The interaction between these two can either make one very flexible and open to new information (on one hand). Or erratic and emotionally unstable (on the other hand). Both are actually the two sides of the same coin ( depending on the situation that they are looked at from).
Mercury will pick up much in the way of the immediate environment. Give the Moon much to ponder and think about. So the native will have a very "busy" mind. It will be a library of information. But how well organized it is, will depend on the planets and aspects involved.
In some cases, these two interacting can create an individual who does a lot of physical movement. Since Mercury is also about commerce and the Moon is the home, there could be a lot of movements in the home that affect the career OR career shifts affecting the home life. Life is seldom stable for long.
Add to the above, there may be an inner (Moon) restlessness (Merc) that makes the native very interesting, eclectic and eccentric (on one hand). This because they are just so knowledgeable about so many things. And expressive of those things too.
But then on the other hand, there is a little "madness" or "unreliability" that is there or being out of touch with "reality" that others may notice. This person doesn't like things that are not "interesting" or "exciting".
They may even refuse to engage in these things at all(even if they are necessary) I.e. "laborious" hygiene practices like bathing or grooming oneself frequently, cooking food and eating on a regulated basis (they may forget to eat or bypass cooking altogether for a snack or liquid substance that works enough to have them feel "fed") , doing laundry or even house-keeping.
Mercury gives the Moon a "lightness of touch".So these people are seldom engaged in one thing for long(unless that thing remains dynanic and interesting to them) as routine is not their thing. As such, the career or home changes are often self initiated or quickly welcomed as they are presented by external universal forces.
