A pod of Bottlenose dolphins swim under the oily water Chandeleur Sound, Louisiana, Thursday, May 6, 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico. (AP Photo/Alex Brandon) This is a photo of a dolphin pulled from the gulf. All oceanic lifeforms will die in the region. The oil is a toxic mix that suffocates the life in the water. The gulf is one of the world's 4 oxygen creation zones and has some of the largest coral reefs. The most beautiful waters in the world in the Bahamas and Florida coast will soon be gone forever. This is a terrible tragedy and global ecosystem killer. The planet's ecotsystem will be directly affected by this disaster, all lifeforms and weather patterns will be adjusted. IP: Logged |

LOL to the last post!! Me too.Abs, this is beyond a tragedy. Especially so for myself and anyone who has lived on the Gulf coast and loved it or lives there and loves it now. It is an really incredibly beautiful place. Paradise. It holds a special place in my soul because i've lived there and been taken by it's beauty. I've never seen such beautiful sunsets and skyscapes, not to mention all the beautiful creatures that inhabit the waters and that area. Earlier i was reminicing to my roomate about the area and how much i miss it and how sad it makes me to know what is going on. Especially for the animals and all the people that live there and LOVE that place so much, it's in their heart and soul too and it's heartbreaking to see it go out this way. Unless youve been there and fallen in love with it, you'll never really know. It really breaks my heart to think that this beauty is getting ruined. Ive never seen such beautiful flaming sunsets and rainbows....and they happened everyday there. It burned it's beauty into my soul and i'm very sad to see it go. IP: Logged |

Death in general is horrible.. and pain is horrible.. Put them together and you get a painful death - It doesn't get much worse. But this is a universal nightmare, not one that happens localized to one or two beings. People get tortured and chopped up as well - it's not just animals. What about 5 year olds who are kidnapped and buried alive? And others who are skin and bones with no food or clean water to survive? I see disgusting stories daily.. and I see happy ones as well. I don't know why the world is the way it is. I am not God and I can't single-handedly change it. If I truly let this in emotionally, I would shoot myself.. because who would want to live in such a place? So I have to detach and do what I can in my own PATCH to better things. Just my two cents. IP: Logged |

..makes one think about when things happen in thier own backyard and how important they are. i know so many NewEngladers would be beyond heartbroken and crying out if this was going on in theirs. I guess if it's far away, it doesnt seem to matter as much. I feel so sad for these people. IP: Logged |

I know, it just hit me hard again, after watching the TED talk, the link I posted. It was the story he told, about the dolphin coming up to the boat, and blowing oil out of it's blowhole, repeatedly, asking for help, and he started crying while telling it, that got to me. IP: Logged |

Valus, I am getting complaints about the graphic imagery you posted. I'm not going to take it down, since it's in a string titled in such a way as to give warning--just letting you know that in the future, be careful where you post such pics, or create your own string with a warning in the topic. ------------------ "I have found a desire within myself that no experience in this world can satisfy; the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world." -C.S. WARNING!!! The images posted here have been previously posted up above without a warning!!! View at your own risk!Randall, since you were getting complaints... Please add mine to them. I don't understand how a picture like this: is any less offensive or graphic than a picture like this: I'm horrified seeing the dolphin's spilled guts. Nobody should be subjected to this kind of imagery. The pigs' pictures ... eh, everybody loves a pork chop. It's the circle of life. Thank God, we don't have to eat dolphins too, right? IP: Logged |

Yeah, that dolphin is horrifying. I'm outraged. Who's responsible?? Not for posting them, but for killing them. Hopefully some BP executives will open this thread and be shocked by the results of their immoral behavior. That would certainly justify posting the images.

re-edited Because People have a choice as to what and how they consume food. What choice have we been given as far as our choice of fuels? The train systems that used to run in every major city, that provided transport for people were bought up and dismantled by the very industries that brought us the gulf spill. There's one example for you among others. IP: Logged |

Abs, this is not personal. I was merely illustrating a point. It felt unjust to have Valus called on posting graphic images when this thread is about making people aware of the horrors in the Gulf and showing graphic images of dead sea life is what it takes for people to get outraged. Think about it, if you went to a slaughterhouse and saw with your eyes when goes on there or saw the living conditions in factory farms, would you still feel ok for contributing to the industry? I'm not saying you are. Just saying, please try to see it that way. We've been consistently bombarded with sad images from the Gulf in the news, on TV, newspaper, radio... It hurts to see those, doesn't it? What if we were bombarded with images of cruelly slaughtered animals for consumption instead? Maybe the pigs deserve their own thread. Maybe that'll make a difference. I don't know.I read your response before you deleted it. If you would like to discuss personal stuff, you can email me at [edited for privacy] IP: Logged |

A song came to mind as I was reading this post....... I'm a stranger here by Five Man Electrical band. Man harps about the greatest advances they made in life like pills, cars, airplanes, skyscrapers etc.....the alien brings up concerns and then points out that mankind was living in paradise..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeVhhHRDcQU Cynn IP: Logged |
