Usually, the locks are so people can see the original string to know where it was moved.------------------ "Nurture great thoughts, for you will never go higher than you think."--DISRAELI IP: Logged |

I agree with PixieJane here: quote: I try to keep in mind that this holiday season has been very stressful for many (I have never encountered as much rudeness over the holidays as I have this year and others have told me the same) and there's a lot of extra drinking going on as well as well as the usual holiday dysfunctions (like families getting together when maybe they shouldn't, and then adding alcohol to the mix...). I've seen a couple of comments at LL that irked me but I just shrugged it off as a little too much holiday stress and/or alcohol. That is, please be sure who you think is a troll is a troll rather than someone just having a few bad days. That is, please be sure who you think is a troll is a troll rather than someone just having a few bad days. (But as I only see a few threads I could easily miss a blatant troll or two.)

^ I'm e-mailing proof to Randall right now. I thought about exposing everything LL, but I feel it's better off private and to let Randall make his own decisions in the future.IP: Logged |

I was only referencing that, because I've had a bad time of it - that seems to be my new groove, getting mired in... excrement - and I posted, all annoyed, last week.

^ I can see where both Teasel and ElizabethO are coming from. On the one hand, I know I was crabby to some people lately, that I was slipping into negativity, and that I was anxious, frustrated, and just basically lost in a negative emotional whirlwind. I'd also like to take the opportunity to apologize to those people; they know who they are. So, I can see that point. However, on the other hand, if someone is violating the rules all of the time, or if someone is deliberately causing a lot of problems for people consistently, and shows no remorse or ability to change, then that does have to be addressed. If someone is intentionally not following the rules (and I'm staying out of this and not making a judgment call on that one, so I'm not giving an opinion about any user in either direction), then this does have to be considered. It's one thing to have an off-moment but be pleasant most of the time, or to have issues but be working on them/to feel remorse for bad actions and try to work on changing bad habits and behaviors; it's another to be consistently in violation of rules and to have no regrets or remorse and to not attempt change. I'm curious: does Lindaland have probation, or is it just one reminder plus one warning and then a ban? And how do the mods decide (if they're willing to share; if not I understand--I'm just sincerely curious) whether someone if having an off-moment, if someone is just getting a bit heated but is a good person, or if someone deserves banning? It's really a fine line (or at least seems to be) and I could see how it would be very hard to decide something like that in a lot of cases; some might be very obvious, but others would be more difficult. (Make me appreciate the mods, though!) IP: Logged |

I used to offer multiple warnings and be patient, but people took advantage of it and ignored them. It was chaos. Hence the need for strict enforcement. IP: Logged |

I can understand having a bad day. That's why we offer gentle reminders before warnings.IP: Logged |

For someone to get banned, it takes an egregious wrong, from what I have seen. Being a little crabby or very crabby will not do it. You have to be malicious, really, from what I have observed.------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Check out my journal http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/

Yes, exactly! Trolls are not called those who are having a bad day and just need to vent! Randall is using common sense. I've seen it again and again. No need for anyone to fear anything if they are decent in their posts here (regardless of their mood)! Rule of thumb: avoid profanity, flaming, insults, bad language, personal attacks to others, and you'll be fine. Nobody got banned because they vented their life problems or asked for support! That isn't trolling!

I know of plenty of people who have been banned for reasons other than being "malicious". Youve not been here very long. But keep gossiping outside of here and tarnishing the good name of others. Maybe someday we will all be just as perfect as you and learn how to follow each and every Golden Rule, Miss Lily White. Perhaps a prayer for us outcasts and derelicts would help.It may relieve you to know I won't be posting in the New Year either and you can feel "safe" here again. I know how important that is as you bring it up a lot. IP: Logged |
