How are we impacted by a transiting planet that already forms the same aspect to the same planet in the natal chart? I am posting this as a general question so please comment as there are many scenarios.

I look at the slower moving planets - Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus etc. and I am interested the most in squares. Eg. you have Sun Saturn square natal, and then Saturn in transit squares Sun and opposes natal Saturn. Is that transit easier for the person to handle because they already live with that energy and know how to handle it? Or does it make the transit even harder than for the person that doesn't have the aspect natally?

I will experience this soon the first and only time in life. Natally my Uranus forms squares to Sun, Mercury and Asc. Soon traniting Uranus will square Asc first, then Sun (Asc ruler) and Mercury and then oppose natal Uranus (all within 2.5 degrees orb). I am nervous and excited at the same time.

I don’t know, sorry. I googled recurrence transits, but it looks like the astrologer who used to talk about them, now has the information monetized.

Thank you teasel! That is helpful - I didn't know they are called recurrence transits. I'll see what I can find.

I found this:

http://www.quora.com/How-does-a-native-experience-a-ha rd-transit-when-they-have-the-matching-aspect-in-their-natal-chart

Quoting from there:
"...the return of a hard natal aspect through a significant transit is an opportunity for you to focus on the core issues involved with the aspect and explore how you may have grown and transformed around those issues or whether you have avoided dealing with them. Basically, such transits are an opportunity to review and assess how you have handled your natal aspects to date and to explore other, perhaps deeper. levels of what the aspect expresses"

I think I'm starting to feel my recurrent transits. With hard Uranus aspects natally, I learned to be very careful, sometimes to my own detriment maybe, in a way that I forget my own strengths trying to play along with everybody else. I think these recurrent transits will push me to have less patience for playing along. And hopefully help me express Uranian qualities more openly and graciously at the same time.

“The same aspect to the same planet in the natal chart”. It sounds like a planet return. However, with the slow moving planets as Uranus, Neptune, Pluto you would experience it only if you live very long.

This topic probably means a similar aspect. It won’t be the same if a planet doesn’t return in its natal position. The similar hard aspect and conjunction to a natal aspect would trigger natal issues and highlight this aspect.
I would never know I had qualities of my natal aspects and how they manifested before the transits to those aspects hit me.

I’m interested to hear opinions about this also.

Right, depending on the aspect... it would be a plant return if one has an opposition in the natal - e.g. Saturn opposite Moon. The recurrent aspect would be Saturn return opposite Moon.

But if one has Saturn square Moon in natal, then transit Saturn will square Moon at some point and oppose natal Saturn. We can experience that with Uranus as well. Neptune takes around 83 years to oppose its natal position.

Yeah, still curious It must be different for the person who already has the aspect in the natal chart. I don't know if it's easier or not... my guess is that it is because the person already knows to some degree how to work with that energy.

I am in the midst of this so just coming back to report on the experience. Yes, definitely everything that is happening has to do with the natal aspects. This Uranus transit to Asc (and later Sun, ruler of the Asc) that I’m experiencing has a lot to do with my identity. Uranus is natally in my 4th house (0*00' Sagittarius) and I have roots in multiple counties, I live far away from my birth place and my heart is in yet another country. All of that is in my face right now, really fast paced, which made me even more aware that I am always somehow foreign wherever I am. I’m fine with it, but it can be very challenging sometimes. Like being whole, but things never quite fitting right anywhere because the pieces of me are from different places. There are also some more formal things I am dealing with currently that have to do with better defining my identity.

I think these "recurrence transits" are less disrupting than regular transits. Still intense though, but the energy feels very familiar.

OK, I'm joining the club of Leo rising folks freaking out because of Uranus transits. If anyone has any patience to comment... I'm pretty good at reading my own transits etc, but God knows I miss things and I can be subjective. Next year will surely be one of the most important years of my life - Uranus square Asc, Sun, Mercury, opposite Uranus, and Saturn + Neptune trine natal Uranus. All three planets will go back and forth so these aspects will last whole year.

Solar Sun conjunct IC. Solar Asc conjunct natal IC. Progressed Asc and MC changing signs - Asc moving to Libra, MC moving to Cancer.

I already know what's coming... I will finalize some major things in life that will ultimately give me a lot of freedom. I'm also finishing a very important project at work and I expect some career changes. The month Saturn enters 8th house will be the month I will finish paying off a debt. And so on...

The biggest thing will be whether I move overseas or not... Thanks to Uranus transit through Taurus, I've been keeping my whole apartment in storage and traveling like crazy. I can't decide whether I should sell everything and drop all the weight. Or keep waiting. I chose to pursue freedom over security in life and I earned enough of it... to hopefully build more security on my own terms.

