I find programming and coding extremely challenging and every now and then when you are working on a site making changes it leads to glitches. I have witnessed my partner dealing with such issues and it doesn't surprise me that Randall sometimes had issues with the site. Technology is very complex and challenging. There could be one little thing off with the coding that you changed accidentally and it can throw everything else in a site off, that is why lindaland foes down sometimes. Its not a big conspiracy theory. IP: Logged |

Who said there was? The question of removing the edit function, came up a few years ago. I voted against it. Why do you only talk to me, when it comes to things like this? IP: Logged |

Lol, this isn't Google or IBM were Randall has a dedicated "In House Software QA team" or a team of developers strictly dedicated to Lindaland. Randall is doing this mostly by himself. Of course a different pre-prepacked web content management systems would solve most of those issues...be happy for what it is. It could be worse...lindaland could be a bare HTML site with some CSS for styling, that whould be much much worse. ==================================== Gemini Sun, Capricorn Rising Aries Moon Gemini Mercury Venus Taurus Mars Cancer IP: Logged |

I cannot edit at all and sometimes the edit button is missing too. Please bring it back. I make very very very many typos and really do not want to have to type my posts offline and then cut and paste them here.IP: Logged |

haha! I noticed it too! I WANT MY EDIT BUTTON! I make too many mistakes, and have to go back in to correct. One of the main reasons I post at LL is BECAUSE there's the ability to edit our posts. Hi Everybody!!!! IP: Logged |

Mee tooo! I'm missing it so much, I have a thread that is dependent upon me editing my first post since I'm keeping count. Is there any timeframe for when the edit button might come back, Randall? IP: Logged |

Good to know it'll come back. A "delete post" option would be a gift from God. Just throwing that out there in case any deity is feeling benevolent. IP: Logged |

I've visited other sections of LL today, and I think I've figured out what else might be behind the disappearance of the edit-buttons for now? *sad* Hope things gently settle with that soon? Be and Stay Well Everyone. IP: Logged |

Ditto!! If we got rid of anything, I'd get rid of quote function cuz people use it waaaaaay too much. IP: Logged |

This situation is not permanent guys. He is trying to fix stuff, when he figures that out the edit button will be back. IP: Logged |

I don't want to be presumptuousness, but I wonder if he's fixing it to avoid a stack overflow. If too many people make to many edits simultaneously and there isn't sufficient memory it will throw a stack overflow error. ==================================== Gemini Sun, Capricorn Rising Aries Moon Gemini Mercury Venus Taurus Mars Cancer IP: Logged |

I'm wondering if it's to see if it adds to the post count. Probably not, but it occurred to me. But yeah, if you wanna get rid of something, get rid of the Quote function. It seems many people hate being quoted anyway. IP: Logged |

I didn't want to be the one to say it, but I think so, too. I noticed after I'd posted here on Sunday. It looked to me like it was to keep someone specific from editing their posts. IP: Logged |

I actually could bring a delete button here, and it would be easy to do, but it would be chaos. When arguments ensue, we need a record of what happened. That's why I lock the thread, so people can't edit. The edit function is related to the glitches on the site where threads become unstable and posts disappear, which thankfully doesn't happen a lot, but it also causes a glitch when a registration occurs at the same time; the system recognizes that registration as a hack attempt, and then it becomes difficult to unregister that person. This has happened a few times. The issue is that if this were ever a troll, then Houston, we have a problem. Since it's all related to the edit function, I'm trying to find the relationship variable and facilitate a fix. That's just fancy language that means I don't know what's going on.IP: Logged |
