I wonder if they'll charge for FB next, and hold THAT up for ransom in the future??? So sorry Lexx EVIL CAPITALISTS!!! haha GET that degree, quickly Randall. IP: Logged |

I hope facebook does not do that. At one time MySpace was going to or did buy Photobucket; but then MySpace was sold about the same time; so no idea wtf is going on. Some highlights of the crap Photofukbucket has done lately: quote: On June 28, 2017, Photobucket changed its Terms of Use regarding free accounts and third party hosting (hosting on forums, eBay, etc). Only the most expensive plan, at $399.99 per year, now permits third party hosting and linking to forums, etc. Which effectively alienating a very large percentage of their users, whom only used Photobucket for third-party image hosting.Photobucket made this change with no input or consultation with their current users, or the public. Adding this to photobuckets use of excessive pop-up ads, scams, clickbait advertisements, and in some cases viruses embedded in ads, the number of active account quickly decreased. This new business model has caused thousands of forum DIY's and write-ups with explanatory pictures to be rendered useless. About 500 words into the linked document was a declaration that free accounts would no longer permit image-linking to third-party sites. Ebay and Etsy have also been affected, in addition to many forums and blogs. Thousands of images promoting goods sold on Amazon and other shopping sites have been removed after the photo-sharing service changed its terms.
BEWARE of TWITTER! quote: Twitter partnership Twitter announced in June 2011 that Photobucket will become the default photo sharing platform for Twitter. According to a report by Sysomos, 2.25M images are shared on Twitter daily, which accounts for 1.25% of all Tweets posted.[13] Just before the announcement, TwitPic and Yfrog were the leading photo-sharing services
I did not use but like 1/4 of my free 2 GB; yet I am being raped by them. quote: The following describes Plus subscription pricing as of October 2016: 2 GB - free 20 GB - $2.99/month, $29.99/year 50 GB - $4.99/month, $49.99/year 100 GB - $8.99/month, $89.99/year 200 GB - $16.99/month, $169.99/year 500 GB - $39.99/month, $399.99/year (Only option that allows embedding/hotlinking)
Take note; the $399.99 a year is the only way one can get to show their pictures etc.Juniperb said she can still see hers on posts but I do not understand how. As you see they have hurt lots of businesses, not just individuals. Also; as the article stated: quote: Adding this to photobuckets use of excessive pop-up ads, scams, clickbait advertisements, and in some cases viruses embedded in ads, the number of active account quickly decreased.
YES! Almost positive; that MY COMPUTER HAS BEEN INFECTED BY PHOPTOFUCCCKBUCKET VIRUSES! THE MOMENT THEY LOCKED MY PICTURES OUT MY COMPUTER BEGAN EXPERIENCING FREAKY GLITCHES! It did not happen until I visited Photofucckbucket; after not going there in awhile; and withing hours....infected! It pretty much has to be them.

I like the idea that Randall suggested. Maybe you can contact their 'Legal Dept' and ask for a special waiver? Maybe their decision, would help others in the same predicament?Really---- With as much personal stuff you have there, it's terribly unfair to hold your things ransom? They need a 'grandfather' clause.

I have contacted them, tried to; in different ways and they totally ignore me except to send me more of their ransom e-mails. Millions are affected by Photofuccckbucket; I am just one impoverish person they do not give a damn about.YES! THEY SHOULD HAVE GRANMDFATHERED IN USERS SUCH AS MYSELF AND JUST CHARGED FOR FUTURE UPLOADS NOT OLD ONES

I must be under 2GB`s? Do you want me to link to a pic? I posted it here but it blew the page up. ------------------ Partial truth~the seeds of wisdom~can be found in many places...The seeds of wisdom are contained in all scriptures ever written… especially in art, music, and poetry and, above all, in Nature.

