Many doctors and nurses don't want to be what they are, but felt pressured into it and then trapped, and it shows in all too many. Even the ones who sincerely want to do good are constrained by hospital administrators and the like. Not all, and I can think of some doctors and nurses who I believe are downright admirable, but my default is not to trust them (even if they mean well) until they earn that trust, a trust they're NOT entitled to despite what many think. (Many will be as wary of you and what you say as well, so it's only fair.)Those into psychology, including medical psychiatry, are a different beast. I do think most of them wanted to get into it rather than pressured into it. While I think some do want to help (not that good intentions equals good results), I also think many are in it for the pain porn, even sadism, downright giddy that they actually get paid for it. (Edited months later: went with someone to a mental health clinic, and saw horrid things done even downstairs, and the dehumanization of a client even after she was gone, and I'd be surprised if they passed along her number to the one who worked there as she requested. Vile people, and they will exploit the stigma of mental illness in when they can, from major gaslighting to legal defense. And what went on upstairs with the actual therapists was even worse, downright surreal. As far as I'm concerned, going to a place like that is a way to BECOME mentally ill if you're not already! **** them! I'm trying to get the one I was with to sue, and I'll be looking for the other they mistreated at the food banks for the same reason. ADDENDUM: sought her out, did find one who described her well enough to know her as makes sense since they'd go to the same food banks, but he hasn't seen her. I couldn't say WHY I was looking for her as it's not cool to bring stuff like that up, just that I contacted a group who would attempt a lawsuit if she was interested over something I saw, and I'd be a witness. Don't know if the message will get to her or anything come of it. She'd be understandably paranoid. And "help" by that clinic may have driven her to suicide.) And that's just the therapists as opposed to those working with PR firms and ad agencies to legally use their knowledge/power for amoral mercenary purposes at best--and in this case I'm making a blanket statement deliberately and figure any exceptions are negligible (and soon out of a job), which I rarely do. I think those are just in it for the money, which in a way, makes them more noble than many therapists since they don't pretend they're there to help you as the sadists and power trippers will. (No, I'm not a Scientologist, and think worse of them.) Edited to add: Also, this is based on a lifetime of experience, nothing really to do with Covid.
Though I do have to wonder about the veracity of many stories of caring hospitals since Covid given the decades of callousness before that (centuries, really), and how as a volunteer I had to deal patients dumped by a homeless shelter, including those dying of pneumonia, having no control over their bowels or knowing their own name after a stroke, or even having just had a heart attack. Note the hospitals didn't call us in advance, just had a cab drop them off. Makes me wonder how many dumped patients wandered off (the shelters couldn't take all of them anyway). Also note that many who were sent to a hospital were quickly kicked out or denied services, even when dying. And the viciousness, callousness, corruption at all levels. One doctor about to retire spoke candidly with me about it and why it's that way, which I'm glad for. I have a lot of reasons for my unpopular views, and they're actually likely to differ from say someone who doesn't trust the medical industry because of Qanon, which I have no interest in. Just because some sources about the common abuses and perfidy of the medical (or any other) industry aren't reliable doesn't automatically mean that nothing is actually rotten. IP: Logged |

You neglecting your partner is *just as bad* as your partner cheating on you. BOTH behaviors are unacceptable to do and are filled with betrayal. 💯IP: Logged |

I don’t like sushi, or any seafood, and I also don’t like Buffalo chicken. My dad got me a Buffalo chicken and macaroni frozen dinner, a couple of times, and I asked him to please not buy it again, unless he liked it. I like the way sushi is presented, though. I also don’t like coffee, but I like to smell it brewing. IP: Logged |

My cats don’t know the meaning of personal space. I see these memes about them not caring if you die, “oh, that’s very sad… anyway!” that are amusing, but I can’t relate. IP: Logged |
