Juni ... for pete's sake pay attention, it's climate change. The whole weather system is screwed up. Think global, baby.Pacific typhoon season was very interesting this year. IP: Logged |

lol, how is he keeping his strawberries warm? standing over them with a blow dryer? but how endearing, that he grows strawberries!yes the climate is definitely weird. and the animals, especially birds, are acting very disoriented. saw a flock of geese heading north the other day, though some say the weirdness is to do with MAGNETIC pole shifting, which would interfere with the birds' homing devices but also might indicate that "north" is not in exactly the same place as it was last year...! well shura, are you asking me to be politically correct or have a chat with Al Gore?? Or again, are you saying I`m as screwed up as the weather? ------------------ What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world is immortal"~ - George Eliot IP: Logged |

Neither, juni. As you know, my delicate sensibilities are offended by both.I do prefer 'climate change'. To the average joe, Global Warming indicates nothing much more than hot summer beach weather and less snow to shovel off his driveway this winter. Sign me up, right? The Global Warming soundbite, brought to us by its .. ahem ..official sponsers, is intentionally designed bulllshit. Intentionally designed so that smart chicks like yourself see right through it. Its a diversionary tactic and it always was. Barring the occasional, interesting catastrophic event(think the 2004 Thailand Tsunami) weather reporting is extremely localized. And a good thing too because this makes it that much easier to keep out heads in the sand. The average joe isn't looking at the big picture. He isn't thinking long term. He's long since been trained not to. He doesn't consider the effects of rising sea levels. He probably doesn't know that 2009 is now considered America's worst harvest season. Ever. He bitches about his grocery bill, but he doesn't make the connection, he isn't connecting the dots. Small example ... I recently heard some idiot weatherman remark on the calm hurrican season on our east coast, followed by a nudge at the 'global warming advocates'. Ok. It was all calm on the eastern front this year. But what about the Pacific? Historically, if the Atlantic is calm, the Pacific is not. And vice versa of course. Well, the Pacific was INSANE this year. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/10/02/world/main5358294.shtml http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/weather/10/31/philippines.typhoon/index.html Just look at that. That bastaard didn't completely dissipate until it hit Canada. ok sunday morning rant ova IP: Logged |

hmmm .... how indeed ... the mind wanders Seriously, kat, I've been telling you Jwhop's really just a big cuddly bear. It's true. His initiation rituals are a little tough, but he's a sweetie. He takes these little vacations once in a while. I think he's going to be quite touched when he sees you've been fretting over his absence. The pole shift is an interesting topic. Sadly, it requires a wee bit of digging to get past the New Age crap so commonly associated with it. For amusement, I just did a google search on it and the first thing up to bat was a wiki article (of course) 2nd was some stupidity about 2012 and the 3rd discussed "Light Beings". Oy. No wonder people dismiss the whole thing. Anyway this is a fun read. Sent from me to you, with affection. Enjoy. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/12/1215_051215_north_pole.html IP: Logged |

well shura if we keep saying 'climate change' we will bend the noses of the conspiracy theorists right? Oh, and don`t get me started on the new agey concepts of pole shifts. ------------------ What we do for ourselves dies with us. actually the magnetic pole shifting is not particularly new agey or particularly new at all...in fact there is a continual WOBBLE in the magnetic poles, however it has apparently been more pronounced of recent years and it has been measured by scientists who specialize in these things.it was not some new age propaganda that made those geese fly north at christmastime, which would be daft by any almanac's predictions...and i don't think it was because it is warmer up north either!! though i haven't been paying attention to the weather in portland/seattle/anchorage... as to jwhop, the honorary of this thread, i bear him no ill will. just because i think his ideas are presented in the most bigotted thoughtless way possible doesn't even mean i don't agree with some of the ideas themselves!! i just can't let hyperbole and sloppy journalism pass without a growl...! and i can't stand to watch anyone assuming that one party or politician is a saint and another a devil, they are all politicians with a bit of both in their makeup. Of course it isn`t Yet look around and read all the hoopla regarding it. Note shura`s wiki mention... and there`s oodles more rotting the brains of otherwise sane folks. right, right that's my point. The New Age movement co-opted this pole business. Sucked the legitimacy right out of it.I'm not a fan of jwhop's news sources, kat.

I don't mind that language at all...!!! It just shocks me when I wander innocently into a thread and try to be polite without knowing the hard-core die-hards are lurking around the corner ready to stamp their viewpoint into my forehead.