There are a lot of horror stories on the net about how folks and businesses are being affected by Photofuckit's ransom demands. I expect that someone will be suing as an individual or business; like Amazon; or starting a class action lawsuit or whatever. Photofuckit could have just grandfathered previous images and only charged from hereon the higher price of $399.99. They were already charging for folks needing more storage space. quote: The following describes Plus subscription pricing as of October 2016:2 GB - free 20 GB - $2.99/month, $29.99/year 50 GB - $4.99/month, $49.99/year 100 GB - $8.99/month, $89.99/year 200 GB - $16.99/month, $169.99/year
AND THIRD PARTY EMBEDDING AND HOTLINKING; IE; POSTING PICTURES! Then the jerks added this bullshite! Even for folks already paying $29.99 to $169.99 a year! Photofuckit WAS ALREADY GETTING MONEY! quote: 500 GB - $39.99/month, $399.99/year (Only option that allows embedding/hotlinking)
Only folks like myself who needed very little space got it for free. But the jerks then even shafted their long time loyal paying members! Most folks who just wanted pictures to post on blogs and not for business; cannot afford $399.99 a year. That is over 1/3 of my monthly household income! IP: Logged |

How are you doing that? Posting the actual picture? Are you paying them any fee? I know of no one else except the $399.99 payers who can still post pictures as you have. So what is your secret/method or whatever? IP: Logged |

No secret; no fee Lexx. I only have 26 pics stored. Maybe that is why? The 2 GB thing.? I have that same pic posted at C.E. and it still shows too. ------------------ Partial truth~the seeds of wisdom~can be found in many places...The seeds of wisdom are contained in all scriptures ever written… especially in art, music, and poetry and, above all, in Nature.

It could be they just haven't gotten to everyone yet. That sometimes happened, people affected at different times. If I used that service and was unaffected, I'd remove my content immediately before the ransomware has a chance to kick in, or at least copy it.'Course after they pull this, I'd remove it anyway before their next stunt. And the more who tolerate this are encouraging photobucket to take it further, and for similar sites to pull the same thing, even if they wait a couple of years before pushing it a bit further. Though I still don't get why this is legal in the first place. IP: Logged |

Guessing... So PJ, Would the solution be to get AWAY from Cloud storage, and to use your own server (computer) to store and link graphics? You'd have to set up good privacy walls so that when others accessed and viewed your things, that the criminals can't find their way into the other 'rooms' of your computer? I know that I had looked into banners at LL. I was going to leave Positivity Messages for everyone! haha Inspirational? I saw that it would require me 'hosting?' my own computer. One of the hugest 'gaps' in my knowledge of computers IS how boundary walls are to be set up. Same thing with FB ... and yt. If I'm not sure?... I ain't gonna. Sorry if my language isn't correct. tech-challenged here.

Noodling around LL today, I was suprised to see so many old photobucket photos/gifs still showing up. Mirandee and many others are still showing. This really seems unfair and I wonder why. I hope the fattest lawsuit in history bites their butt. ------------------ Partial truth~the seeds of wisdom~can be found in many places...The seeds of wisdom are contained in all scriptures ever written… especially in art, music, and poetry and, above all, in Nature.

I removed like 90% of my stored images there. The remaining 10% or so post like juniperb said; but only some; about 1/4 of them. All random too. I have also downloaded to my computer the entire file from them except for gifs which they have screwed up and you cannot save them. They said you could individually; but they lied. I do not see how this is legal either. And found out that the other picture service for linking;'TinyPic; is owned by Photofuckbucket. So yeah; all sites will probably screw people over now that Photofucket has done it. IP: Logged |

Many are not showing up too. Even after I deleted about 90% of my stored pictures it only fixed some,, most are gone from posts. I notice other gifs and pictures still here at LL; but they are not from Photofucket. I will look around more.IP: Logged |

mirage29 Not sure you can host from your own computer; unless you turn it into a 24/7 server. That could get pricey or cause your computer to crash. Not sure about all that though.IP: Logged |