I'm just afraid of myself now - because I'm getting a glimpse of these transits. It took enormous amount of time and effort to use those natal rebel Uranus squares constructively - and now with these transits I feel like a rebel teenager again. I keep listening to hard core and punk out of the blue. I have zero tolerance for any BS, fakeness, stupidity and such. I have good friends that I love dearly, but I'm getting irritatingly impatient because I have too much energy - mental and physical. I lived fully 100% so no regrets in that sense, but I feel like life is just starting and so I'm conflicted and confused by people slowing down. And I miss my ex dearly because we have the same levels of energy (that self-centered Leo who has also been going through transit Uranus squares). We only split because he wasn't ready for marriage... though we still love each other on some level. His Moon on my Asc, so this will be the last Uranus square for him as well. I have a trauma from all that. And I can’t understand this world where nothing is ever good enough for people to commit and truly trust and support each other.

Should I sell everything? I’m really unhappy where I live now (the quality of life is getting worse and it’s a place where there’s definitely a lot of fake people and misplaced values). I have no desire to meet new people here and connections I have don’t make me happy. Dating is a disaster. I know it's impossible to predict things... I think there's enough to indicate that I will move. Neptune and Saturn both trining Uranus in 4th house should help. I want to move to my old continent but I'm still not sure (not where I was born, but closer than I am now). I made the first intercontinental move when transit Uranus was conjunct natal Mars (ruler of 9th and 4th house).

I use placidus because I found that's more accurate for my chart - the events always line up better with placidus placements.

Frida, what might be helpful is to check what happened app. 20 years ago when Uranus squared Uranus and was adversely affecting the same natal placements. How did you handle these energies back then? What strategies worked and what failed?

I will also go through multiple Uranus transits including conjunction to my MC and Uranus opposition but this will happen when Uranus enters Gemini. When I think about how these transits affected me back when Uranus entered Pisces I know I must be very careful how I proceed now. I made some great decisions and life became interesting in many ways. With one exception though. Taking one moderately risky decision (I knew it was risky) created so much disruption and chaos that I still feel the consequences of what happened, 20 years later. But it’s Uranus, it’s unpredictable and you can never really tell for sure how things will pan out.

That’s a great idea to check on a past Uranus transit.

Also, a significance of this transit , it creates t-square with natal aspect.
I would think with the transit’s apex is in Sun Mercury, you would have much more control over Uranus changes.

As my long time ago Uranus transit sq. natal Uranus. It created many life-altering changes and forward years of changing locations. I was a part of an equation, but didn’t acknowledge or didn’t want to see how big those changes and decisions were. Didn’t really see any responsibility in those. I acted more as go with a flow, follow the white rabbit lol It could be still my favorite strategy.🙃 But I developed a lot of resistance last years.

I didn’t experience the next Uranus yet. I often resist changes and they usually happen when I lose control, let go or get fed up with stagnation. I have had many changes in my life so I cannot have enough more peaceful periods.

With that much Aqua energy, it shouldn’t be that big stress and resistance.

Thank you! Seriously, even just asking the right question and communicating helps!
Uranus square is a bit rough for everyone I think, just like the opposition can be. For me, I met someone I liked a looooot when the square transit started (much later we were even considering marriage). However, that was right before he moved to a foreign country so nothing happened between us for a long time. I was stuck with my studies at the university. I discovered astrology. I was depressed because I couldn't make changes. I outgrew the environment I was in. I barely talked because I couldn't make myself understood. I felt empty with my friends and craved changes so bad. Halfway through the transit I changed universities and focused on work. By the third hit, I was in a very loving relationship with that guy and eventually, after the transit was over, moved overseas with him.

You are right, there are some similarities... I feel like I completely outgrew the environment I'm in again. I am literally counting days. I feel misunderstood or maybe it's more like I feel it's futile to explain things - despite people being really kind, and I have to be careful to respond with kindness! It's a feeling of "there's an amazing world out there, and I'm stuck and why is everybody else going in circles, why am I p****d and they are not, why is everything so slow, I need to break free etc." Being a bit figurative here, just to portray the madness. Of course I know a lot of people feel stuck, but when Uranus hits things start breaking. The difference now, compared to 20 years ago, is that we all feel that the world is a bit sh***y right now. But life itself I guess is amazing.

Changes can be hard! I don't know your placements, but I think very few signs are comfortable with changes. Even when you kind of follow the white rabbit, you still follow your guts so the destination is the same I was with a Leo during his Uranus transits - square Venus, Sun, Mars etc... he was a handful, but I feel like the changes were mostly internal for him. Whereas a Taurus I know with 5 planets in Taurus had a total breakdown I think. No Taurus likes change.

Yes, I feel like I will have some control over these changes. I think the wait will be more frustrating and changes very welcome!
