Yin,I want to apologize to you. I shouldn't have said what I did on a public forum. It was uncalled for, and I spoke rashly. I hope you will accept my apology. IP: Logged |

I understand where you are coming from, and I hope you understand where I was coming from about we DO have choices in the food we eat. We really do, though we've been given NO choice by the large corporations that chose fuel for us, because they wanted to make money. They took our choice away and dismantled it and supressed it, etc.Apology accepted. If you click on the contact us button at the bottom of the page, you can find his email. IP: Logged |

Abs, I agree. We NOW have choices in what we eat. Fuel resources will be next on the dissection table. Who Killed the Electric Car?IP: Logged |

There was just a short time, ie a few decades where processed was "THE" thing, and it was hard to find natural food conveniently (that being the key word there)We've always had choices. IP: Logged |

I disagree on the "always." But I come from elsewhere so my past experience may be different than yours.IP: Logged |

wheels (remember her?) walks or bikes. she made her choice not to partake in oil greed.a lot of us not so lucky, live far from work. but, it IS a choice. we could always secure housing closer as to denounce oil dependancy...like wheels...it takes dedication that i surely admire, biking in rain storms and severe weather conditions...rain or shine, she does it. thumbs up and hats off to ANYONE who makes that committment.

Well I grew up in Iowa, so it has always been available in some form. Meat was grown on the farm, and was processed there, and I grew up hunting. So respect for the life that was going to provide you with sustinance was expected. We had a large garden, and so did my grandparents, and most of the people I ate with, whom all put up food for the winter. Processed food wasn't common where I lived, as it was pretty rural, and if you did go out to eat, it was rare. So I've done my best to keep those eating habits. I kinda fell off the wagon somewhat in college, however, I've stayed true to that as I grew up post college and especially since I've had children. There's a saying in the computer programming community: garbage in, garbage out. I think it fits in well.IP: Logged |

Just to be clear on the pic's...I was more frustrated at the fact that this thread is about BP and those pic's of pig's was just another attempt to turn the thread into something it's not intended to be about. And I'm not one who complained to Randall, but whoever did had good reason.

cpn, for the first 6 years here my job was 5 miles away and I biked and walked to work. The infrastructure does not provide for this kind of commuting. There are no bike paths and no sidewalks; there is a lot of traffic and I risked my life every time I got on that bike (not that I don't now in a car). There is at least one accident a year where somebody biking to work is killed here. Europe is built differently. I never owned a car back home. I walked everywhere and took the bus for long distance travels. I still hate driving.IP: Logged |

I know. The eastern seaboard ie original 13 colonies, are much more European in their city/town designs, because they were the first places. They are much more bike friendly, or they used to be, I guess I don't know how it is, post WWII design.IP: Logged |

You know what was quite funny? People used to pull over alongside me all the time and ask me if I needed a ride... No, I'm just walking to work. I guess that was too strange. Yes, it warms my heart that strangers will do that for me. But were they doing good? In their minds - yes, they were. It happened so often, I wanted to carry a "Just walking here. Never mind me, please." sign.IP: Logged |

We went without a car, in our small town for quite some time, and you'd be amazed at the strange looks you can get. Like it didnt' compute LOL that someone would choose to walk, in whatever weather might be happening.I also went barefoot mostly for a while, couldn't go really hard core and do it during the winter...Kevin was heartier than I was I guess IP: Logged |

If anyone is offended by the pig pictures then why are you buying and eating slaughtered pigs in the first place? IP: Logged |

i think they were offended because it was not a string about slaughtered piggies...or meat eaters... it was a string about bp and thier havoc on our eco system.two distictly different subjects if i am not mistaken. we have all seen the piggies over and over anyway. they get posted quite often. LOL, cpn. And the board for political discussions and environmental disasters is called Global Unity. Right? Everyone here goes on the premise that LL Central is for everything under the sun.LL Central "A general discussion gathering-place where you can talk about anything you like; make new friends, lend support, share inspirational stories, and recommend any interesting sites that you come across."
