: go to therapy
Chiron square Uranus: you will not get the results you want at all with witchy, new agey, feng shui. I figured it was a time to just heal and not a time to try to control. I would wear more pink clothes, and magenta is said to be for rapid healing...witch is a color I almost seem to have an aversion to. lol
Chiron square Neptune: Protection! Protective colors (dark red, blue, black, purple) Protective rocks like tiger eye. I have some mini ones allover the place. Pray to ancestors, guides, TF, and the God hand I've seen in my visions.

Hmmm right now Chiron is doing nice things in my chart. I cannot stand when it goes retrograde. I've prayed to my most protective guide, and great aunt when I feel threatened. Now that I'm back to teaching I have to tone down some of my witchy new, agey feng shui stuff. I've been revaluating some of the stuff I do. I've been keeping it more simple lately like working with anointing oil in my warmer or putting it on after I shower. I have a yellow jade in my purse. I've been wearing my turquise ring for a few months and giving it a cleanse and charge on the new and full moons.

Right now Chiron is in my 11th house.
Trining my IC sextile my MC.

Can we discuss

Transit Chiron square Neptune/ Uranus?

I have moon square Neptune/ Uranus naturally

I seem to be attracting fickle, Neptunian men lately. They're usually very into me, but too many blurred lines to take them serious.

Chiron is in Aries, opposite to Libra so unfairness sounds very relevant to this position.
I feel like there’s not good Libra qualities around. I cannot get support and good socializing.
As conclusion, preparation could be not to look for support and approval.
More dramatic is to believe in healing and accept vulnerability and suffering.

Also, yeah, life is unfair.

I have questionable attitude to pink. The new Barbie movie pushes it too hard lol
I think I got into crystals with Pluto or Neptune transits, but I occasionally forget about it. Tiger rock is my all time favorite so far. I have trouble to keep up with many crystals and remember what is what. I have one reddish I cannot find its name what’s a shame.
I need to do something for protection I feel so vulnerable and sensitive lately.
Thanks for sharing.

That’s what I found:
“With Chiron in Aries, the knot runs around our ability to take action, to stand up for ourselves, to bravely move forward. Chiron in Aries invokes the previous times when we were scarred by aggression, violence, or even war. It touches on suppressed anger and frustration as well as defeatism. It’s power struggles in relationships. It’s our physical wounds, our handicaps, the times we’ve felt stuck. Chiron in Aries is the karma of inaction.”

I’ve been feeling stuck for a long time.
Now I got two events I was struggling to organize together because they were supposed to happen around the same time. I might end up blowing off both of them..

Another idea is to create an event yourself. First, I thought to hide would be a better option, but often transits produce energy what can manifest into events. So use it into creating your own event🤓

Seems like a great idea This might facilitate transits' main job. Besides, I think that it's not only about surviving the storm with difficult transits but also trying to benefit somehow from the experience, with both positive and more difficult transits.
